Discussion I'm starting to think this game is becoming something not for me

I really didn't wanted to play Arc Raiders at first, it just looked like another basic mainstream title. But the more I saw of it, the more interested I was, and once I got the game, I had a blast for months. But slowly the game has been shifting into something I really don't think is for me.

I have so many memorable matches of me talking someone out of a fight, making a deal with other players to take down an extract camper with powerful weapons, tense meetings in extract where nobody wants to press the button and dance parties after killing a queen AND a sniping rodent. It really felt like a game like no other where players you meet made every match feel unique and tense.

But now, it no longer feels like a PvPvE game. It's a PvE game OR a PvP game. I like to be friendly, but I still want people to attack me from time to time to make games unpredictable. But slowly I always find myself in carebare lobbies, specialy since now self defense dosent count towards ABMM.

Now, after expedition, I managed enough to save for a deadline to kill a bastion and get my gear bench 3. But as soon as I did, some came and decided to just start looting. I asked them to stop, gave two warning shots to the ground, and eventualy shot the guy once. He ran away calling me a rat, throwing 3 snitch scanners at me. I cleared the arc and continued to loot, and he started to snipe me from afar. So I tracked him down and killed him.

Great, now I'll go into some mixed lobbies right? No, straight into shoot on sight zero comunication lobbies for the rest of the day until I'm back into zero communication friendly lobbies. And that just kills me, either I hear gunfire and flares from the moment I load in, or I don't, and I don't have to worry. All the uncertiaty that made games unique and memorable is gone. Not only that, since people know how matchmaking works, they rarely talk, since they already know if the lobby is PvP or PvE, there is no need to comunicate or parley.

And now with the new PvE event around the corner further separating the players into either PvP or PvE instead of a mix, and seeing people in this sub talk to anyone who dosen't want to be 100% friendly all the time as if they were the scum of the earth, I think that the game has become something that is not for me. And that's just really sad...

My friendly lobbies are always talkative.

u/CoreyTrevor1 6h ago

You guys are still getting friendly lobbies?? I get killed all the time

6

u/ItsJustReeses 13h ago

Yup. I've quite literally got a real of fun moments in the last week alone.

71

u/billytron7 13h ago

I kinda feel like there almost shouldnt be any aggression based match making and its totally random who you end up in a match with. I thi k that would return the game to its earlier style of tense confrontations cause no one knows if the other is going to shoot. Pvp lobbies you know its KOS, pve lobbies are helpful for finishing benches and doing trials but they can get a bit boring as of late. I wish they never mentioned the abmm or just took it out entirely šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

6

u/newbrevity 9h ago

I am fine with that, once they get the cheating problem more or less under control. That's why I prefer PVE. I don't run into cheaters in PVE, aside from the ones who are using cheats to max trials. At least I don't run into people using cheats to kill me. My interest in PvP will grow when I know that it's a matter of skill and not whether it's some spoiled brat who used his mommy's credit card to buy cheats.

Another thing that could help would be factions in the game. Encourage people to cooperate with their own team but shoot on site for other teams. I feel like that would be a fun dynamic.

When they introduced abmm was the moment when the game started to go downhill atleast imo.

8

u/billytron7 13h ago

Was it introduced, or was it just made public knowledge? But I agree, take it away!

5

u/xoteck 13h ago

It was just confirmed im pretty it was had an abmm. That being said pretty sure they kept updating along the way

22

u/hipsu55 13h ago

The game always had abmm

15

u/dendrocalamidicus 10h ago

Nope, fed up of seeing this said. Anybody who experienced the game on launch could feel the difference when it was added and the CEO specifically said it was added after launch, around the time of the cold snap update in December 2025.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY3u7wOmm4w

09:54

To quote the CEO:

And then we also since a week ago or so, we introduced a system where we also matchmake based on your how prone you are to PvP or PvE

This is a video from 30th December 2025. 2 months after launch.

0

u/StanGe205 7h ago

As a player since the beta I can definitely say, that the launch version has ABMM. But since it was the early days of the game, and a lot of different players joined without knowing what to expect, and no separation for different party sizes, the system had much more wiggle room, than it has today.

