“Confrontation between pilots” is a hell of a euphemism for “terrorist pilot tries to hijack plane and crash it”

"Confrontation between pilots" is a hell of a euphemism for "terrorist REPEATEDLY STABS PILOT to hijack plane and crash it" <- fixed

Weird how most media headlines are non confrontational like this and not telling the truth like you are. Attempted terrorist attack thwarted.

43

u/Pumpkinkra 21h ago

Can’t insult terrorists by calling them terrorists. Just one guy who wants to kill the other pilot and everyone on board and whoever they hit on the ground and another who would rather not. Tomato tomato.

3

u/Bardfinn 20h ago

It's worded that way by news outlets (and the title here was undoubtedly ripped from a news article headline) because "Terrorist" in the US means "has been convicted of the crime of terrorism or was designated a terrorist by the US State Department", and accusing someone of a crime that they were not convicted of is a tort and a crime itself.

People don't generally like going to jail and being bankrupted, so they word news headlines neutrally

16

u/BlightedBooty 19h ago

All of that being said, zero reason to go with “confrontation”

This ain’t just “avoiding using the word territorist” this is straight up editing what happened with a title

-1

u/Onironius 19h ago

One of the pilots attempted to hijack the plane. There was a confrontation (which included a stabbing).

Why would there be no reason to use the word "confrontation?"

5

u/ham_plane 18h ago

They should have just said the "was a disagreement" then. A disagreement about whether the play should stay in the air or not

u/CUTTYONE70 19h ago

•

u/Known-Dig983 2h ago

So fucking sickening.

7

u/Brad23212 20h ago

Yeah….the airline industry doesn’t like headlines like : terrorist was able to get control of an airplane.

3

u/ElBurritoLuchador 17h ago

They also probably don't want to inform that the terrorist was their own pilot.

0

u/agk23 20h ago

It’s how all reputable headlines used to be. I remember getting taught how to write headlines in school. Now, the expectation is to know exactly what happened, immediately. Not saying this is a great example, because I believe it’s been confirmed, but more refuting your general observation

6

u/BlightedBooty 19h ago

Your point isn’t really appropriate for this scenario though, because calling a stabbing a “confrontation” is a massive downgrade that changes the entire meaning and context of the whole situation

You don’t have to say “terrorist attack” but “confrontation” is a satirical level of downplay

→ More replies (1)

-1

u/batkave 15h ago

Because we don't actually know if it was terrorism. It could be because a love triangle at this point.

It's as likely to be a false flag at this point.

→ More replies (3)

6

u/Gazas_trip 17h ago

It was a mostly peaceful flight.

3

u/mnstorm 19h ago

Terrorism is not 100%, though likely given this particular context. Plenty of examples in the world where pilots just suicide because they’re suicidal pricks. Terrorism had political/ideological grounds that are unknown at this point (though likely).

100% attempted hijacking and suicide attempt though.

11

u/Hour_Baby_3428 18h ago

A confrontation would be one pilot finding out the other slept with his wife, not whatever the fuck this was

2

u/mnstorm 17h ago

Everything is a confrontation, but definitely a weak adjective for this case! On the other hand, straight up calling it terrorism without any evidence other than it being an Arab airline would be irresponsible journalism.

1

u/AoE3_Nightcell 16h ago

Purely semantic tangent, is it a hijacking if it’s one of the pilots?

0

u/PhilosophyThug 16h ago

Acknowledging and condemning religious terrorism especially Islamic terrorism makes you racist nowadays.

0

u/batkave 15h ago

We currently only know that there was an attack of the pilot by the co pilot. The only place currently saying terrorism is the country known for lying, propaganda, and committing tons of terrorism (Isreal)

Confrontation between pilots? He stabbed him and tried to hijack the flight. That's a little more than just "a confrontation between pilots"

134

u/Duff-Gordon 20h ago

"Confrontation between pilots"

105

u/Odd-Local9893 20h ago

Western media outlets trying to downplay terrorism.

3

u/Eikram84 14h ago

So the Reddit user "HomeNowWTF" now represent ALL Western media?

•

u/Interesting-Lion1443 4h ago

Might as well since they already write headlines like these

•

u/Known-Dig983 2h ago

•

u/Eikram84 1h ago edited 1h ago

Deliberately removing the dates from all these headlines so that people wouldn’t realise they were written immediately after the first information that there’s something wrong, were published? In other words, when hardly anything else was known yet.

It would take a matter of seconds to find more recent news to this topic on these websites, all of which also refer to an "attempted terrorist attack".

-2

u/Hour_Baby_3428 18h ago

Wait until you find out the pilot was a journalist too. And a kid. And actively starving

-9

u/LoathsomeCheeseEater 18h ago

You zionists really can't help yourselves. You really have to try to exploit every situation to try to downplay Israel's genocide even when the situation has nothing to do with it.

-11

u/Hour_Baby_3428 18h ago

I have no skin in the game, I just find hilarious what I see on the daily news. And the brain dead masses that fall for it every time

17

u/Duff-Gordon 20h ago

Bruh, what do you think it is  when a guy tries to bring down a whole plane.

