Forever Beta Feedback Druid cat form quest griefed - No-one has completed in 12+ hrs

Post image

EDIT - we did boys - fix deployed https://www.wowhead.com/forever/news/cat-form-druid-quest-bug-should-be-resolved-383157

The relics for the cat from quest have the same issue as the stopwatch in westfall. If more than 1 person tries to loot it at the same time it gives the "there is no loot" error.

Some greifers have set up bots spamming one of the relics. I've not seen anyone complete the quest in over 12 hours.

We've been unable to get the bots flagged for pvp or create a new layer. Just waiting on blizz to implement a fix now :(

I mean this is actually great. Now it can be fixed whilst in beta.

193

u/Dystopic23 3d ago

Yea, this is the exact kind of bottle neck/pain point that we can get hashed out before launch. Thankfully it's an issue people are making noise about so it's harder to miss

63

u/Gizmodget 3d ago

I was just talking about how much hell the rogue poison quest will be at 20...

Have to pickpocket an npc.

Only one person per 10 minutes can pickpocket him.

If killed he has around an 7-8 minute respawn time.

If the chest at the end bugs out, then your doomed for like a whole day.

I had to wait around 40 minutes to complete it.

Yes, but there's hundreds of quests like this in the game, I'm anxious if they'll actually fix all of those, because I doubt it.

u/MN_Yogi1988 3d ago

I believe the lesson learned is don’t make lootable quest items objects in the world because things like this happen and we learned this lesson more than 20 years ago

4

u/teddmagwell 3d ago

yea, it was kinda shitshow in Moonglade since day one

4

u/blackberrybeanz 3d ago

Really? Man I guess I got lucky there was like 2 others doing it with me and nobody bothered anyone!

7

u/CreamdedCorns 3d ago

That is a sweet thought.

u/IamDirtyHippie 2d ago

I paid $60 for this! I paid for game, I PLAY NOW!

Setting up bots to grief people in beta is so sad, the people doing this stuff must have some major lack of control or power in their real life.

398

u/Beneficial_Bit8296 3d ago

I would love for Blizz to hardware ban these guys.

274

u/chAzR89 3d ago edited 3d ago

This is the only real answer. It's all fun and games if it's a little trolling but griefing an entire class with an automated system with its only goal is to grief should ban you forever. No one needs players like this in any community.

69

u/100plusRG 3d ago

Totally agree! And also, shame on you Blizzard for not fixing this. I’ve experienced private servers with better moderation for this kind of BS.

32

u/M4lt0r 3d ago

Yeah. They would've been banned within less than 5 minutes in TWoW.

MAC-addresses can easily be spoofed however, right? Either that or just purchase a new NIC.

5

u/Velrix 3d ago

They don't MAC ban.... That's really only seen on the LAN. The only MAC they would see is the last hop to their server.

5

u/MKeb 3d ago

That would be true if they didn’t have a software client that pulled in all your hardware info.

5

u/Velrix 3d ago

It doesn't matter.... You can change a mac address locally. That does nothing. You can set your mac address via the driver control options.

4

u/MKeb 3d ago

Software can still query the burned-in address. Spoofing the mac just tells it to send as that mac, it doesn’t change the identity in the firmware

How does a hardware ban works?
Any account that access bnet on that pc gets insta-banned?

14

u/ewriick 3d ago

It is an effort to create a HWID, collect data on your system and create a hopefully unique ID. Anti-cheats do this differently, there is no exact algorithm for it. I think Riot has talked about it publically, but it is often a secret.

Hardware bans often just decline any access to game servers from that HWID. But sure, you could just ban any account using that hardware too.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Beneficial_Bit8296 3d ago

Hardware bans check the IDs of your computer parts (CPU, GPU, mainboard), so even if you move, or reinstall Windows it still recognized you.

15

u/Dietberd 3d ago

Imagine buying a used GPU and getting your account shut down. lol

5

u/Beneficial_Bit8296 3d ago

Someone postet a story similar to this.

He bought a used CPU but was unable to play Valorant.

I think it's a small price to pay to make everything better for everybody else.

9

u/ThomasVetRecruiter 3d ago

I'm sure a decent support system could request additional info to verify it's a new person and revert the ban.