1

u/dendrocalamidicus 30m ago

Did you ignore the bit where I posted a link to a video where the CEO literally said it was added after launch tho?

4

u/Superb_Priority_8759 11h ago

Bullshit, it either wasn’t working properly or didn’t exist until mid December.

1

u/UpvoteMeOrYouWillDie 5h ago

I totally agree. They for example could increase average loot value to reward players for taking the risk, making it more exciting for non aggressive players without it feeling like a "penalty" or disadvantage perse

11

u/efdotfloss 13h ago

I really miss the magic of those first few weeks when every match felt like a proper mixed lobby and you could just as easily be shot at on sight, or make a friend and watch each other's backs.

-6

u/ItsJustReeses 13h ago

Still do. Died 3 times this week due to PvP alone and I've only killed 1 guy for stealing loot (which happened after)

Quit letting the subreddit determine your opinion. I promise you that social aspect is still there and I'm still watching my back 🤷

u/WyrdDrake 13h ago

I enjoyed PvPvE and stopped playing when all my matches became guaranteed PvP

As you said, I enjoyed the tension WITH THE POSSIBILITY of PvP

As soon as the game became near guaranteed PvP every single raid, I stopped playing. Took me less than a month, though, since I always brought in good gear and therefore I got rushed HARD consistently by ESP cheaters on freekits. My first two loadouts with Bettina there in the 2nd week of the game were lost in the first match I brought them in, and BOTH kits were returned to me due to cheaters.

By the start of week 4 there was such a considerable uptick in PvP fixated players, and I was so successful in defending myself from them, that I was in PvP only lobbies and it throughly soured my experience.

I do enjoy the game design and the ARC so I'm going to reinstall for the PvE event, but im not getting my hopes up. I had a blast and I thought my money was well spent for a game I only enjoyed for 3 weeks, though.

30

u/half-giant 13h ago

While I enjoy the carebear lobbies I do agree that the matchmaking is far too black and white; you shouldn’t be immediately dumped into sweaty godcat lobbies if you do a bit of damage to one raider. I’m not really sure what the solution is though.

19

u/kingpin748 12h ago

It isn't though? I shot at a guy today and it didn't seem to affect my matchmaking and it hasn't in the past.

The idea that you immediately get sent to PvP hell for knocking a guy isn't correct.

1

u/slliw 12h ago

Same, I did damage to raiders during the final week of trials for the do damage to matriarchs and queens. I was sweating bricks but it didn’t affect my care bear lobbies.

6

u/Capnleonidas 12h ago

Someone on harvester shot me with a Hullcracker (accidentally I’m sure) while i was on top of her leg and it fell to the
ground. I looted it and got a core (since I rode it to the ground I got there before Hullcracker.) he starts making all sorts of comments about how that was his leg and his core and how he could just mow me down for my behavior. I was like whatever dude you shot me, it’s my core now. So he won’t let it go and he is following me around and the queen shoots us with the laser and Hullcracker and another guy are on fire and I rolled behind a barricade and just Bettina them both down and then run off with my core to the hatch all the while he is cursing me and calling out my fit and gun etc. anyway long story short, next round was PvE.

-2

u/normiespy96 12h ago

Well, maybe its my perception, but that is how I've seen it play out every time I kill someone.

1

u/dalonelybaptist 12h ago

Been downvoted since the day they confirmed abmm for saying this

7

u/calimind 13h ago

Very well said.

12

u/g3rusty 13h ago

Really well written. This is exactly where the magic of the game lies for me: the social sandbox and navigating each encounter with a Raider.

The PvE toggle will predetermine how that encounter goes, which is why I really am afraid of this being implemented permanently.

But also ABMM needs to be toned down a good bit or gotten rid of to ensure more interesting encounters. Plus absolutely stop cheaters, because they can be hostile without fear of consequences.

