Official Thread Complete Ban on Private Residence Invitations and House Party Posts

Hi All,

As our community in r/BangaloreSocial grows, real-life meetups have become an incredible way to connect. However, allowing open invitations to private residences (such as house parties, flat gatherings, or villa meetups) on a public forum introduces severe safety, security, and legal liability risks for everyone involved.

To ensure the safety of our members and eliminate these real-world risks entirely, we are implementing a Zero-Tolerance Policy regarding private home gatherings, effective immediately.

🚨 The Rule

Invitations to private residences are no longer permitted on r/BangaloreSocial

  • Instant Removal: Any post organizing, inviting, or advertising a house party, flat gathering, or home meetup will be removed automatically.
  • Bypass/Evasion: Attempting to hide a private venue or telling users to "DM for address" to bypass our filters will result in an immediate and permanent ban from this subreddit.

💡 How to Host Your Meetups Safely

We still absolutely love and support community meetups! However, to keep everyone safe, all events organized on this sub must take place in a fully public venue across Bangalore.

We highly encourage you to host your gatherings at:

  • Commercial Spaces: Pubs, breweries, cafés, restaurants, or gaming arcades.
  • Public Spaces: Parks (like Cubbon Park), open community hubs, or registered event spaces.

Public venues provide their own security, have staff on hand, and allow attendees the freedom to safely walk away if they ever feel uncomfortable.

Let's keep our r/BangaloreSocial community safe, accountable, and fun! If you have any questions or want to clarify if your public venue is acceptable, please reach out via Modmail.

Why are things so hard generally in Bangalore?

I am 29, I make a decent income as a tech lead in a Big4 firm. Still it feels so many people are either in MANGO or Flipkart/Intuit/Atlassian earning 60+ LPA or 70+LPA or even 1 cr… or certain people doing next level sharktank stuff or AI based startup or business or something amazing so I’m way behind.

Even dating is hard. The standards here and the expectations from men in Hinge are unreal. It’s sheer luck to form a real connection from dating apps unless the guy looks like a insta fitness influencer, masculine, charming, speaks well and is wealthy. Kids aged 19 and all are getting ripped at the gym and getting curly hair for this LMAO

Getting a place to live is hard. Rents are crazy. Forget buying. Nothing costs less than 2 cr (decent)

Lifestyle is hard. Most things are commercialised. Every event is ticketed, hobbies have a subscription, having a good time means overspending at a cafe/brewery. Even Single Mixers are held where people mingle to form connections. Everyone is “trying” to find some meaning and happiness.

I remember even 2015-16 and those periods weren’t so hard. People were happy with what they had. Love and connections happened. Girls liked dudes who just expressed themselves with clear intent.

Is it due to social media where everyone is trying to have a little bit more? Also is this a city for only overachievers? Is it same for every Tier 1 city?

When I leave bangalore go to vacation even in other parts of India such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Udaipur, I feel as if I am able to breathe.

I don’t know how to trust anyone anymore Spoiler

It suddenly hit me that boys who come from broken families get used by everyone.

I was sitting in the office when something suddenly hit me, and I just started crying. I took the day off and went home. Things got worse because I started shivering and my vision became blurry. One of my coworkers gave me some water and dropped me off at the metro station.

I’m 26 years old and working in a reputable position at an MNC. I come from a family that was never really there for me. I’ve been in two relationships, one lasting 13 months and the other around 9 months.

My first relationship was with a Tamil girl. She was sweet and caring, and we got to know each other through mutual friends. I instantly felt emotionally safe with her. We dated for quite some time and eventually became intimate.

But after a while, I noticed changes in her routine and behaviour. Whenever we met, she would suddenly rush back home. She also started lying about where she was. I thought about talking to her about it, but one day she turned on disappearing messages on WhatsApp and sent me a message saying that she was no longer feeling the "vibe" with me and that I shouldn't message or talk to her anymore. She said that even staying friends would be difficult for her.

Later, I found out that she was already seeing someone else and that I had basically been her "credit card" while she was settling down in the city because she was new there.

