Video Quentin Coleman Scouting Breakdown

Thumbnail youtu.be

Quentin Coleman is one of the most well-rounded guards in the 2027 NBA Draft. He is an elite jump shooter, ball handler, and passer. That brings an elite impact in the trenches as well. Getting rebounds and creating turnovers as a defender. He is going to fit perfectly at Illinois. And his tenacity, effort, and nonstop engagement bode well for his potential as an NBA prospect.

Preseason Prospect Picks #2: Quentin Coleman or Austin Goosby?

Seeing both become the trendy names for lottery picks despite not being consensus top-20 picks. Both are shooters and kinda shooting guards with some other interesting stuff, from what I can tell.

Who do you think will do better this year and be a higher pick?

Why isn't baskonia in the euroleague league not giving Josksimovic enough minutes?

He might drop out of the lottery if this continues

Preseason Prospect Picks: #1 - Stefan Joksimovic or Colben Landrew?

Curious where people on this sub who have studied both players might land and who they think is likely to be drafted higher in the 2027 NBA Draft.

Landrew seems like a cult favorite online from analytics folks and film fiends alike. Joksimovic checks a ton of boxes and exploded this summer, but faces a minutes blockade in Europe.

Who you taking and why?

Toure, Smith Jr, Miikka, Andrews, and Richmond

Coach Cal has five guys who could be first round picks next year. That’s going to be fun to watch, I think I like Toure the most as far as excitement. I can’t believe Hurley let him get out of Connecticut.

Miikka may have the most upside, I know he’s a controversial prospect some love him and some think he’s not even draft able.

Jordan Smith Jr. is probably guaranteed top 5, he looks like a guard version of Shaq.

Wanting to hear from Koa Peat optimists

(know most in this sub are looking ahead of the '27 class now but I still want to chat about this particular '26 draftee haha)

I really, really like Koa Peat when I watch him but have a hard time verbalizing why when trying to make my case to Koa Peat skeptics. I 100% understand the concerns about his jumper / tweener positionality, but something about him to me screams a guy who will figure it out. I guess I just want to hear from more people who can better express what that "something" is.

For me, it's something about his physicality+feel for making what I perceive as "winning plays," which have been green flag indicators for me in recent years. I feel like he's one of those guys like Josh Hart (who had a pretty different prospect profile, to be clear) who just seems to have the feel+IQ+dawg to overcome on-paper skill deficiencies and become contributors to winning baskeball.

But obviously all the above is still super vague so I wanted to hear how other Koa Peat optimists spread their propaganda.

New draft combine drill idea

I call it the “microwave scoring”

You get the ball and in 3 minutes, score as many points as possible.
You can also show off your rebounding by catching the ball and show off moves like step backs Or dribbles. You might even just show off your talents by dunking from free thro line or whatever.

statistically you will all be rated from best to worst by the amount of score you get, but scouts will more likely see your bag and your personality more than looking at your score.

Basically just a drill for these players to have fun and go crazy

Might have the side effect of tripling shot chuckers coming Into nba.

Bonus rule: ball refresh

You could show a gesture of asking for a ball and the assistant will instantly pass you a ball. But only the last ball you ordered will count as the ball you can shoot, so no picking up balls.

Is this a suitable drill for nba combine?

Who is the better player between Jayden Quaintance and Aday Mara ?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Now that there seem to be not much concerns about JQ injury, that he should recover completely, who's the best player ? We got two bigs, JQ is extremely athletic and insane wingspan but shorter than Aday Mara and Aday seem better on defense, both lack of shooting. JQ is also younger.

What is their respective ceiling / floor in your opinion ?

What are the realistic expectations for Neoklis Avdalas this year?

He had a huge first game last year then everything went downhill since then. I am a casual college basketball follower and want to know what are the expectations for him this year from the people on here who watched enough minutes of him

Instagram Dash Daniels Vs Perth Wildcats(NBL) 24 PTS (9/13 FG, 2/4 3PT, 4/4 FT) 12 REBS, 0 ASTS, 3TOS

I had to delete this post and redo it coz I put the wrong link in, some dickheads loud ass exhaust was making me half deaf at 12am and it distracted me a bit but that's Australia for u.

Anyway, Dash Daniels looks a different player this year, it helps hes that he's starting and getting a lot more minutes now at his new team but he's earned those minutes with his development over the off-season. Jumper looks still looks a bit janky but much improved from last season and he's taking threes with much more confidence this year. He really impressed getting to the rim, had a few nice moves and he's bulked up too so that helps to make him an even more physical player than he already was. Defensively looked great as usual, had a few disruptive deflections but the biggest surprise for me, even more than his shooting prowess was his rebounding. He had 10 Rebs at the half and was 1 PT shy of a double double AT THE HALF! He's still only 18, man he looks a lock to go in the first round if he continues this form the rest of the season.

Sam Vecenie Moving to Rusillo Show/Barstool

Think his long form written work going to take a big hit and I am not sure what this means for the draft guide's future but if that isn't a thing anymore then that's a huge loss for the draft community. No Ceilings gotta pick up the torch.

The only I can think of are Tyran Tanner, Jeremy Fears jr , Acaden Lewis and maybe Stefan Josksimovic .

What is the “next” NBA archetype?

Post image
406 Upvotes

So in the 90s teams drafted size. Big boys, tall and “thick”. 2010s it’s 3-and-D, long 6”7 dudes. If we all agree the next decade belongs to Wemby what is the “next” archetype we’re gonna see getting drafted?

What if we only drafted based on 3-and-D-ability?

Thumbnail drafttimemachine.com

Thought experiment here. Teams are obsessed with the ability to defend multiple positions in today’s game and you need to have “some” shooting ability to go along with that. So what if we drafted on that potential alone.

So I redrafted the 2023 based on ability to defend multiple positions (click through to see the full first round) and college/pro 3 point shooting. A few busts in there but some that might work.

What ya’ll think? Am I on to something?

What if scouts drafted on Box-Plus-Minus (BPM) alone?

Thumbnail drafttimemachine.com
10 Upvotes

Reflecting on the number of draft “busts” who were projected based on potential rather than actual proven impact it got me thinking what if scouts prioritized “winning” and age as the measure of future success.

So I tested this out with a redraft of the 2025 draft solely on Box-Plus-Minus (BPM) stats of the first round and picked em top to bottom, check it out if your interested.

Tell me what you think? Could this work? Should this work?

We see it every year, the late riser who is drafted on potential or trendy comparison (people thought Darko was Dirk2.0) over a better prospect?