8

u/JManchego 13h ago

This. I’m not seeking out pure PvP or pure PvE. Both of those feel less ā€œaliveā€ as a social experiment than the early days of really mixed PvEvP lobbies

5

u/ItsJustReeses 13h ago

And that game is still there. Quite literally how I like to play and for the last week it is EXACTLY that. Kill a raider, get put into a bit more aggressive lobbies, cools down after 2-3 matches. Rinse repeat.

I'm not sure HOW OP killed someone, but I've been playing all week and idk what they're talking about with going to Pure PvP lobbies after a single kill. It definitely doesn't work like that as of today

1

u/JManchego 12h ago

I suppose I could try this. I usually don’t have the heart to shoot first, which kinda sucks now if I still prefer mixed lobbies vibes. Could be region or party sizes thing. Does this work for solos? Are the sus mixed lobbies you’ve had talkative?

2

u/ItsJustReeses 12h ago

I've only played solos all week as I'm waiting for my old crew to come back on the 8th :)

And while I've been relearning the game I've been in the same boat šŸ˜… but a couple of vultures wanted to try and eat my breakfast so had to put them down.

Next round I almost got sniped, ran away and escape easily without firing back,

Next game someone was hesitant to shoot at me and same for them, but I think we were both in the "same" situation.

And by my third game I was already running around in PvE lobbies (Until I got HS in Stella Montis later, but the whole server went hunting for the guy and it was a blast)

I'm actually making a video to find out if that part of the game is still there, and from what I've learned in the last week. The game still feels very much alive and even more so, and I think that's because people are excited for the new content update :)

At least everyone I've talk to that has said " yeah I just came back" I've asked what brought them back and it's usually been the new content drop video šŸ˜…

Idk. I hopped in after not playing since the first disembark, and I'm having an absolute blast.

i've been in care bear lobbies for like 30 games in a row where there was always the whole lobby killing every arc on the map, accidentaly shot someone ONCE, instantly got put into a lobby where i saw 3 flares go up in a span of 3 minutes (with gunfire coming from those directions, not insta surrenders).

5 minutes into the same raid i was mowed down by a dude with bobcat 4 while trying to kill a bastion.

this is not an original experience, there's tons of similar stories, so there is for sure something off with the matchmaking, where it sometimes just breaks and it just does not work the way Embark tried telling us.

21

u/JalapenoTaquito 11h ago

PvP’ers are just mad they can’t take advantage of trusting players in PvE lobbies. Now that they have a lobby full of like-minded raiders they’re suddenly upset. Downvote me.

4

u/Inimicus33 11h ago

I mean, I can see why. Now the full pvp lobbies will be just the entire population sitting in different bushes around extract for 30 min., wondering why no one is bringing them free loot

3

u/Ellweiss 7h ago

What about PvPvE'ers ? I am always friendly, but being among only friendly people is not fun to me, and I'm sure a lot of people share this sentiment too. Having to be careful and not trusting anyone blindly makes friendly interactions that much more satisfying. To me, the matchmaking satrted feeling dull when they added ABMM

2

u/FervantFlea 4h ago

The only people who say this have never participated in PvP or don't understand the appeal of PvPvE in the first place. It's funny because it's said ad nauseam here but any hybrid player knows it has nothing to do with our complaints.

0

u/getFondled2 7h ago

Huh ? I only play trios and no one trusts anyone in that mode. I’ve considered myself that now maybe with PvE I can recoup some of the losses by running solo stella, but in my head I’m imagining that being a very boring time.

7

u/FlameStaag 13h ago

Yeap they use ABMM in the worst way possible which is killing the game.

They should be using it to balance lobbies with both passive and aggressive players.Ā

2

u/SlightlyEffected 13h ago edited 12h ago

This might do it, keep the pve toggle for the sometimes zany carebear lobbies

4

u/BigBiscuit__ 13h ago

I still play this game A LOT, but it doesn’t make me feel the same way it used to. Definitely lost its magic somewhere along the way.

7

u/BrakkoNullo 13h ago edited 11h ago

That happened cuz the devs leaned towards a community who didn’t even enjoy the first game idea

2

u/polaroid 12h ago

They did what??