But that would require a decent support system.

4

u/Velrix 3d ago

No way their HWID would match entirely. They would have had to buy the entire PC (HDs, GPU, CPU, MB, Ram).

1

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 2d ago

Shit, you'd think intel and AMD would be paying online game companies out the ass to set up TPM 2.0 and take action against cheaters.

Could destroy the entire used market for CPUs that way.

3

u/Sufficient-Gas-4659 3d ago

if these bots work like fishing bots since they only have have to click and work with the visuals on the screen and not the game itself

not detectable

and hardware banns dont work for the real botters

they can avoid that stuff anyway dont need to buy new hardware there programms what change ur hardware ID`s

1

u/BusinessSuper1156 3d ago

And its really easy to spoof.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Niceromancer 3d ago

you do know bots are ran in VM's right?

the hardware id's are all spoofed.

12

u/EvadableMoxie 3d ago

That's why Blizzard doesn't use HWID bans. Modern anti-cheat can detect it's being run inside a VM, but that only matters if you therefore ban all VMs to avoid HWID evasion. Blizzard does not, so it would be pointless.

As an aside though, most professional gold farmers typically don't use VMs these days, which is one of the reasons why Blizzard doesn't bother banning VMs.

1

u/Agarthan_exile 2d ago

What are they using if not VMs?

2

u/EvadableMoxie 2d ago

Multiple instances of stripped down clients to minimize resource use per client.

Virtualization is actually pretty inefficient for this, as you have to spin up multiple VMs each of which has the client installed on it. Running multiple instances from the same install on an actual computer is much easier. They then try to strip down the client as much as possible, ideally not rendering anything at all and running it all strictly through scripts.

1

u/Agarthan_exile 2d ago

Sure but all on bare metal? Not on VMs?

2

u/Stiryx 3d ago

Ban their credit card and identity from battle.net, no more problems.

2

u/Pogdor 3d ago

John Smith's everywhere in shambles.

1

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 2d ago

Ban their credit card, ban their HWIDs, ban their CPU with TPM 2.0, ban their IP, and sue them in civil court for breaking the TOS.

1

u/BusinessSuper1156 3d ago

Hardware ban is useless in 2026. Need to go scorched earth.

1

u/BlopBleepBloop 3d ago

I prefer they do this stuff in Beta, so Blizzard is forced to address the system. True pain in the ass, but I had a couple hours to spare. It's the same with any bug. You MAKE it a problem until it's addressed or it never gets addressed.

79

u/whimski 3d ago

Actually, I would say its a very good thing. Because some dumbass set up a bot to greif, now it's become a bigger issue and will hopefully get more attention and lead to a fix. Without this happening now it could lead to a much, much worse scenario on actual launch.

5

u/ShineProper9881 3d ago

Yeah, im with you. The bots are doing a good deed here.

it hopefully will work out for people though, imagine this happening on live would really be shit, hopefully blizzard fixes it

38

u/ICEonICECrime 3d ago

I know some people will just go "relax, it’s just a game" over this, but in my eyes, this shows a genuine lack of empathy. Which is a major concern.

7

u/vomicyclin 3d ago

One can only imagine what these sad creatures will do when it comes to release.

6

u/Dixa 3d ago

There are ah bots already too

8

u/No_Cell6708 3d ago

I'm genuinely curious who tf could be so pathetic lol. Insane.

7

u/Burrito_Salesman 3d ago

I teleported to Moonglade last night on the PVE server and there was a horde druid AFK in bear form completely blocking the alliance flight path person which would inevitably cause the alliance players to right click him, attack, and get killed by the guards.

The solution was to /target the flight master and set up an interact key, but it was something that (in my opinion) shouldn't be allowed to happen.

4

u/quagmirranseye 3d ago

I seriously doubt theres bots doing this. I dont know why people assume everything and everyone is a bot,.

7

u/sk8erguysk8er 3d ago edited 3d ago

There has been an alliance druid in bear form PVP flagged jumping on the thunderbluff flight master in Moonglade for days.

If you accidentally right click him and attack you get killed by the guards.

