Forever Beta Feedback I enjoyed first week of beta very much, maybe a little too much...
So i've leveled all classes to current level cap on PVE server - I'm a hardcore enjoyer so don't feel a need to participate in PVP. I had lots of fun leveling and can't wait for Blizzard to raise level cap to 30. I've checked all classes and specs out and can provide some feedback if You're still hesitating on what to play.
My personal LEVELING/ENJOYMENT (noPVP) tierlist of classes right now for this level cap:
S+: Hunter (best class hands down due to pet)
S: Warlock (very strong class when You relise spirit is king)
A: Shaman(decent overall unless You play ele) / Paladin (yes, You can almost 1 shot most mobs, but feels clunky when fighting 3-4 mobs)
B: Mage (has potential to be A, because new scrolls look VERY interesting, especially "Cryoblast")
C: Rogue (felt bad early, decent later, nothing exciting or new about this class) / Priest(strong, could be A, but PWS +wand playstyle too boring, so C)
D: Warrior ( needs some help with rage gen, yes You can solo dung as prot, but You need giga gear. no gear=nofun)
E: Druid (currently worst feeling class in the game - sad but true, needs miracle on almost every aspect, resto feels decent)

Nah, this is a level above.
It's one thing to just have one early Tier 3 Naxx kitted character, you can do that on way less hours once you actually reach 60 if you have a solid guild.
It's another to basically be playing WoW more than a full time job. He's playing it like two full time jobs considering beta has only been out for 2 weeks lol

Leveling is pretty damn fast on the beta because of dungeon exp. If you chain dungeons together it will take you from 14-20 with almost no quests in between. Level 14 you can do in 4 hours or so, then you just need to pick up the dungeon quests and finish 3 dungeons.

Havnt played beta, but i guess 4hr is powerleveling and not doing professions. Also finding groups and going to all Dungeons prob takes 4hrs. So 74hrs to level all this. And then he prob not exploring or doing professions. Id say thats a lot of playing.

Assuming he turbo speed ran each toon and hit 20 in 8-10hrs, itās a minimum of 72 hrs played over the week for 9 lvl 20s lol.
Unless 1-20 is just that much faster on Forever
19
u/San4311 5d ago
Pretty sure its technically slightly slower (but only by as much as a rounding error, i.e. caused by them recreating the same level speed by adjusting rewards from incorporating new quests and changing dungeon xp).
So yes, vanilla level speed.*
*there's some ''speedrun'' method of doing all dungeons for the quest xp, even the ones not in your path like Undercity as Alliance, but I don't think many people will end up doing this in reality, especially on the live game without a lv20 cap.

Its not faster at all. I believe they said in the new podcast that 18hrs average time from 1-20 according to data

Same. I just played the class I planned on maining through the Skyborne zone and gave my feedback, and now at 20 Iām just tooling around the barrens admiring the views and sitting by campfires. Havenāt even run any dungeons so those will be new still.
Itās kinda fun when you just exist in the game with no goals or to-do lists, just running around and enjoying it.

5
u/Captains_Parrot 5d ago
I have played the beta but also feel the same as you.
I played a skyborn warrior to 14, which is a class and race I'll never play. Made a tauren, which I always play, to check out plainsrunning. Did a run to Org at level 1 to see the sights and won't touch the beta again.
I'm avoiding anything with big spoilers, not looking at anything data mined. I've still got 16 days off from work to use this year so going to use 5 of them at launch so I can read all the quests, explore all the map and still be at the same level as my friends to do dungeons with.

u/Sparru 5d ago
Why invest the hours in something that'll be deleted?
This might come as a shock but just about everything in life works like this. Why'd I invest hours in watching a movie when it just ends? Why'd I play a round of Overwatch when it just ends? You do it because it's fun, not because you are left with something. Other than memories of course, which is true to beta too.
3
u/Substantial-Oil7569 5d ago
I just wanted to figure out what to main so I wasn't noodling around during launch week. But I do agree with stopping once you hit level cap. I think the people spamming dungeons at 20 and 30 for "BiS" gear are going to kill the fun for themselves a little bit.

Thatās 3.75 days of playtime, conservatively.

3
u/nebulous-nautilus 5d ago
Was troll warlock a pretty good combo? How did the races feel overall?
8
u/flaw_greg 5d ago
I'm looking at everything through the lens of hardcore player and I think troll will be the best choice for Warlock for hardcore playthrough. Not sure about alliance, I don't play it - can't say.
3
u/nziety 5d ago
Spirit regens mana and health so less down time eating and drinking which is the bane of warlock.