1

u/StratonTiER 7h ago

Oh, u/MacheteMolotov typed that u/BrakkoNullo typed ā€œcatheteredā€ instead of ā€œcatered toā€ as some kind of gotcha reveal, and then received downvotes for being a fish. I think that about sums it up.

2

u/MacheteMolotov 12h ago

I knew people were getting pissy, but this is a whole other level

3

u/BrakkoNullo 11h ago

Truth is harsh

-4

u/MacheteMolotov 11h ago

Nah, you cant edit your comment and not mention it. For everyone who comes after: u/BrakkoNullo typed ā€œcatheteredā€ instead of ā€œcatered toā€ and has edited their comment to say ā€œleaned towardsā€.

5

u/BrakkoNullo 11h ago edited 8h ago

Is that a big of a deal? I changed it cuz I’m bad at English and used the wrong word buddy, are you that mad to use that thing as an arguement? I Am also typing on a phone and don’t have English typo corrector on my keyboard

3

u/SlightlyEffected 13h ago edited 13h ago

I agree with that 100%. From the start the amount of time it took just to gather materials while trying to stay out of agro lobbies is a full-time job. Then if you want to expedite or do any of the seasonal challenges, well better be in highschool or calling into work.

So grindy, and I thought it was supposed to be "the casual extraction shooter" or at least approachable.

Fck me I'm sure it's a skill issue, but no, fck them I think they've pissed me off more than helldivers 2 at this point.

Overall very addictive, many bugs and short sights from the developers, but great game 1000 hours topside. I may give it a try in November šŸ¤·šŸ¼ šŸ™ƒ Embark makes very polished core mechnics but don't develop well under the pressure of large publishers.

I thought lobbies were getting pretty balanced around July or so but then, the hacking. I'm 32 this is the most amount of hacking I've seen in a live service game. I wish threads like this gets got mroe up votes so people know what's really going on

3

u/Democratic-officer 13h ago

Abmm botched the whole situation
Same as for PvP games version called sbmm

Just let it be random FFS that’s the beauty of not knowing how it’ll go…..

2

u/Aggressive_Wrap_2790 13h ago

Well said and this is how it’s been since around December of last year once Embark publicly acknowledged ABMM. It’s a unique extraction shooter in that it’s not pure PvP but rather has unpredictable player encounters. And the PvP and PvE both aren’t that good in isolation; the social dynamics are what holds everything together. But Embark caved to a bunch of screeching psychos and now the game is shallow as a puddle.

4

u/krausser666 12h ago

I've said it before, I'll say it again, ABMM was a mistake and is one of the primary reasons why the game's community got divided as much since release. Maybe not ABMM itself, but them being open about it, even if people were starting to figure out the basics of how it worked early.Ā

3

u/JustBrowsingHereTho 13h ago

I feel the same way, and I feel like this change happened when they last tweaked which lobbies you load into. I immediately felt like they had adjusted the game in the wrong direction.

Like you said, flares going up as soon as you load in = PvP. Nothing happening from start to finish = PvE.

It’s just not fun.

6

u/kingpin748 12h ago

Flares going up as soon as you log in is players who don't like their spawn.

1

u/JustBrowsingHereTho 11h ago

What kind of brain dead player plays like that. Lol.

4

u/Actual-Way-6540 10h ago

that's nothing special or new. especially after a wipe you can find tons of dead players in their spawns with nothing on them. people will load into blue gate naked and try to beeline to reinforced reception for survivor augment. got spawned too far away? insta surrender.

2

u/Tearakudo 12h ago

SBMM fixes the issue for normal people, but then the sweats cry their games are always sweaty

2

u/Distruzione 13h ago

I remember the tension of the first days at launch, amazing game turned into a queen/matriarch farming simulator after the ABMM.

1

u/_B_R_A_N_E_ 13h ago

All I will say is only one crowd is constantly whining about the game needing to change to accomodate them.

9

u/JManchego 13h ago

This black & white line of thinking is exactly the reason there’s such a debate going on in the community. It’s not one crowd vs the other. It’s a PvEvP game that to me is a third type of experience. I’m a care bear myself but the thrill of the experience is that I need to watch my back and shoot a bitch if they mess with me or my homies. The grey area experience is what a lot of us yearn for.