4

u/Reasonable-Nature-77 3d ago

I’m confused, how would attacking alliance in thunder bluff of all places make the guards kill you?

7

u/commander68 3d ago

he's talking about the flight master in moonglade that brings you to tb. there's usually one on the darn flight path too. upvoting for visibility cause blizz needs to deal with that one too.

1

u/blackberrybeanz 3d ago

For anyone having an issue with this, zoom in your view and kinda look up, the bear is shorter and it was easier for me to get the wheel to appear to talk to the guy than from a top town view.

1

u/TunaIRL 2d ago

I mean you could also just bind an interact key and never have to click the flight master again.

1

u/blackberrybeanz 2d ago

I have that on, but it wasn’t working on him? So I figured fps weren’t included for some reason.

6

u/AvailablePop1224 3d ago

On the other hand, doing this in the beta is great feedback in itself and definitely beats doing it live.

2

u/Chudpaladin 3d ago

Better beta than live là so that blizz fixes it

1

u/Dietberd 3d ago

When even the position of discord mod is beyond your capabilties.

1

u/deathgerbil 3d ago

People have been griefing the hell out of moonglade for a while this beta - there were a couple of people who were setting up bears on the flight masters and hitting dance so that no one could click on the flight master without attacking them and getting guard whacked. They got mass reported, but blizzards systems takes a while to ban/suspend them.

Granted, with this one, there was a workaround where you could input /target (name of npc) and setup a key to interact with the target, but it was assanine to have to deal with them.

1

u/ChunkySalsaMedium 3d ago

It's the opposite of sad - it's genius.
Now it will get attention before launch, where it would grief x100 the amount of players.

1

u/Myrdraall 3d ago

There are those people who get off of bothering others. Stealing mobs, preventing quests, corpse camping lowbies. Just general assholes. What a pathetic existence.

1

u/Greizen_bregen 3d ago

The average person in the world is downright awful. The average WoW player is likely worse.

1

u/lunixss 2d ago

Hard disagree, the people doing this run a callcenter in a low income country and they have an abundance of power over their poorly paid workers/lackees scamming people and selling gold.

It's all decisions made by a single man who actually makes money and controls a bunch of grossly underpaid interns creating accounts and bots nonstop.

It's not one dude in a basement thinking he's cool, its a whole scam call center type setup.

1

u/lichlark 2d ago

I feel like this speaks for a fairly large minority of the WoW playerbase. I swear people in General chat are some of the absolutely stupidest mother fuckers ever.

This is a good chance to talk about Blizzard involvement and the possibility of having actual gamemasters that are allowed to show themselves in world. I think with Forever, they should consider doing what they did in Classic and have actual GMs on the game. We need more presence from real people making real decisions in real time. The difference it makes in not only the entire atmosphere of the community but the bot population as well.

Back in the day you could report a bot and a little gnome in a blue robe would show up and handle it immediately. They would thank you and then RP a situation in which they disappear into the twisting nether. Are they worried about paying people to play the game again? Or is it immersion breaking to see a GM flying around doing things? Yes and no, the RP they create makes it feel as if they are of some higher, mysterious power.

We need real people who actually enjoy playing the game and being a GM again. Living on GM island, doing fun little RP events in the world for players. Teleporting around and fixing problems in the moment, on the spot. Taking care of bots camping items exactly like this one, while also creating a short fun event for the 100s upon 100s of players who are being griefed in situations just like this.

24

u/ThomasVetRecruiter 3d ago

I miss games with GM involvement. I used to play one MMO that rregularly had major characters and BBEG's controlled by GM's that would roleplay out story arcs and disrupt the world directly and it led to some amazing stories.

3

u/rhunn98 3d ago

My absolute favorite wow experience was on a small scale RP-Server in my language where GMs made events every month

36

u/getsmurfed 3d ago

Now this is feedback I can get behind.

68

u/ididntsignupbychoice 3d ago

That won't happen unless you're an egirl running high keys

15

u/Zuby_Hype_Train 3d ago

I understood this reference

2

u/itmillerboy 3d ago

I did not :(

10

u/hucklepinch 3d ago

Its insane that this would cost literally $20 an hour and solve so many issues.. But they dont care

7

u/Puerple_haze-PSN 3d ago

I feel like these days GMs showing themselves would add fuel to the fire. I would wager that the griefer communities would pride themselves with triggering a GM to spawn in, claim to fame style.