I had spent quite a lot of money on her, but honestly, it never bothered me at the time. I genuinely saw a future with her and was convinced she was the one.

And then, all of a sudden, I was blocked everywhere.

That put me in a really dark and depressing state. I had no one to go to—no friends or family I could talk to. So I buried myself in work.

Six months later, I got a work assignment in Kolkata and went there for a client project.

That's where I met another girl.

She was Muslim and had a very soft and gentle personality. I never intended to get into a relationship with her, but she approached me and told me that she liked me and wanted to get to know me better.

We started talking, and eventually we began sharing our life stories and traumas with each other. I told her about my past. And, foolishly perhaps, I told her everything—about my previous relationship, my family, and the things I'd been through.

We became very close, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was healing. At least, that's what she made me feel.

She came from an upper-class, financially well-off family and lived with them. Even so, I would sometimes take care of her food, small expenses and gifts. I honestly never minded doing those things for someone I cared about.

After around six months, I noticed that some of the gifts I had given her were being used by other people. I even saw some of the gifts being worn by others. The money I had given her for Eid also seemed to be spent on other things, and she would constantly pamper her male best friend, although she had told me that he had a boyfriend.

I wasn't jealous. I trusted her.

Eventually, we kissed. Before we became intimate, she told me that one of her friends had once forced himself on her and that she felt uncomfortable with intimacy because of that. She said she needed some time.

I respected that.

But slowly, I noticed her giving more and more time to her friends. Even my simple messages would go unanswered for hours. She would say she was tired or sleeping, while I would later find out that she was actually out with her friends.

She also tried hiding her last-seen status and other things, which made the whole situation feel eerily similar to what I'd experienced in my first relationship.

So I confronted her about it.

She accused me of digitally stalking her and said I wasn't giving her enough space. During the argument, I got angry too and said that she had used a lot of my money. She made a huge issue out of that.

Eventually, I decided to end the relationship.

Over those nine months, I had spent around ₹5.73 lakh on her.

I tried to move on.

And then, today, I received a message from one of her female friends.

She sent me screenshots, pictures and messages showing that my ex had apparently been sleeping with her male "best friend" all along. She had been using my money to spend on him. Even the birthday gift I had given her was apparently given to him, and he was using it and flaunting it on Instagram.

I don't even know what to say.

I'm completely broken.

I trust people too easily. I believe people too easily. Sometimes even the smallest amount of love or care is enough for me to become emotionally attached, and now I feel like people see that as an opportunity to use me.

I feel pathetic.

I feel ashamed and embarrassed that I allowed this to happen to me twice.

I have no one right now whom I can talk to about this.

I've tried dating after my last relationship, but there's always this voice in the back of my head asking, What if she's lying to me too?

I think I'm done.

Done with love.
Done with people.
Done with family.

I'm even thinking about quitting my job and moving away from this city.

The only question I want to ask the girl from Kolkata is:

What did you actually get out of doing this to me?

If it was only about money, I could have helped you. I wouldn't have minded helping someone I loved. Why did you have to break me like this, especially after knowing what I'd already been through?

You knew I had no family to fall back on. You knew I had nowhere to go and no one to share my life with. You knew about my past and how badly my previous relationship had affected me.

And even after knowing all of that, you still chose to play with me like I was a broken toy.

Maybe I am.

Maybe I'm broken.

But I don't think I deserved to be treated like this.
writing this down while in metro, have no one to share this to and talk to...

Don’t ruin your life for someone who can move on ❤️

I know it hurts when someone you really loved leaves. You keep thinking about them, replaying everything in your head, and wondering how you’re going to move on.

But bro, please don’t destroy yourself over someone who decided to leave.

They might find someone else and move on. That’s life. But your mom? She doesn’t get another son like you.

Think about the person who loved you before anyone else did. She’s been there through everything, and all she wants is to see you happy and doing well.

So yeah, cry if you need to. Take your time. Miss them. But don’t give up on yourself.