2

u/SaveTheWorldRightNow 12h ago

We need a ton more posts like this. ABMM really destroyed the game.
PVEVP in the first 2 months was the MAGIC.

1

u/skiplogic 13h ago

Almost this exact thing happened to me yesterday. It was a bombardier, and it took 2 free kit stella runs to put me in safe waters! (safe waters to me is sus lobbies, not KOS, there is a difference)

1

u/BSGKAPO 13h ago

Go around a couple matches shooting others in the knee... you'll be right where you wanna be

1

u/Cautious-Ruin-7602 9h ago

Some will cry that you're just looking for EZ kills. But it's exactly this playstyle of non-ratting, non-KOS (dubbed PvPvE) that gets the hurt the most by ABMM and even more by the PvE-toggle.

Ratters and KOS PvPers won't get hit by this, they still have each other to target. It's the PvPvE that now has to chose between a PvE only mode, or a mode that will become devoid of friendly actions (PvP).

Care bears cry they're just fodder for rats and PvPers, but they're actually bait for the PvPvE players to keep playing the game.

1

u/Germangunman 9h ago

My light burnt out a couple months ago as well as
my friends, we changed it up. Lately we have been playing HLL: Vietnam, but just this week took up Active Matter. Now that game is crazy fun!! Even has PvE in co-op. It’s a bit scary and can be intense, but so far it has filled our void.

1

u/wvtarheel 8h ago

The lobbies that had a lot of uncertainty, where half the players were friendly, a couple psychos, and a few opportunistic players really were peak. Embark seems to be abandoning that experience via the ABMM being so sensitive

1

u/InBoundsOffPiste 4h ago

It sucks man. I hate that we have to defend the mechanics that made the game an absolute hit and we are losing the battle.

1

u/AZepino 3h ago

Duos - always taking opportunity to either shoot players if our chances are good or chat with them ( if they seem to be friendly chill or our chances are slim ) - this approach is keeping us squarely in mixed. Not every chat ends up to be peaceful friendly but it is always fun .

1

u/SiscoSquared 3h ago

It hasn't been a pvpvpe game for more than half a year, between player population dropping off a cliff, and half the playerbase manipulating their abmm.... you basically end up in pve lobbies, noob pvp lobbies, or sweat+hacker pvp lobbies.

1

u/Perfect-Flight3516 2h ago

I think they should do the stupid PvE toggle with low value loot (maybe call it easy mode), and then for everything else have wider bands of play style mixed together for each raid. Not super wide, but just enough to keep that element of unpredictable player interactions.

1

u/PrinceAlexSkye 1h ago

I think the PvE mode is actually a reason to drop aggression based matchmaking entirely.

1

u/GuidanceHistorical94 44m ago

It brings a tear to my eye seeing the masses turn on this piece of junk, it really does.

The finals died for this.

1

u/JManchego 13h ago

I used to complain about how defending yourself increased your aggression rating. My play style has always been friendly but will happily hunt you down if provoked. But now with the changes to ABMM for defenders and party sizes, I never get the fun tension-filled mixed lobbies. You are not alone. There’s lots of us who want the game to feel tense and exciting again. They definitely need to do something to bring back the original tension that to me made Arc Raiders special, either via certain game modes or changes to ABMM again.

0

u/iltdan 6h ago

ABMM ruined the game. Has no place in an extraction shooter. If you don’t like pvpve then it’s not the game genre for you. Plenty of pve games out there

1

u/CoyotaDex 10h ago

honestly my biggest hopes are that they remove ABMM with the implementation of the PvE toggle

1

u/rdgemini 13h ago

same story bro, you down a big arc and ppl start looting it as if they have rights. Better open your mic and warn them if they come nearby. Yesterday i went to queen harvesting event, did most of the work and when it comes to looting blueprints, people audaciously stand inside and wait for the box to drop, i mean what i can do, better luck next time.

1

u/FeralSquirrels 11h ago

All the uncertiaty that made games unique and memorable is gone.