This is coming from someone who witnessed GMs in all their glory during first years of wow.

23

u/Tricky-Sentence 3d ago

So stay invisible then an still nuke accounts doing this from the shadows.

6

u/Puerple_haze-PSN 3d ago

Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to have the GMs in game, I'm just highlighting that the state of the Internet is not 2003 equivalent.

4

u/psychohistorian8 3d ago

on day 1 we'd have Kick streamers starting a new GM ban speedrun category

3

u/ViolentBeggar92 3d ago

Brother why would you pay someone to do that when you can choose not to. people eat slop any ways and your ceo gets a few million raise instead

1

u/reddithooknitup 3d ago

I remember tickets always taking 12-15hrs. If you had a major issue you weren't getting past it until tomorrow.

1

u/BusinessSuper1156 3d ago

I would totally GM. I have almost 8 hours of work where I don't do shit but wow most days.

1

u/lichlark 2d ago

Sadly from a pay perspective GMs are likely to NEVER happen again. You can barely get higher ups to OK a technical hire these days let alone what is effectively 'fun tech support'. It's genuinely sad.

1

u/Sudnep 2d ago

Would be phenomenal to have in game GMs again.

58

u/onedash 3d ago

So you get randomly layered even while doing mass pvp fights
but there cant be a new layer?

25

u/MrNova07 3d ago

You'd need a metric ton of druid in moonglade to trigger a layering i guess

21

u/Zeneage 3d ago

moonglade has capital city level layering pop cap but quite a low number of ambient players naturally.

We tried getting people to mass visit moonglade but it wasnt enough :(

2

u/BlobbleDerp 3d ago

Which is weird bc I was getting griefed hard on my druid at level doing the bear quest, both getting to the bear and then the FP body blocked on the way out. Moonglade needs more/stronger guards, they weren't even able to deal with lvl 20s.

1

u/Slightly_Shrewd 2d ago

You can get around the body blocking crap easily with the interact setting enabled and setting a hotkey to interact with target.

Just facing the direction of an NPC and hitting your hotkey will interact with them even if you can’t see them. No need to actually target them either. Also useful for talking to quest givers/vendors/etc. through floors and walls.

48

u/fredspipa 3d ago

I'm sure Blizzard can afford a couple of active GMs on release so stuff like this gets nipped in the bud early. I'm sure they have a plan.... right???

29

u/bad_bad_data 3d ago

They are a small indie company. I'm not sure they have the budget.

5

u/dharusio 3d ago

Also they lost their best, first second generation game Master of all times!

3

u/Mouthshitter 3d ago

Ahahaha no

40

u/Doctor_Flux 3d ago

lets hope they fix this so it is impossible to grief this in the full release + ban the bots:
really hard on copium right now on this

20

u/Myke23 3d ago

I thought the bears dancing on FPs in Moonglade was bad enough. Where's the Druid kinship?!

11

u/Wassa76 3d ago

Lmao I experienced that last night, had to bind an interact key to get around it

19

u/Ok-Produce-5235 3d ago

Honestly it’s good this is happening on the beta. Allows blizzard to be aware now versus having this happen when the game is live

5

u/Sebacles 3d ago

doubt they will fix

11

u/Ok-Produce-5235 3d ago

Well…. They’ve fixed other things understanding the WHOLE PURPOSE of a beta is to test and fix things… so idk why you’d doubt them on this

→ More replies (6)

1

u/Ok-Produce-5235 2d ago

Well they did! Might want to have more faith!

19

u/Fraerie 3d ago

Please make sure you report this both in game and on the official forums so it gets to the devs.

This is broken on a number of levels, firstly the behaviour shouldn’t have been allowed to go on for so long. But the shard tech should have detected how many people were waiting in such a small area without the quest being completed and moved people off into smaller layers. You should also be able to report and ignore the players and get moved to a different shard.

14

u/LeastNationalistTaig 3d ago

1 (one) GM could solve this instantly.

