Stop using Ai, fuckers.

u/a_angry_bunny 1d ago
Hmm, idk. Using AI to mock people who openly admit they don't care if AI destroys our lives seems like a good use of AI.

That is not how logic works.

Logic left the country a long time ago, only absurdity remains. Logic doesn't work with the unreasonable.

Vance's boss has spoken already - it's not AI, it's now to be known as SI.

Why? I don't like AI when it is stealing art from artists and I do not like that it lacks regulation, but other than that I have no qualms with people using it to meme.

Have you not heard of data centers? They are the heart of ai.

Yeah, that's why I am anti-capitalist. The issue is not the technology, but how wealthy entrepreneurs are chasing it without thinking of the consequences for the general public. Rather than leaving it up to these vultures, we should instead be striving towards a society that uses AI in a responsible manner and uses it to benefit broader society.
I don't think that acting like modern-day luddites is helping though. This technology genuinely has the capacity to propell human society forwards into a positive direction. We should fight to make that happen. That's why I vote for the workers party in my country and try to organize for them.

As long as it uses the water that it does, you are an asshole to think its OK.

u/Rare-Storm4920 16h ago
That argument is only valid if you’re doing other things to save water so I’m assuming you are a vegetarian at least

I love how it becomes MY responsibility to conserve water when the companies don't give a fuck and are draining the aquifers dry. Give your head a shake.

Just stating a fact meat is optional
And uses far more water than ai ever could1

Whether you like it or not, AI is a game-changer for science and probably also human society. Trump may be an idiot and a sex pest, but he wasn't wrong when he likened it to the industrial revolution. It's very likely going to have that kind of impact, but in order for it to have a positive impact we need to regulate it and handle it properly.
Just completely throwing out the baby with the bathwater is the absolute dumbest approach to this kind of scientific progress. You are simply lending rich entrepreneurs even more leverage because rather than work with those who want to regulate it and streamline it so that it does not pollute as much as it does, you are stuck yelling at clouds from your couch trying to stop the inevitable. It reminds me of when I studied history and I read historical documents of people yelling at the first trains because the bellowed black smoke.
This is an entirely unconstructive and frankly backwards approach and it points to a foundational lack of historical understanding of how scientific evolution manifests. What is constructive, is to work towards regulating it and making it more friendly for the environment. That's why I vote and work with parties that have these goals, but I guess that I'm the asshole and you are the real hero of the story as you yell from your couch at scientific progress.

"They bellowed black smoke." Then the scientists warned about global warming and the train (robber barrons) companies said "don't worry, just a little smoke". When I was 6, we had 12' of snow in the winter. Now we are lucky if we get 2.' Until this technology doesn't need water to cool, it is detrimental to all life. Did you hear the one about how ai wants to kill us all and there are absolutely no regulations to stop it (if they could).

Rather than just stop scientific progress, we figured out how to make them less polluting rather quickly. That's the point. You can not stop scientific progress by fully demonizing it and it is backwards to even try it, but you can guide it.
Same with AI, we should focus on regulating it and doing it in such a way that it is way more sustainable. Again, one way to do that is to vote and work for parties that want to do that. It's going to be a long and arduous battle against big capital interests, but it's way more productive than whatever you are doing.

You know the thing where a joke is funny for a while, then it's not, then it gets funny again? I feel like we've been stuck in the middle part for at least a year.