I don't know about that, I'm still a complete carebear but get plenty of games where there's fake friendlies, extract campers or PvP players being opportunistic? I never fire a shot at anything not ARC-shaped so know it's not because of my playstyle.

Not only that, since people know how matchmaking works, they rarely talk, since they already know if the lobby is PvP or PvE, there is no need to comunicate or parley.

If you're already in PvE lobbies anyway there is rarely a need to communicate anyway. The only times I ever have since playing the game since day 1 is the odd little organic interactions if someone's looking for stuff, is offering to give people things, or needs help or guidance. I've never dropped in and run round chit-chatting and to be honest the playstyle is more casual to start with, so most people are low engagement and wanting to be chill. It's not VR chat.

But slowly the game has been shifting into something I really don't think is for me.

Games and their players can both change. The culture and way things are done can change. You can't blame the game nor the studio for things which aren't necessarily at the core of it - people. The Devs and game itself haven't stopped people talking or changed interactions, it's people. You can try to be the one who encourages it, but can't expect things to always be the same or not evolve.

I used to play tons of Planetside 2, WoW and KOTOR but the people and communities drastically changed over time in a lot of ways. Sometimes the games themselves also changed too but generally speaking it was the people that influenced it, not the game. Arguably the game not changing causes more problems!

But now, it no longer feels like a PvPvE game. It's a PvE game OR a PvP game.

And now with the new PvE event around the corner further separating the players into either PvP or PvE instead of a mix

End of the day the only difference is a new mode is being tested. Nothing is for sure, set in stone or guaranteed. You, like others, are making assumptions based on hunches rather than anything actually tangible. If you already feel like the game is less and less for you based on X, well if Y is coming and isn't your thing well of course you'll feel it's not for you.

The best anyone can say or do is: see how things go. Maybe with the new content that'll be enough, maybe PvE won't be like anyone thinks or maybe it'll go down exactly like some are saying. We don't know. You don't know.

How about we just see how things go and make a judgement then - I took a break before Riven Tides as found things getting dull but I don't like PvP so the only option was walk away for a while. I don't expect the new content to bring me back either - the only thing that will is the PvE mode because I have friends who are categorically not going to want to PvP whatsoever in ARC, so it'll be fun going through all the quests together, getting them kitted up and going off to do stuff.

I know for a fact once they're settled in they'd be very happy to do some PvPvE and it's just the fear of loss of "stuff" and getting used to things, but having that lower bar to engagement and understanding the systems while building up a stash is important to them so that any losses aren't hugely impactful.

1

u/tehans 8h ago

Then don't play.

1

u/kidAlien1 5h ago

Yes. ABMM has ruined the magic. Give the bears their PVE mode and remove ABMM from the main mode. Bring on the downvotes.

-2

u/ItsJustReeses 13h ago

Is this subreddit full of people who haven't played in months?

What op is asking for is quite literally what is happening on live servers right now.

You run around and get into PvP fights every so often while dealing with the Arc

I think people need to test what they're preaching because it feels like people haven't played in months and are just using their opinion from before.

Due to players coming back, there's tons of PVP gamers trying to get back to PVP lobbies. And this will be even more so during the update next week.

On top of that I've got multiple instances of PVE moments with other Raiders and even funnier moments of Raiders doing very silly stuff.

I think the game still fun after coming back since the first disembark. The subreddit is just acting like giant babies

0

u/Atago1337 11h ago

Arc Raiders is peak but Embark has no idea how to manage it.

0

u/Vostoks 8h ago

People who complain about ABMM are either Rats or people with trigger fingers who is upset that now people shoot on sight when they don't want to be shot.

There are plenty of other extraction shooter and more to come in the next few years. Go play what is fun for you.

0

u/Avernalism613 3h ago

I understand the desire for balance with the lobbies but I kind of dont understand why this is so miserable that it becomes a topic worth sharing. Trying to be good faith i totally understand theres an expectation with these games but given the algorithms and player behvlavior why is this such a bad thing? I feel like theres some underwritten code here but if you want balance why not be that balance? I felt bad the first time I killed someone minding their own business looting, but I like the unpredictability and predation sometimes. Sometimes I like helping So...

