"The match was rigged. It wasn't our fault. That referee... it felt like the entire match had already been decided. We were leading 2–0, but from that point on he kept making one decision after another against us. Congratulations to Argentina on another World Cup—it looks like that's what's going to happen.
At no point did we think the match had already been decided. We knew we were facing the reigning world champions.
The referee wasn't good; he was an oppressor. His injustice was crystal clear. From the very beginning of the match, he was against us. He didn't want us to win.
'Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' (Qur'an 3:173)
That referee is destroying the hard work of an entire nation.
Even before the match began, we knew we were up against a very strong team and one of the favorites to win the title. But if Argentina had won purely on their own merit, we would have accepted the result in a completely different way."
