Article [WEISS] Dylan Harper, Tobias Harris and more give Spurs ‘a great problem’ to solve
SAN ANTONIO — Who will start for the San Antonio Spurs this season? Not even Devin Vassell knows for sure.
In the middle of a thorough question that was winding its way toward asking whether Spurs coach Mitch Johnson has discussed the starting lineup with Vassell — who has started almost every game in which he’s been available for the past four seasons — the Spurs wing started to laugh.
“I see where this question is going,” he said Wednesday. “I was waiting for it.”
When the question ended, there wasn’t much to add. Sure, Johnson probably has an idea of how he wants to shape his lineups this season, but those can only be written in pencil at this point. Tobias Harris joins a wing group that needed size and playmaking ability. Dylan Harper’s play last season made the idea of him coming off the bench seem insane, but reality may get in the way.
Johnson hasn’t told Vassell what the plan is yet, so Vassell doesn’t know who’ll be in the Spurs’ starting five. Nobody really does.

Fluff I cant wait to see Tarris Reed play
I can imagine him setting brick wall screens to get wemby free from bigs like hartenstein that teams throw at wemby to slow him down.

I hope we can win over 60+ wins and reach the finals again, but obviously we need to beat the thunder again and obviously the newly improved wolves.

Discussion Predicitons for how many games are we wining this year?
Just went through our schedule,
Barring injuries, I am seeing around 65 wins this season. Not a whole lot of teams who can beat us. Back-to-back good teams are rough, though.
I don't see us beating the league record; teams have had time to study us last year.
Still, we should be better than last year: better roster, more experienced, continuity, and hopefully fewer injuries.

Discussion One good thing about Tobias Harris playing with Wemby
It's that he does what Wemby should do a lot more often : catch and shoot those middies over smalls.
When teams put smalls on wemby, like okc did with caillou, he should just turn around and shoot over their head. I remember when Wemby got drafted a lot of people compared him to KD, saying he was a taller KD. Imo wemby is a lot better than KD, but that doesn't mean he can't learn from him.
He really need to shoot those midrange shots without thinking too much and always trying to play small. He should only go for dribbles when he's guarded by other bigs, cuz he's so skilled for his size that he can just smoke them.
The best example I have in mind is his matchup vs gobert last play off. Gobert did good vs jokic because he used his size to bother him and jokic isn't as technical as wemby. However, doing the same against wemby didn't work as well cuz wemby could dribble him from the perimeter to the rim.
After the series, gobert made an interview in french where he literally admitted that the only thing he had over wemby was physicality, and the thing that's surprised him the most was that victor managed to keep his stamina a lot better than the wolves coaching staff thought he would. His gameplan was to exhaust him because that's literally the only thing he and other bigs in the league can do against wemby.
That's why frankenstein fouled him so much and chet hologram kept grabbing his arms. They all know they can't guard him otherwise.
I hope playing with Harris will make him realize that he doesn't have to play ball with smalls cuz that's what they're the most confident at. Keep this for the bigs cuz they can't keep up, but against smalls if he takes those middies like a taller KD there's literally nothing they can do against him.
7 feet guys can't block his jumper, so forget about smaller dudes.

Stats & Analytics What's Wemby offensive ceiling considering the 2025-2026 season ?
Everyone talks about Wemby as a very dominant defensive player but not nearly as good in offense, while I think it's true I wanted to check how he compares to other very offensive players, I choose Durant and Jokic but it's not cherry picked, you can chose any other one.
When you look at offensive advance stats he is on par or even a little bit higher than the other two and I actually couldn't find anyone above him at the same age except Lebron.
When you look at classic stats per 36 he has more points per 36 than the other two, the highest true shooting (not considering era so biased obviously), a little bit bellow in FT% but he gets more FT, a very high volume of 3PT, good assist/turnover ratio for his post.
Now if we compare him to their prime his has to get +2 to match peak DARKO offense of Kevin Durant and +1 to match Jokic peak DARKO offense. So still down but not as much as I expected.
If we look at classic stats, he is already in points/36 above both of them in their prime. He is also obviously under in 3PT% but taking much more shots than Kevin and Jokic, his efficiency is comparable to Durant (again, not same era) but significantly lower than Jokic. He is also higher than Durant in assist but lower than Jokic.
So, TLDR stats seem to show higher/similar offensive performance than two of the best offensive players ever at the same age and while still below their primes, not shockingly far. Do you think Wemby has the potential to surpass them purely offensively if he continues his trajectory ? Do you think these stats overestimate Wemby or underestimate the others ? Also what do you think would help him take another leap offensively ?

Shitpost Do you think this is the year Victor Nonga Wembanyama-de Fautereau-Vassel wins MVP?
I dont think Shaivonte Aician Gilgeous-Alexander wins it because of voter fatigue but there's still tough competition from players like Giannis Sina Ougko Antetokounmpo.

Shitpost houston we have a problem
the rockets appear determined to keep being good enough to stay out of the play in, and bad enough to never make it out of the first round. which means spurs fans will be deprived of the houston beatdown we need :(
