PoliticalTea š³ļø The definition of a true patriot...

It says something about the US that an intelligent, dedicated and highly principled man is being ruthlessly persecuted for doing his duty -- while a convicted felon and his minions are holding the levers of power and laughing maniacally at the law and at the people they're supposed to be serving.

If only there were historical examples of what happens to a country once anti-intellectualism takes hold and perceived political threats start being prosecuted.

this mother fucker has reads, get him!!

u/WastedNinja24 3h ago
You laugh (I did), but itās happened.
Chinese cultural revolution, for one. Pol Pot in Cambodia following.
And itās happening in the US now, though slightly different, still primarily at the govt level, and to a much less extreme (in terms of violence) degree: HHS leadership, DOD leadership, etc. They donāt want the smart people, they want the Party people.
2
u/g0ing_postal 3h ago
It also happened to an extent in the us during the red scare so it's not even the first time here
3
u/gerbilshower 4h ago
we aren't even "a long way away" from those politcal threats to get prosecuted.
look at the Democrat Senators that were targeted and murdered in their homes - Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman (John lived).
look at the Charlie Kirk murder.
its already here.

u/WastedNinja24 3h ago
I meant the public retribution against āpolitical dissidentsā using the legal/justice system, not individual violence against (persecution, perhaps?) people on opposing sides of the political spectrum. Literal āTrumped upā charges as payback and to chill (by way of making an example) further investigation efforts.
Both are bad, donāt get me wrong. I was just gearing my comment toward the former.
1
u/gerbilshower 3h ago
understand what you mean. at the end of the day it is the continual escalation of the rhetoric that eventually manifests itself in reality in one way or another.
2
u/WastedNinja24 2h ago
Yep, and not just the continual escalation. Itās their āflood the zoneā tactic to confuse and obfuscate while fatiguing the same people/system meant to keep them in check.
Itās absolutely insane that we are actually living this timelineā¦and so many people still support it and/or donāt care enough.

It's important to take a step back. This is a very loud, yet powerful minority. This is the "death cry" of evangelical bigotry we have been warned of for decades.
It is very possible that we can weather this storm and come out in a damned good position when we're old. I'm not saying to be complacent, but exaggerating the opposition only gives them more power.

When the majority (54%) of adults cannot read at a level expected of a 12 year old, this might just be democracy in action. People elect who resonates with them. Who resonates with morons?

The man has a backbone made of pure Titanium.
Would that the US had an AG with the morals and spine of this man.
It would be a different country.

u/Guilty-Cow4325 6h ago
If he's appointed instead of Garland, Trump is in prison and he never gets to run again.
32
u/Snoo93550 6h ago
Itās what Brazil did. Fucking Brazil is a healthier democracy than the USA. Talk about jumping the shark as a nation.

u/Painterzzz 5h ago
Not entirely impossible Trump and his cohorts are in Gitmo for the rest of their lives facing treason charges, not just prison.
Biden's legacy, sadly.

u/damnbyangel 6h ago
In what deranged world would Trump ran a third time? Sure bot.

u/DisputabIe_ 6h ago
Are you implying death before that would be a possibility?
-4
u/damnbyangel 6h ago
Doesn't your constitution prevent someone from running a third time?
7
u/MadderoftheFew 6h ago
the constitution only applies if people are willing to enforce it. just like any law.
8
u/ins0mniac_ 6h ago
It also prevents a convicted felon from being president.
Yet we have a convicted felon as president.
5
u/Training_Complex_731 5h ago
I'm on your side here, but our constitution actually doesn't prevent felons from being president.
2
u/dansssssss 5h ago
That's one of the many reasons the constitution shouldnt be treated like the holy bible republicans think it is
in principle someone serving a prison sentence could also be elected president
1
u/Training_Complex_731 4h ago
I honestly think that's a good thing. It prevents the ruling party from preventing opponents from running by charging them with frivolous crimes.
1
u/madKatt3r 3h ago
Idk republicans seems to follow the bible and constitution equally well so it checks out
3
3
u/Training_Complex_731 5h ago
It does, but Trump has indicated several times that he wants to run a third term and many politicians on his side have tried to argue that the Constitution only prevents you from serving three consecutive terms. It very explicitly does say three terms max altogether but since elections are run by the states he could plausibly run for the third term (the wording only prevents him from serving, not running) and then if he won again the matter would go to the Supreme Court.

Trump ran in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Thatās three times.
Had garland done what he should have, Trump would not have run in 2024.
2
u/Training_Complex_731 5h ago
He ran in 2000 as an independent as well but never made it past the primaries.

Man, this is a person whose integrity towers high above anyone in the Trump cabinet. I applaud his bravery.

If Merrick Garland was half the man Jack is, we wouldn't be in this mess. trump would've been prosecuted before he had a chance to campaign for this term

This man did his job, presented evidence of crimes and is being harassed and attacked by the party of law and order. Why are no questions being asked as to why Trump facilitated Jan 06?

How much mass surviellence has congress given power to enact?
How did they react about the single NSA agent who leaked the illegal programs they had help author?Ā

Trump is a traitor, Republicans have lost their soul to fascist ideology, time to vote blue and lock the gop away in a dark dungeon for life.

"Trump has portrayed you as the soyjack, how are you not devastated right now?"
1
u/Successful_Note_5871 3h ago
The Republicans are the reason for these hearings happening again, right? Did they think reminding us of all of this would be a good move for the midterms? They're incompetency seems to be purposeful at this point.

If a Democrat wins in 2028 and they do not appoint Jack Smith as AG, it will be a crime against humanity.

Itās really impressive heās able to do this on his feet. I would just sit in stunned disbelief at some of this shit.
Heās battle hardened.

With all due respect, donāt most criminals call those holding them accountable names? Trumpās a felon, a rapist, and quite possibly a pedophile. Iām sure heād be angry at anyone trying to expose his crimes.
