Ashen One defeating Yhorm the Giant (Dark Souls 3)
While he's not this big in-game, people usually use this meme template to show how the smaller guy has no chance, but in-game, the Ashen One wins because of the Storm Ruler Sword, or, if you want, you can take Yhorm out without it.
Profaned Capital was a disappointing area overall with how small it was, and Yhorm being a meh boss didn’t help. Which sucks because the actual design and art direction of the area is some of my favorite in the series.
The funny thing is that the Storm Ruler is just there in case you forgot to pack a ranged attack option. Yhorm's weak point is his head, and he goes down just as quickly if you shoot him in the face, provided you time your shots well.
But nothing else in DS3 incentivizes range at any point, so it's just easier for melee players to nab Storm Ruler, lol.
The gameplay just simply isn't designed for it, and its very apparent in the first game with the dragon fight. They tried to do scale like the Greek games, but forgot that the camera wasn't meant for it
Not to mention if Goliath was a "giant" he probably suffered from Gigantism or some other growth disorder and was used as a threat instead of an actual warrior. They'd challenge the enemy hero, wheel out this overgrown monstrosity, and the hero would immediately forfeit because who the fuck wants to fight that?
If he had Gigantism, he likely had a heart condition and serious blood pressure issues, messed up joints(especially in his legs), poor vision, and countless other deformities that wouldn't have really been cohesive with life 3000 years ago.
David wasn't fighting an epic battle against the last of the Nephilim, he was executing a handicapped man that couldnt see or stand up straight.
Yeah, it's worth keeping in mind that everyone was much shorter and smaller back in the day, partially due to not always having access to the best nutrition.
What really sold me on the whole thing was seeing a guy shred a cast iron pan with a sling like damn yeah weird it didn’t become more of a prominent weapon on the battlefield
I would think its because of the minimum required proficiency. While using a bow really well takes plenty of skill, its gonna take a lot less to teach someone to send an arrow in a general direction (where many enemies would be) than to teach someone to do the same with a sling and at a speed that will cause damage. Its the same reason the spear is the most common weapon, all you need to know is stick the sharp end into the enemy
The funny part to me is that is it's actually unclear in the Bible who actually killed Goliath. First they say it was David. Then they say it was somebody else named Ellhanan Then they say that Elhanan killed Goliath's brother.
Given that the title of this is effectively "Normal Person Attacks on a Titan," I feel like this is one of those times where "Bat-themed heroes" isn't just crammed in for memes.
Fun fact: the English title is technically a translation error as the original really means The Attacking or Advancing Titan, which is in reference to a very specific character with hidden powers in the show.
this happens a lot in the Sonic series, most of the bosses when taken into account that Sonic is only 4foot 3
but for extreme measures is the large amounts of Gods/Deities that he’s contented with, be it Chaos, Dark Gaia, the previously aforementioned Titans, The End, etc and even a lot of Eggman’s creations seem huge when you take size into consideration (especially Metal Overlord/Madness, The Egg Dragoon, Every Death Egg Robot, i can keep going honestly)
In the 12 labours alone there's the nemean lion, hydra (a crab thing too sometimes), Erymanthean boar (misspelled probably), Cerberus and possibly Diomedes' horses
Fr, I saw a clip of a guy use a slingshot similar to what David wouldve used and good grief, the sound was like that of a gun. And the fact that a rock was used? Yeah, Goliath really got wrecked
They were used by shepards to protect their flocks from wolves and such. They weren't just powerful, these guys were accurate. So David essentially came with a gun and knew how to use it. Its the equivalent to a guy wanting to fist fight you and you shoot them instead.
I know and growing up, I didnt know the full strength of it. My understanding was cartoon sligshots at the time. Imagine my shock when I saw it in action
I always would’ve thought it would be funny if Blackbeard came back to learn Wolf had died. Cause Garp knocked him in the water and he couldn’t swim thanks to being a Devil Fruit eater. Being the world’s largest creature of course also means no one had the requisite strength to pull him out.
Someone who is well trained in using a sling is incredibly dangerous, it is no surprise David won. The only reason they were not a more popular weapon was because they required incredible amounts of training, so usually only those who trained since a young age were any use on a battlefield

In “The Princess Bride”, The Man In Black first defeats a physical giant, and then topples a mental giant (seen here).
Levi vs. the Beast Titan (Attack on Titan)
Levi is basically a normal-sized human fighting a 17-meter giant. He tears through the Beast Titan so quickly that Zeke barely has time to understand what’s happening.
Gotrek Gurnisson (Warhammer Fantasy) once killed a giant on the island of Albion. He then ripped out it's eye and used the optical nerve to get back down
The David and Goliath story isn't that interesting when you understand how slings work. Throwing a rock super fast into someone's skull tends to be fatal.
For a size scale the smaller wolf next to Guinness is the normal size for adults. Toriko who is a giant of a man looks tiny compared to it and even smaller comapred to Guinness.
