Am I the only one that would be weirded out if my wife/gf surprised me when I was abroad on a trip?

It's all situational. Imagine you have to work overseas or go to school and your partners back at home. I would love a surprise visit from my loved one while I am gone. If everything is set in stone and were already married with a life, then yeah id say that it be weird with lots of questions.

Most things in life, context matters. If you are abroad studying for a semester, then, yeah, surprise visits are fun.

If you're on a weekend trip with your friends, then getting away from your family/partner/etc is the purpose of the trip, so having them show up and surprise you is rude.

I am sure you're not, but that's a preference thing, I'd say.

How is the context your arrived at "controlling live-in partner crashing a girls trip and not "friends organise suprise meetup of long-distance couple"?

Why would these women be excitedly filming their friend's controlling partner turning up unannounced?

I wouldn’t, I’d actually be surprised in a great way. I’ve been away on training for over a month (not long enough to be allowed to take my family with me, but long nonetheless), and seeing her in person would absolutely make my month.

I would think someone had died back home.

No. I would be pissed.... who's watching the kids, the dog?  If you had time off and money to burn why didn't we plan our own trip?  Where the heck are you staying cause you aren't in our room. Do you expect me to move to your room????

I’m personally not a fan of surprises either, but I’d hope the answer to the kids/dog question would be that your partner is responsible enough to arrange care. lol

You think these people just abandoned their kids and pets? LMAO

I think in the above clips they're meant to be shown "returning," but in most posts, such as the "surprise at work" stuff, I completely agree

If you had all that free time to begin with then wtf are you doing???