Literally one.

7

u/SkillPointProblems 3d ago

Would love to have GMs back, so that they could teleport them to middle of the sea and then hardware ban them.

→ More replies (3)

13

u/SnooDoubts2255 3d ago

Hot take, but I actually appreciate these people setting up bots to grief that way more people complain about the issue

it's already a massive problem that you have to wait like 20 minutes for someone to do a quest sometimes just for someone else to instantly accept it and then you have to wait another 20 minutes will 5,000 other people sit around and try to wait 20 minutes for evert other person

this has always been an issue, but with the mega server it's going to be a million times worse

32

u/Nonsensical20_20 3d ago

This is lame. Maybe unpopular opinion but this is what the largest difference in MMOs from the early 2000s to today. The community is weird but not in a good way.

13

it is genuinely nostalgia blind to think this kind of thing used to not happen

One benefit I saw with choosing pvp server was that the humans on both sides can deal with bots in one way or another

6

u/Wassa76 3d ago

Same was happening with the Defias Messenger spawn the other week. Certain classes can damage him before he's fully phased in and they were doing it repeatedly.

Someone found a hilarious workaround though and I was thoroughly impressed.

6

u/BearSeekSeekLest 3d ago

Someone made a cross-faction character called Defias Messenger and flagged so that those people would automatically attack them and flag themselves?

2

u/librarytimeisover 3d ago

What an original idea lol. Wonder how many hks he has lol.

1

u/AccomplishedMode3788 3d ago

Did it involve pulling an elite mob to them :p?

It’s not far off 🤣.

Probably Olympus players

2

u/Samfordawg 3d ago

Hopefully it gets resolved this week :)

6

u/BoulderCell 3d ago

I mean it's excellent that this has happened in beta and can be reported and fixed?

4

u/PureHarmony 3d ago

One of Nohitjerome’s guild members was literally sitting there killing The Rake for 10+ hours straight, preventing everyone else from being able to do it. There was no layer for us to swap to, so we were basically stuck.
I tried talking to the guild member and getting it resolved normally, but it went nowhere. I eventually brought it up to Nohitjerome in his stream, explained what was happening and how long it had been going on, and his response basically amounted to “pound sand.”
I didn’t even know who Nohitjerome was or that this was a streamer guild before all of this. I just wanted to do the content. Having someone intentionally camp an NPC for 10+ hours to prevent other people from progressing, then getting completely brushed off when you bring it to the guild leader, is pretty ridiculous.
Smokie Hunts…. You are a cancer on PVP horde.

5

u/Simplyfuz 3d ago

Making things like this personal spawns would have gone a long way to improving life. But no, bigger servers to increase the bottleneck, allow the griefers to grief is much better, fixed now guys. enjoy

5

u/Outofmana1337 3d ago

Now that's an action that should be an insta ban from beta

5

u/NovacainXIII 2d ago

All these options being recommended but there is truly only one: Ban their entire Blizzard account permanently. All games, not just WoW.

5

u/DucksMatter 3d ago

Hopefully you made a bug report along with a Reddit post

1

u/Calm-Two2723 3d ago

Haha there’s like 250 Druid’s there making reports. I assure you. Lol they’re also spamming reports for griefing etc

2

u/Razzul 3d ago

The same thing is happening at the Arathi border with the end of the Sleeping Bag chain.

2

u/SeanTNL2 3d ago

https://reddit.com/link/pckexr7/video/0hqidj6zc9sh1/player

It was fun though in line to be fair, helped that horde sky elves and alliance night elves and sky elves all speak the same language. (excuse the blizzcon audio in the background)

2

u/Tyrilean 3d ago

Reminds me of vanilla when the horde would grief the paladin’s Verigan’s Fist quest. There was a huge perception that paladins were OP because that’s two handed hammer was pretty powerful for level 20 (and almost no one had reached level 60 at that point).

So, the Horde would go to Westfall and kill the NPC you’re supposed to escort for the quest. Because of a bug, she wouldn’t respawn until the nightly server reset.

We had a 24 hour vigil of paladins protecting her until it was fixed.

