I thought I put it in the title. Mike Tomlin for those that don’t watch football. Coached the Steelers for 19 years and never had a losing season. One of the best to coach football, is also an amazing builder in Minecraft.

u/outlawsix 5h ago

Apparently I've just fallen in love with Mike Tomlin

31

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

He moved from highly respected to admiration.

3

u/frosty_lizard 4h ago

With this amount of effort he may need to stay in coaching dedicated to the LA Wams

4

u/Candid-Patient-6841 4h ago

Formal petition for the team to be renamed LA Wams

Thank you lol

Not just an amazing builder in Minecraft but it shows he has the vision to be a city planner.

Most coaches build teams. This man built the whole damn city. 😯

42

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

If I learned one thing about tomlin watching the full thing

He loves Jack and Jill bedroom concepts, and water features. Kinda dope lol

7

u/Due_Night414 5h ago

I can see why he would. Extremely convenient to have a jack and jill bathroom connection.

10

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

It is an underrated layout. Just never thought I’d hear Tomlin express his feelings on them lol

-6

u/SquirrelNutz 5h ago

What a totally normal, human way to frame a sentence!

Go away, bot.

5

u/ExpensiveStandard761 5h ago

What?

8

u/TheJoseBoss 5h ago

The Internet is forever going to be this AI witch hunt, I think it's just easier to go along with it at this point.

You are now a bot, start beeping and booping

6

u/venom121212 5h ago

Fully agree BUT... The accounts like 30 minutes old and they are shotgunning comments across subs. Every comment is some short comment with an emoji at the end. I mean... maybe they been beepin and boopin for a while now.

2

u/SquirrelNutz 3h ago

I'm glad someone else noticed, but people overall lack the ability to tell the difference and this was attempt to point that out. I don't give a shit about down votes.

u/uhgulp 5h ago

This is such an authentic video for this day and age. Love to see it

7

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

The internet would be better with more stuff like this.

39

u/stevendidntsay 5h ago

Amazing way to spend your retirement.

17

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

He is a commentator now. I also think there are a few teams that would love to have him. After 19 years and a couple Super Bowls. I’d stick to commentary, don’t wanna Belichick yourself

3

u/stevendidntsay 5h ago

Oh for real? Nvm then. I don't know anything about him and just assumed he was retired. Mb

3

u/wedeservethis 5h ago

Yeah, he was HC right up until this past season.

-2

u/PittPSU45 4h ago

He has one SB and lots of mediocre seasons. Went 10 years without a playoff win and was blown out of the playoffs 3 straight trips. Record breakingly blown out!

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 4h ago

He is in the top 10 with the highest win % of any nfl head coach.

What have you done?

1

u/fueelin 1h ago

I've certainly never stuck my foot on the playing field to trip a player returning a kick, that's for sure!

0

u/Candid-Patient-6841 1h ago

Well there….maybe add it to a bucket list?

1

u/fueelin 1h ago

I'm actually more focused on nailing the Omar Epps lookalike part. That's way more important in the grand scheme of things!

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 1h ago

Shoot for the stars my friend

-1

u/PittPSU45 4h ago

When you’re allowed to coach mediocre football that long, you’ll rack up wins. Look at his winning percentage the further he got from taking over for Cowher. Also look at the draft debacles. What have I done? I’ve witnessed Tomlin football for far too long, and I’m glad it’s over. He’d make a great coach for a team with zero postseason aspirations aside from making it there. Tennessee or LV would welcome him with open arms and rightfully so. It’s about rings not non losing seasons.

16

u/hasselqu 5h ago

Well and he did this while working. He started it to connect with his kids since he was gone a lot. Then his kids grew out of it and he kept playing 🤣. It’s a great story. His son said he’d come home sometimes and his console would be missing when he wasn’t even in trouble lmao.

