My children and I are thinking about a trip to Prague the last week of March/first week of April 2027. We are a hockey family and would like to go to a game. It appears this is during playoffs. It also seems that tickets in Prague are a hot commodity.

The biggest question for us at the moment is daycare/kindergarten. Our daughter doesn't speak Czech, so we're wondering how difficult it would be for her to start in a Czech kindergarten.

• How hard was it to find a place in kindergarten?
• Did you choose a Czech or English-speaking kindergarten?
• How did your child handle not speaking the local language?
• How long did it take them to pick up Czech?
• Is it realistic to put a 4-year-old straight into a Czech kindergarten, or would you recommend an English/international one first?
• What kind of prices should we expect?
• Any particular kindergartens or areas of Prague you'd recommend?

I’m a fresh postgraduate with a degree in statistical data analysis and modelling. My training covered all sorts of practical topics, such as econometrics, regression, time series, multivariate statistics and methods, clustering, classification, hypothesis testing, machine-learning, etc. A toolkit that sounds a bit abstract but can be useful in so many real-world scenarios 🥲

My thesis dealt with creating a full machine-learning pipeline to identify and reconcile duplicate data among online housing datasets. I’m very familiar with Python and R, and I also have experience in compiling code into working web applications. I’m good at mining and transforming data through pipelines to achieve all sorts of informational and analytical outcomes.

My key weakness: I have little work experience in the field 🥹 So far, it’s the time of the year when companies are planning for future hiring, so it’s not going crazy thus far.

Anywho, any tips are always appreciated 💪

cau uz dlouho chci delat hudbu, ale moje financni situace mi nedovoluje si koupit nejaky prislusenstvi. od mala me bavi hudba a vzdy jsem ji chtela sama skladat a zpivat. byl to muj sen uz od detstvi. nekolikrat jsem doma prisla za rodicema, jestli mi nechteji koupit treba kytaru, abych mohla hrat. oni mi vzdy rekli, ze je to blbost. byla jsem smutna, a tak jsem se na to vykaslala. muj verny kamarad me privedl zpatky k hudbe. sam ji vytvari a ja mu to moc zavidim.

1. proc si nenajdes brigadu? dojizdim do skoly 2 hodiny. byla drina se na tu skolu dostat, a tak to nechci vzdat jenom kvuli dalce.
2. na co potrebujes midi klavesy? jelikoz chci sama produkovat hudbu, tak musim toho umet vic nez jen pouhou kytaru.
3. proc to netukas na pocitaci? proc bys to delal. to je slozite a nejde toho tolik zahrat

takze vazeni cesi, nenasel by se tu nekdo, kdo by byl ochoten, mi darovat sve klidne stare midi klavesy nebo proste piano s midi vystupem.. nemusi byt full, ale hrozne moc bych ho chtela... :D

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but it needs to be known. V Koutku at Elišky Peškové 79 has a ton of Nazi memorabilia on its walls. All I could get a picture of was this clock, but there's a Waffen SS calendar, signs stating "v teto restaurace neni misto pro demokracii" as well as dumb shit like a picture of Squidward with an SS cap on his head, or a Luigi figurine in a toy panzer with his arm raised as though in a Nazi salute.

My wife and I ducked in there hoping for a quiet dive bar to enjoy a couple beers. We only gradually noticed the shit all over the walls. Nothing comes up online regarding this place as being associated with Nazis, so I figured I'd post something here.

Zdravím, já jsem cizinec a bydlím v Praze skoro 5 let. Dělám jazykové kurzy a mám teď zároveň češtinu mezi B1-B2. Psanou a mluvenou češtinu rozumím docela dobře ale plynně mluvit mi ještě vůbec nejde… a cítím že ty kurzy mě ještě nepomáhá zlepšit mluvení.

Mám české kamarády ale obvykle mluvíme anglicky ze zvyku a to taky nepomáhá..

Tak ta otázka: chtěl by někdo jít na pivo, kávu, nebo jen procházku okolí Prahy? Nemusí to být často nebo velmi dlouho.. doufám že to bude pomáhat zlepšit češtinu (a doufám že nebudu moc nudný partner v konverzaci!) je mi 35 let a mám různé zájmy (historie, hlavně středo- a východní evropské, literatura, deskové hry, cestování..). Mam rodinu a proto omezený čas, takže pro mě nejpraktičtější by bylo de sejít na 1-2 hodinu po práci…

Předem chci říct,že chci, aby bylo tohle vlákno hlavně pro zábavu, nikoho nechci z ničeho osočit nebo podezírat.

A ted k věci. Bydlime s manželem v bytě v Praze. Ještě donedávna byl dům na pozemku nad náma prázdný. Viděla jsem inzerát a ra cena byla dost vysoká. Ale díky tomu jsme měli krásný vyhled do zeleně aspon z jedné strany, nebyl žádný zajrmce o koupi. To se ale na jaře změnilo a někdo se tam nastěhoval a skoro vsechny strpmy šly dolů. Zvláštní je, že přesto,že bylo ze uahrady dost vykaceno, nikdo tam netráví čas. Ještě divnější je, že jsou všechna okna zakrytá. V přízemí zřejmě žaluziemi, první patro je zaskladáno krabicema. Co myslíte, že se tam děje?

I’m an American studying abroad here for the next few months and I was wondering where the cheapest place is for out of pocket flu shots since I’m not a Czech citizen and don’t have international health insurance. Or are they gonna charge me a bunch of fees for being a foreigner and a new patient? Is it just not worth it? After cleaning the trash from the handrail last week https://www.reddit.com/r/Prague/comments/1wo9ap2/the_hideous_handrail_of_trash_on_pet%C5%99%C3%ADn_is_no_more/, I have visited that place quite a few times. It was really heartwarming. People just kept arriving, admiring the view, taking photos and just vibing. With over 80 funicular rides per day, which were mostly full, at least 5000 people seeing it every day, taking thousands upon thousands of photos, and the response my last post got, I knew I had to come back for round 2, and take down the locks and stickers.

So I geared up with some petroleum ether and other cleaning stuff, and a nice pair of wire cutters, and went back. The stickers took quite a bit longer to take off than I expected, and one of the most stubborn ones survived. It is not perfect, but it is honest work.

Can't seem to find the booking for it. The screening in screen 6 is probably the standard aspect showing?