Someone leaving your life is painful, but don’t let them take your whole life with them. ❤️

at fight club, a men’s mental health organisation in Bangalore, we are looking to socialise the conversation like it’s never been done before. and this time with 70 people (all genders) in a room over a movie night.

some came because ‘men's mental health’ is a conversation they already care about while others showed up because they were curious, or dragged along, or just wanted to see what we're about.

the interval had Dr. Paras Sharma (co-founder and director of Alternative Story, and someone who's spent 15+ years across hospitals, helplines, and corporate mental health work) opened up a conversation with the room, about what the movie is actually about: men, third spaces, and why we wait for a crisis before we talk about any of this.

we're going to break that conversation down over the next few posts: the questions he asked, what came up in the room, and how it landed for us as an organisation holding this space. if you were there, you already know how honest it got. if you weren't, this is the closest we can get you to it.

however, the biggest win for us was to hear a man say “I had my guards high up when getting into the conversation as previously these conversations usually have undertones of misandry and misogyny, but seeing this was founded by a woman and have women be a supportive part of the conversation, has surprised me”

Accidentally sent ₹9,666 to the wrong UPI ID. Bank, 1930 and police are sending me back and forth. What can I do?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on recovering ₹9,666 that I accidentally transferred to the wrong UPI ID.

Here’s what happened:

  • On 15th September, I mistakenly sent ₹9,666 to the wrong UPI ID.
  • I contacted the recipient after the transaction. Initially, he said he would return the money, so I trusted him and did not immediately file a police complaint.
  • Now he has stopped answering my calls and is not responding to my messages.

Here’s what I have done so far:

  1. Raised a complaint with my bank. They contacted the beneficiary bank, but told me they could not recover the money and eventually closed the complaint.
  2. Called 1930 (Cyber Crime Helpline). They told me this is not considered a cybercrime and that I should approach my bank.
  3. Approached the police. They told me to contact 1930/cybercrime.
  4. So now I’m basically being sent from bank → 1930 → police → bank, while the person who has my money is not responding.

I have the UPI transaction details, UTR/transaction ID, recipient's UPI ID, screenshots of my conversations, and proof that I initially contacted him and he agreed to return the money.

I really want to recover this money and I’m feeling quite helpless at this point.

What should I do next?
Should I file a written police complaint/FIR despite being told to contact 1930? Is there any specific complaint process through NPCI or RBI that I should follow? Has anyone successfully recovered money in a similar wrong-UPI-transfer situation?

Any practical advice on the exact next steps would be really appreciated.

Does anyone else feel like they’re wasting their 20s?

• Upvotes

I’m 24, and sometimes I look at my life and wonder where the last few years went.
I work, go to the gym, watch movies, read, meet people occasionally but somehow it still feels like I’m just waiting for life to actually begin.
Lately, I’ve also been feeling like I need someone a girlfriend, someone I can genuinely connect with and share things with. But at the same time, I haven’t been able to actually find or build that kind of relationship.
I’m not exactly unhappy. I just don’t feel like I’m living as much as I’m observing my own life.

I don’t know what to do

What would be Bengaluru's crowd response to a BBQ stall serving vegetarian products like Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Soya Chaap etc, made with clean home ingredients?

I’m thinking of starting a small weekend BBQ stall in Bengaluru focused entirely on vegetarian grilled food.

The idea would be things like:

  • Paneer Tikka
  • Malai Paneer
  • Tandoori Soya Chaap
  • Achari Soya Chaap
  • Tandoori Mushroom
  • Grilled Pineapple

The main USP would be freshly made marinades using clean, home-style ingredients, with everything grilled fresh in front of the customer.

P.S. The picture is from a BBQ party which I hosted at home, a commercial setup would of course look a lot professional.

it takes courage to stand and rework to build relationships...

• Upvotes

We have become quick to walk away rather than work through difficulties. Replacing people feels easier than repair, because staying demands patience and courage that many no longer possess. At the first sign of friction, the instinct is to detach and move on. We discard connections not because they are beyond saving, but because saving them takes sustained effort. We misinterpret emotional numbness as peace and detachment as strength, using apathy to protect ourselves from vulnerability. We leave when honesty and real depth are required, labeling our departure as boundaries or growth.