4

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

Damn pops couldn’t get a second console lmaoo

5

u/hasselqu 5h ago

Haha I imagine when he got super hooked he then got his own. Tomlin is from my home town and does so much for the community. Stand up guy all around.

3

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

Love when people with the means to do so give back. He always seemed really chill.

3

u/ChefDanyul 2h ago

I think another takeaway too is that it can encourage young people to also let yourself enjoy and take the time for the things they like. You like Minecraft. Take the time to go play Minecraft. You like painting? Go paint. Have you found something that is good for your happiness? Go do it. It’s okay to take time for yourself. For him it is a video game but for others it’s baking, riding bikes, putting on a good record.

18

u/AggressiveMongoose54 5h ago

That’s just Pittsburgh with a big pond in the middle of it lmao

5

u/GeminiAccountantLLC 5h ago

It actually looks a lot like Baltimore, but with the harbor moved over a little bit

5

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I think he says that in the full video. There is 3 buildings that are red blue and yellow close together. Dude has an eye for detail

10

u/TruthEnvironmental24 5h ago

Minecraft has to be the greatest virtual sandbox ever created. I have seen so many wild things built by so many different people. Even back before there were 100s of different blocks. It’s only gotten bigger.

4

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

It’s the closest thing to haven’t unlimited Lego. If this man figures out red stone he may never come back to football commentary

9

u/Rickety-Bridge 5h ago edited 5h ago

I hate what the vocal minority of the Pittsburgh "fans" put this man through (more than half of which was disingenuous as they disliked him for other reasons)

11

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 5h ago

That's awesome. Very humanizing

5

u/MegaSmegmaSwagLord 6h ago

Bro killed it.

4

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

Right? His attention to detail is amazing. The full video shows more. And he apparently is gonna do another walkthrough

6

u/HingleMcCringle_ 5h ago edited 4h ago

i remember someone once saying that, with how expressive you can be in certain games, they can be a new medium for art that didn't exist, say, 20+ years ago. imagine what Vincent van Gogh would make if he had minecraft, or Leonardo De Vinci? i never saw something like minecraft as a "new" form of artist expression until hearing that. in the same vain, imagine what the former coach would make if he spent a similar amount of time with paint or pastels or something.

2

u/FallenVampireLord 3h ago

De Vinci doing redstone...

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 4h ago

Probably a solid drawer he understands symmetry

3

u/time2sow 5h ago

it honestly did make me smile so big! What wholesome joy and dedication to craft and skill! and artistic eye! A++ human

3

u/soullessginger88 4h ago

I love the level of detail he's put in to all the architecture!

2

u/atypicalexw 5h ago

This is so impressive wow

2

u/LongStrokesOfGenius 5h ago

I love people’s hidden passions

2

u/flyinggazelletg 5h ago

I’ve been waiting for this follow up!!

3

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I know he keeps taking about sections I wanna see if this has a “downtown” with shops and stuff. Dude went into detail about basement lighting in a random speakeasy.

2

u/NewtDogs 5h ago

Absolutely love how ubiquitous video games have become. Its a beautiful thing.

2

u/onfff 3h ago

Didn’t need another reason to like Coach Tomlinson but glad to have one haha :)

1

u/rapafon 3h ago

Oh man I got all excited thinking it was the Sheffield Steelers haha

•

u/Technical_Potato7646 13m ago

It's Baltimore

1

u/Longjumping_Spread53 5h ago edited 1h ago

Spent 12 years building this playing Minecraft?