Where is priest on tierlist
→ More replies (1)5
u/flaw_greg 5d ago
In terms of raw Powah i'd place them at A, just because wanding is so strong - all You have to do is to apply shield on yourself and wand mob to death. You won't have ANY mana issues, and if shield breaks You can jsut heal yourself. Didn't drink a single time during entire process. Unfortunately wanding is not very enjoyable for me personally so placed them in C for this reason alone,
3
u/DoctorBlock 5d ago

I have been doing the same thing. I much prefer leveling alts than spamming dungeons at level 20 to minmax my character. Hunter has definitely felt the best and druid was godawful to level, which I did before the buff to wrath.
→ More replies (4)7
u/GarbageHiro 5d ago
The problem with leveling atls like that is your missing out on what makes them strong. For example, druids forms now scale damage with their weapon. If you were using your crappy lv 8 weapon at 16, yep its going to feel like ass
7
u/drifter91 5d ago
Even with the gear available, it's not that great. With the mace from IF dungeon quest, it's certainly a lot better, but at that point, you are just doing dungeons all the way up to 20, so it doesn't really matter. When I level on the beta, I try to not buy weapons on the AH to simulate what a launch would be like.
Cat form is just way more damage than bear. Druid 1-20 is truly ass, but 20-60 more than makes up for it.

Everything everyone is doing is solely for the fun of doing it and testing our playable borders... Except bots. They're doing it for the sweet, sweet, rich and lazy people money
2
u/PlayfulSurprise5237 4d ago
Can't be too sweet. Not when it's at the cost of majorly enshitifying a sacred communal space held by a community. Somewhere we all go to hang out and have fun.
They might not think about it now, but likely at some point when their cloak of righteousness wears off and they reflect on their life in the context of the truth, they'll be haunted by it.
2
u/Alternative-Ad-1602 4d ago
It's sweet for them, but never for us. But it's not like Chinese gold sellers care about destroying the western community, since they get to have their own, separate Chinese community servers, completely unaffected by their business models.

u/Rude_Arugula_1872 5d ago
How much time did it take for each character? All roughly the same? Favorite spec/zone (if changed)?
Most changed spec/class?
Finally, someone I can ask these questions and actually did the work, rather than some useless streamer who didn't even log on once but is comparing talent trees from retail/classic with 0 knowledge of the actual subject.
29
u/flaw_greg 5d ago
Roughly 10 hours per character. +/- depending on the class.
Most changed?
Warrior Arms feels much worse / Warrior prot feels bad for me personally with the exception of thunderclap
priest / rogue - unchanged
Hunters felt amazing as Tauren - plainsrunning did the work, didn't get hit a single time until first caster mob at level ~6, so could skip that bad melee 1-10 leveling that hunter always had, after that everything felt even better
Paladin - obviously changed, obviously felt good with the exception of holy - found myself going OOM very fast without decent gear.
Druids - had the biggest hope about this one, low dmg overall. Classic druid leveling 1-20 felt much better, even as feral
Warlock - Felt fantastic after getting imp, big change is that Your pet suddenly can have 1k+ hp due to scalling
Rogue / Priest - felt like nothing changed
Mage - initially bad but started to feeling better after 10- if You don't expect to aoe grind with blizzard like before at 20 and treat is as any other normal class, You'll have good time. I love the idea of having multiple different scrolls that help You, but it's too early to tell.
Shaman - good change with being able to do some AoE dmg. A little bit dissapointed with early ele, but maybe it will get better later.14

5

It will be very legit at 60.
For example:

10% chance for 30% melee speed proc
+20% increased damage without a pet
+30% melee critical damage
+4% crit chance with all melee abilities
+10% agility

Early druid is always rough but by all aspects and margins, in true Classic fashion, druid is shaping up to be the worst class. Just like in Classic, resto still the most viable spec. Feral (cat and bear) and balance absolutely in the mud. I'm convinced no one at Blizzard actually mains feral if this is how they designed it.

They saw the results of their experiment in sod and decided the class was too fun, unrestricted and had insane utility - that's all anti-Classic for druids apparently. So they tuned it all out of the gameplay.
Sarcasm aside, I had high hopes for us, thinking they finally fixed the little things and smoothed it out for the class but I was so horribly mistaken. It's genuinely quite sad.

Yea it's not the most exciting spec at this level range but it IS what the class is supposed to feel like. Once you get a few totems as you get to 30-40 the gameplay become VERY dynamic quickly.