0

u/SprayInevitable6821 2h ago

You are getting downvoted but I totally agree with you. Currently for me I either care bear solo which has become sterile/boring. Or when I duo/trio with a squad it's KoS which is fun but I'm not that sweaty to take on lvl IV bobcats/cheats.

the memorable moments of the game were getting ratted, defending myself, helping others hunt an aggressive player. Just general mayhem. On the other end of the spectrum it's being in aggressive lobbies and finding another friendly, or having a good battle over prox then defibbing an opponent and hatching out together.

the key moment in the game for me was after I got ratted a few times, instead of complaining, I went to the range and practiced self defense, rehearsed getting shot in the back while looting/extracting. watched streamers who PVP and learned their movements, learned and started carrying a PVP weapon. and most importantly expecting a fight.

-1

u/Alembic_ 11h ago

As with everything in life, but especially video games – once things hit the mainstream it brings out the antisocial jerks who don’t know how to communicate.

The unfortunate consequence for Arc Raiders is that it’s literally BUILT on listening, communication and being inherently social so these jerks are at a baseline disadvantage in the metagame. Rampant cheating is a consequence of this – circumventing a fundamental game mechanic (communicating with those around you, listening for the specific sounds of different gunfire) by having a bot scan for high tier weapons and see enemies through walls.

This makes the issue not one of PVP vs PVE, more jerks vs well-adjusted people – so if people enjoy this game and storyworld, PVE has become the way to consistently have fun in it because PVE lobbies are jerk-free.

I love PVP in every game I play but have transitioned into PVE queues over the last 2 months and I am having a blast with great people. Yes, it’s a different game, but I prefer this over having rounds spoiled by cheaters, dupes, and jerks. Ultimately it comes down to how much disposable time you can dedicate to the game and at least this way it feels like my time’s better spent.

Why is it that everyone always cries about something instead of just quitting. Like let's write a whole book about it, or just quit.

The whole entire Arc community is laughing at your post like who the fuck gives a shit about your life story lol it's a pvp game your gonna get shot at and die.

Clown.

I really don’t understand the concept that people want to be friendly, but want to be attacked from time to time. Because…. If you are trying to be friendly and you get attacked, it’s not even a fun PvP fight. The other person just shoots you dead. 95% of fights, in solos anyways, are won by whoever shoots first

It’s why I LOVE what they’re doing with the red light thing in China. Now the tension is there because a sweaty raider with a red light can be around any corner, but you also won’t be surprised. See the red light? Shoot!

I disagree. I’m a defensive raider play style. I don’t shoot first unless the other person is extremely sus. You can definitely win after getting shot at first (especially with medium shields). The concept is I find the game way more intense and thrilling knowing I have to pay attention. In game mechanics like looking over your shoulder when breaching a door or calling extract actually matter again. Arc aren’t powerful enough to make me sweat or be fearful. Players with sus intentions have to be there. Do I hate dying to rats and getting shot in the butt? Sure, but you learn it’s part of the game. You get over gear fear eventually. With no villains it turns out movies are really boring. Give me DRAMA.

Why not the red light thing? Whats your argument against it?… And I obviously know you can win fight after being shot first, but it’s rare enough that to me, it makes the PvP lame.

I’m down to try the red light thing, I was just saying I think this game supports winning as a defender more than you might think. Unless you’re 100% taken by surprise you can outplay most rats. Either they are on a free kit or they just straight up suck (hence why they attempted to be sneaky). Only qualm with red light is it’s again losing all elements of the ā€œsocial experimentā€ that launch Arc was. Every encounter felt like playing the prisoners dilemma at scale and was pure magic. See red light shoot is brain dead compared to using instincts, assessing someone’s voice, movements, and trusting your gut. Just things I have never experienced before playing Arc Raiders.

That’s a fair take. No arguments… I’d rather the red light though. Just a difference of opinion

A civil conversation expressing two nuanced opinions? On Reddit? In this economy?!