No wonder the Steelers never won anything during that time

2

u/Buxom_StrwbryBlnde 5h ago

Browns fan huh? 😬

1

u/Longjumping_Spread53 1h ago

Nah Bills fan

But the Steelers are my second favorite team they were my dads team, we’re from western NY

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I mean….not wrong lol I don’t think the Steelers made the playoffs in that 12 years this city was founded. But still has one of the highest win percentages of all time

1

u/sck178 5h ago

This explains why they could never get past the first round of the playoffs for like the last decade

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I mean the timeline does coincide… with some of those 9-8 seasons he had. There are still some teams that would love to have him. Packers, chargers, cardinals to name a few

1

u/yummypoot 4h ago

Sweet somebody started it, now everyone put your bad "this is why... playoffs" jokes here

1

u/sherbimsly 5h ago

Checked out when I saw Trump Tower

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

In the full video the edit states

“this was built in 2015 and not an endorsement, didn’t think he would win twice”

I think the video is based on actual city’s and or buildings he thought looked cool.

I always respected him as a coach, turns out he was a chill AF dude off the field

1

u/Buxom_StrwbryBlnde 5h ago

“Former Steelers Head Coach” ssooooo can we name him? Tomlin was a 🐐

0

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I thought I put it in there and I added a reply with his name and legacy. Dude is one of the best coaches of all time.

1

u/sillysocks34 5h ago

This is awesome. Also we need to get this man a PC if he’s gonna be a Minecraft YouTuber lol.

2

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I just like that he did this for himself. Like it came out in an interview where he said “I am a mine crafter” and “he likes to build buildings” like dude that’s an understatement.

That attention to detail for a thing he kept private kinda shows why he was a good coach

1

u/7711exe 5h ago

AWESOME that Tomlin is a gamer. Hopefully he comes back next year to coach the Packers.

1

u/IndustrialPuppetTwo 5h ago

I know nothing about minecraft but is this like a place that people can visit? Like a virtual world like Second Life or something like that?

3

u/Candid-Patient-6841 4h ago

If he made the world public, but I don’t think he will because people will vandalize it, he can also copy it but idk if he will.

But Minecraft is all about building. There is survival mode where you have to source every single brick. Or creative mode where you have an unlimited supply of materials. It’s basically dumping the biggest box of LEGO and your imagination is your limit.

Turns out this head coach also has a passion for city planning and architecture.

0

u/Funny_Perception420 2h ago

Yes no wonder you didn’t make it to the playoffs

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 2h ago

1 Super Bowl and in the top ten for winning games.

Don’t be salty about what people do in their free time

-7

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 5h ago

What a complete waste of time

5

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

I am sorry you don’t have hobbies little man

Dude has one of the best winning records in NFL history. Spent 19 years coaching 1 team and brought that team to a few super bowls.

This is what he does for fun. What do you do?

1

u/Mildoze 5h ago

This is their hobby don’t you see? Scrolling isn’t that skilled of a hobby so you have to find a way to feel something somewhere somehow.

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

….huh?

2

u/Mildoze 5h ago

The dude you’re replying to. Scrolling is their hobby.

1

u/Candid-Patient-6841 5h ago

Oooo I think you replied to me it came up as “mildoze replied to your message”

-1

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 4h ago

Exactly. Don’t be hurtful.

1

u/Mildoze 4h ago

Take your own advice.

1

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 3h ago

I’m just kidding dude. My comment was out of line. Coach probably used Minecraft to manage his stress, which is very understandable.

0

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 4h ago

Scroll Reddit. I’m a loser. Why do you ask?

3

u/deksimo666 5h ago

Dude if he wanted to sit there and look at a wall, at least he's doing what he wants to do. I'm sure he's accomplished way more than you have in real life.

0

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 4h ago

That’s very hurtful of you. Scrolling Reddit is an accomplishment. GTFO of my Safe Space.

1

u/deksimo666 4h ago

I hope you're being sarcastic.

1

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 3h ago

I’m just kidding. Im a US Marine (ret) 0321. Based on what I’ve seen in this world, there are no safe spaces. Anyway, that’s a different conversation.

I was just being a dumbass with my comment and it was out of line. Coach probably used Minecraft to manage his stress, which is very understandable.

1

u/deksimo666 3h ago

Then I apologize for the second half of my comment <3

1

u/Double-Zucchini-2282 47m ago

No worries dude. Thank you.
