Maybe it’s because one of the posts in my feed before this one was of Chris Isaak forcibly kissing Cameron Diaz at a VMA award show. But, it’s really sad that so many of these women froze up in response to a stranger invading her personal space and there are even comments from people who are upset that some of these women weren’t nearly assertive enough. But, unless you have been in that position (as I have) where a stranger unexpectedly touches you without warning, then you should not be so quick to judge what is or isn’t an appropriate response.

You’re probably right that some are just trolls.

But, I think there’s something else happening here, too. Most men can’t imagine what it’s like to have a stranger who is taller and stronger than you touch you out of the blue because it will probably never happen to them.

And, even though I think of myself as a very assertive person, this happened to me recently and it was so unexpected that I had a brief period of shock (10 - 15 minutes) before I could process what had happened and then report the man who touched me inappropriately.