2

u/TehZiiM 3d ago

Imagine someone did that on launch

2

u/Llyon_ 3d ago

This quest was a huge pain when I did it. Reported as bug. There were people phasing in and out constantly at the idols.

1

u/Calm-Two2723 2d ago

Shoot I wish I could phase lol

2

u/Tossup1010 3d ago

The amount of people here talking about this that don’t understand what’s happening is crazy. It’s not just PvP. In fact it’s better in PvP cuz you could actually put together a squad to kill the bots and griefers. PvE is literally impossible because you have 40 people spamming the same objective and no one gets it. You can’t even bait them to attack a flagged player.

Blizz is literally ignoring an entire spec by doing nothing about this. I’d bet they have 10k plus reports and have said and done nothing yet.

4

u/Spriggz_z7z 3d ago

Perma these trash players. No need for a warning temp ban. Make them miserable.

3

u/cuberhino 3d ago

5head Druid main strategy.

Create bots during beta to intentionally make pain points a big issue and obvious to many people so people complain.

More complaints, more online tractions, dev may see the issue and fix it.

Good guy bot griefers

4

u/Unique-Permit-6043 3d ago

People are griefing mining nodes too doing the same thing (refusing to accept the loot preventing you from being able to mine the node)

5

u/Aphellium 2d ago

Brother that's on purpose so you don't steal the node that someone got first to.

That's not riefing, that's refusing to let YOU grief them.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Budget-Ocelots 3d ago

Get a Paladin to bop the bot. Iirc it prevents you from interacting with objects due to invulnerability cheesing.

32

u/NicoNB 3d ago

u have to be in a group to bop someone.

4

u/erqod 3d ago

How long do you think bop lasts?

1

u/jackfwaust 2d ago

so it fixes it for 5 seconds and then you have to deal with this for 5 more minutes while bop is on cd, and you have to have someone permanently there bopping them because this is a bot and will never leave, and every single person there is also going to be trying to click it while hes bopped, leading to the exact same issue

0

u/Bohya 3d ago

God, seeing those new skyborn druid bear models right next to the night elf druid bear model. I understand everyone's complaints better now.

4

u/WelsyCZ 3d ago

The old druid models are not staying. They will be changed for newer - wotlk ones.

5

u/tinfoil_panties 3d ago

You can already choose between the wotlk models (barbershop) and the oldschool model (default). I certainly hope they don't change that because I love the old crusty bear.

The complaints should be to have HD versions of the old bears + Cats. I'm sorry but NOBODY in the history of WoW in 2004 till the updated models actually liked how old Bear form looked. It is some weird ass classic andy take to keep it. It looked like shit then and it looks like shit now. If people want a toggle to look at that dumbass thing so be it give it to them but make it HD for every sane person.

Wasn’t moonglade contested/pvp zone in vanilla?

How about the bear that sits at the flight master so you have to set up a interact keybind and friendly targeting to fly out?

This is a problem with any quest that involves looting things from the ground right now. It’s a major issue in Zephras Isle, as I’ve seen people be completely unable to loot items for a main quest, thereby preventing all future main quests. If this happens on launch it would be very bad.

The pocket watch has a respawn timer which is why the dresser says there’s no loot sometimes. Gunna guess this is the same and having 40000000 people all trying to get it is really not feasible Lul

Where is blizzard at? What are they doing about this?

1

u/Sandman145 3d ago

Yep druid quests have been trolled for the entire duration of this beta. A few days back they where stscked on the flight masters in moonglade so lots of ppl where getting pvp tagged and killed by guards.

No lifers camping the lake and not letting ppl complete the trial for the seal form.

People suck.

Why is the account with the bot doing it not banned from all blizzard games? I don't get why it's so hard to punish people properly.

They added a cat form quest? neat.

A hardware ban will solve this but they won't do it, hell even Fortnite has multiple times reversed perm bans once they saw their numbers dwindling. At the end of the day these companies exist to make profit and if enough people don't play to keep that profit, they're inclined to stop being so heavy handed with bans or reverse bans on the players its clear want to play and give them profit etc. I don't see this ever getting better, profit drives decision making, not yours or my gameplay experiences.

Great opportunity for blizzard to test their ability in enforcing their own tos.
