Personality The textbook definition of persistent. Almost to an admirable level.

That second to rightmost Robotnik has a Scottish accent, you can’t convince me otherwise.

Team Rocket, Jessie, James and Meowth always fail in the end but keep trying to steal Ash’s Pikachu, until Alola you could consider Ash an example as well
7
u/Springmeister 2h ago
They genuinely could’ve grabbed ANY Pikachu and played it off. I love their collective tunnel vision.
8
u/HowDoesTheKittyCatGo 2h ago
They could have grabbed any Pokemon. It didn't even need to be a Pikachu. They just decided that Ash's Pikachu is the Holy Grail of Pokemon and no other would do. And they don't even want him for themselves. They just want to give him to their boss who I'm sure has way stronger Pokemon and doesn't give a shit about some random kid's Pikachu

I always think to myself: Anime Giovanni is probably the only smart iteration of someone from Team Rocket. And then I realize, he’s sleeping on a huge gold mine with a TALKING MEOWTH.
3
u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 2h ago
Tbf, Meowth was basically his most loyal pokemon until he got the persian
2
u/Springmeister 2h ago
Yeah, but…c’mon, it’s a TALKING POKÉMON. You realize how much he could make off that concept?
3
u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 2h ago
Tbf, this is the same pikachu that fights gods

And is the right hand Pokemon of the world champion and strongest trainer in the world

The best part is that, whenever they’re not trying to steal Pikachu, they’re very good at their jobs. Like, kinda scary good. There’s been multiple instances of them having established and successful cons and schemes that get ruined because Ash shows up, and everything not involving stealing Pokémon that they attempt they end up being really good at. They’ve had multiple successful businesses selling everything from food to collectable merchandise (all of which seem to be above board and legal), have a ton of mechanical and engineering skill, and Jessie is a legitimately very talented performance artist who’s won multiple Contests and Showcases and was a successful reporter, All in all, it really comes down to specifically Ash being the bane of their criminal existence

Ganon, across all of time has tried to gain unlimited power.

He technically doesn’t really have a choice, considering he’s just the result of an even bigger hater’s curse

I always figured Ganon was the reincarnation OF Demise, or at least his hatred.

In a roundabout way, yes! Persistence and determination are practically one and the same.

Sans's dialogue in his fight honestly describes the player in the best way possible:
"I know your type. You're, uh, very determined, aren't you? you'll never give up, even if there's, uh... absolutely NO benefit to persevering whatsoever. If I can make that clear. No matter what, you'll just keep going. Not out of any desire for good or evil... but just because you think you can. And because you "can"... You "have to."

Okay, Frodo fits via the title, but I think you are looking for goofy villains

Zuko. He had no chance of catching Aang and he kept trying. Hell, he kept searching even when it was pretty much accepted that the avatar was never coming back.
4
u/Springmeister 2h ago
Though, to his credit, he eventually found him. Granted it was by joining his side, but still.

Colonel Quaritch in Avatar (2009)
They're escaping? He'll kick the airlock open and empty both magazines before he even thinks about a mask.
Ship's crashing? He'll pat out the fire on his uniform and jump a mech out of the thing in midair.
Dies? He'll come back in two more sequels and keep trying to kill Sully.

Might Guy from Naruto. Can't do ninjutsu or genjutsu so spent his early YOUTH days training like crazy to make himself physically strong and fast enough to be able to challenge child prodigy and Guy's Eternal Rival/BFF Kakashi in assorted contests. By the time of his adult YOUTH, Guy is considered one of the Hidden Leaf's most elite shinobi (even the likes of Itachi Uchiha warns his Aktasuki partners to not underestimate Guy) and he's still training like crazy to maintain himself in competitions with Kakashi. In the climax of the show/the climax of YOUTH, Guy becomes the only (living) member of the Allied Shinobi Forces that can go toe-to-toe with the legendary Madara Uchiha, with Madara being ecstatic that he's fighting such an exciting foe who is using nothing but taijutsu, ultimately leading to Madara declaring Guy the strongest taijutsu fighter of them all

u/Springmeister 2h ago
May I ask why youth is fully capitalized? I’m not a Naruto guy.
2
u/D0CTOR_Wh0m 2h ago
Because "Power of Youth" is one of Guy's catchphrases and says it's one of the driving forces to make one live life to the fullest, have the desire to excel in accomplishing their goals, etc. Thus he'll either shout "POWER OF YOUTH" or "YOUTH"! Doesn't matter how old you get, everyone should still personify YOUTH

Guts from Berserk. Be it revenge, helping a loved one, or simply trying to survive, he’ll put everything he has into it, even when he’s literally down to his teeth. And given that he somehow powered through his mother dying before he did while he was still in the womb (and the latest chapters seem to hint that this is what has given him his seemingly superhuman abilities), he was this from literally before he was born.

Lex Luthor. No matter how many setbacks, humiliations, or PR scandals that should have ruined even a wealthy billionaire he goes through, he’ll always pick himself back up and go back to trying to prove his superiority and kill Superman, even if there’s more constructive things he could be doing for the world with his intelligence.

Fun fact: In "Teen Monica's Gang", there is a story arc in wich he becomes the guardian of a Horseman of the Apocalypse and betrays this entity, becoming the supreme overlord of the entire world and creating a technological dystopia through his schemes.

"But look at my life now. Hatred's become a job. I had true hatred with Venture, I didn't have to fake it! That sweet loathing just poured out of me whenever I saw his pathetic face. I just, I just, I just wanted to kick his ass! I wanted to build a machine to kick his ass! I wanted to build an empire to house the machine to kick his ass!"