True connection requires endurance and patience. When we choose the easy way out, we lose meaningful relationships the moment effort becomes harder than walking away.

Frustrated with men staring and catcalling while going for walks alone in the night.

I love talking walks in the night. Is there even a safe place with a civilized crowd where I could just walk around and maybe with a few seating options as well, where I could sit and read books?

It’s honestly so frustrating that in most of the streets near my residence, what’s supposed to be a peaceful, relaxing activity ends up feeling rather stressful instead !!

26M in BTM Layout | Trying to turn “we should hang out sometime” into actual plans

• Upvotes

I've been in Bangalore for almost 2 years now, but if I'm being honest, most of that time has been work → home → repeat. Life has changed quite a bit recently, and I'm realizing I'd actually like to build a proper social circle here rather than just knowing people.

I'm not looking for a huge group or a forced networking situation. More like a few genuine friendships where talking regularly and making random plans eventually becomes normal.

A little about me:

  • 🎮 Gaming — single-player stuff + FPS
  • 🍳 Amateur cooking — emphasis on amateur
  • 🏋️ Gym + occasional swimming
  • ✈️ I love traveling and have been to almost every state in India in some capacity — sometimes even if I technically just passed through
  • 🚗 Weekend trips and exploring places around BLR
  • ☕ Tea, cafes and conversations that somehow turn into 2-hour conversations

I'm pretty comfortable with platonic friendships across genders and have had close female friends before, so there's no hidden dating agenda here. I genuinely enjoy conversations where you can talk about work, life, random nonsense, or something that's been on your mind without everything having to become romantic.

I'm also more of a low-pressure, one-on-one or small-group person than a loud-party-every-weekend person.

So if you're also at that stage of life where you have people around you but somehow don't have enough people to casually text “chai?” or “want to go somewhere this weekend?”, say hi.

Could start with a small group, coffee/chai, a movie, a game, or whatever feels comfortable. If we vibe, great. If not, no awkwardness.

Need advice regarding a CoLive rent/deposit dispute

• Upvotes

I moved into a CoLive 1BHK on March 1st. Before moving in, I had a clear discussion with the salesperson that the deposit would be ₹32,000 and rent would be ₹15,000/month.

When I moved in, I paid:

* ₹30,000 as deposit

* ₹15,000 first-month rent

* ₹1,500 onboarding fee

After that, my monthly rent invoices were usually around ₹17,000–₹18,000 because of additional charges like electricity, water supply, common area maintenance, etc. I was okay with paying the additional charges, although some of these charges were never discussed with me before I moved in.

The bigger issue is with my deposit and outstanding amount.

My deposit was showing as ₹36,000 in the CoLive app, even though the agreed deposit was ₹32,000. I contacted CoLive, and they told me they would reduce ₹2,000 and make some adjustment, but I honestly couldn’t understand how the calculation was being done.

I’ve continued paying my monthly dues since March.

Now, on October 1st, I suddenly received an invoice showing around ₹27,000 as pending. After their ₹2,000 adjustment, it’s still around ₹25,000.

This makes no sense to me because the rent we discussed was ₹15,000, and I have been paying my monthly invoices throughout my stay.

I now want to raise my notice period and leave the property, but CoLive is refusing to let me raise the notice because they say I have outstanding dues.

At this point, I’m considering leaving the property and treating my ₹32,000 deposit as the amount they can adjust against whatever legitimate dues exist, rather than paying this additional ₹25,000 without understanding where it came from.

My questions are:

  1. Can CoLive legally prevent me from raising my notice period because they claim I have outstanding dues?

  2. If I leave without paying this disputed ₹25K, what can they actually do?

  3. Since I submitted my PAN and Aadhaar for KYC, can this create any problem for me later, such as a legal case, credit score/CIBIL issue, or anything else?

  4. Has anyone else faced a similar issue with CoLive?

  5. Should I send them a formal email disputing the amount and asking for a complete statement of account before I do anything?

I have screenshots/messages regarding the ₹32K deposit and ₹15K rent discussion, as well as the invoices/payment history.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with CoLive or a similar rental dispute in Bangalore.