6

Been cases of pilot suicide 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 18h ago

Was this confirmed to be one?

No. But I don’t believe it had been confirmed terrorism at the time someone asked above.

•

u/Interesting-Lion1443 4h ago

Pilot suicide don't typically involve brutally stabbing your co-pilot

1

u/mxforest 13h ago

Let me add some context. Pilot was from Oman and flights to Israel STRICTLY prohibit Omani citizens from flying planes to Israel but he somehow got in.

3

u/manny_the_mage 20h ago

i mean I would prefer to look at facts than to fill in the blank with my own assumptions

•

u/Interesting-Lion1443 4h ago

Must be hard not having any inkling for common sense

1

u/Duff-Gordon 18h ago

Ok, the facts so far are copilott or pilot stabs his buddy, messes with controls, plane plunges 18k ft before people interfere and save the plane.

3

u/manny_the_mage 18h ago

alright

was he a part of a terrorist organization or something?

-2

u/NorseKnight 15h ago

You don’t have to be a part of an organization to be a terrorist. The act of hijacking a plane and trying to crash it, is terrorism in itself pal

2

u/pawnografik 14h ago

No it isn’t. Terrorism is trying to effect political change through violent acts that deliberately target civilians. One copilot going crazy (if that’s what happened) and stabbing the pilot would not constitute terrorism.

•

u/Interesting-Lion1443 4h ago

Keep defending terrorism by acting oblivious and arguing semantics, you're definitely making the world a better place.

1

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 18h ago

Was it confirmed as just confrontation rather than western news front printing it out?

2

u/hskskgfk 17h ago

Was it confirmed as a “confrontation between pilots”?

11

Cutlery stored in fellow-pilot’s tummy.

4

u/Percolator2020 17h ago

And I agree with the pilot there, that’s not proper storage and a severe food safety violation, remind me to never take that airline.

23

u/theseriousman1 21h ago

Why are u calling it a confrontation one pilot tried to crash the plane and kill the other

12

u/rainydays2020 18h ago

Confrontation between pilots? You mean a hijacking?

53

u/iamThebitbyte 21h ago

Mild way of putting a terrorist sucide mission as confrontation but what can you expect from reddit and it's bot

9

u/Evening-Emphasis6246 21h ago

“Confrontation” due to Omani co pilot literally stabbing the other pilot

9

u/Yanks4lyf 20h ago

It wasn’t a confrontation it was a stabbing

6

u/TexFarmer 17h ago

Not a conflict, it was an attempted mass murder and suicide by another Muslim terrorist.

Blaming Israel when Islamic extremists love to do shit like this (and brag about it after) is crazy work

10

u/Jethuth_Chritht 20h ago

Jews being used as scapegoats, historical example #7,326,903,459

5

u/BlightedBooty 19h ago

Ahhh but they didn’t say Jews, they said Israel didn’t they?

I ask this question with genuine curiosity, but will the Jewish people ever be independent from the actions of the individuals who run the state of Israel? Or are they just doomed to be perpetually bound in a suicide pact together forever

EDIT: Actually YOU said Israel lmao

6

u/SunsetCoconut 20h ago

a shit ass government =/= a whole religious group. Not once has anyone ever said that.

-2

u/Jethuth_Chritht 20h ago

Pretty convenient though that people are so quick to blame them for anything that ever goes wrong. Almost like they’re being used as a scapegoat or something.

3

u/bessemer0 20h ago

Fools thinking Israel being called out for their bullshit is the equivalent to Jews being used as scapegoats, example #12,245,653,578.

It isn’t antisemitic to be sick of Israel’s bullshit.

12

u/Jethuth_Chritht 20h ago

Getting called out for their bullshit is one thing.

Immediately placing blame on them for attempted terrorism without any semblance of proof is another….one might even call it…scapegoating

2

u/Dr_Gamephone_MD 18h ago

He said Israel not Jews

-5

u/mxjxs91 20h ago

Hating Zionists and the genocide they're committing isn't antisemetic.

Example: You can hate extremist Islamic terrorist groups and not your Muslim neighbors.

Obviously that's something that Zionists haven't figured out or care to figure out yet.

5

u/Jethuth_Chritht 19h ago

Oh right, right, right. There’s definitely no connection between baselessly blaming Israel for anything that ever goes wrong and baselessly blaming Jews for anything that ever goes wrong. Thanks for correcting me on that.

2

u/BlightedBooty 19h ago

You seem to want to avoid engaging with what the person is saying

We can all fight for the freedom and safety of Jewish people without sanewashing and condoling gruesome crimes. We can do this together

Shitbags who actually have negative things to say about Jewish people are asshats

Please don’t lump Jewish people in with genocide

1

u/mxjxs91 19h ago

He's going to continue to argue in bad faith, ignoring anything that's actually being said and putting words in anyone's mouth that isn't Pro-Israel in this genocide. At no point did I mention "blaming Jews" for anything.

In fact it pretty clearly implies that it's wrong to lump Jewish people with the atrocities that Zionist Israelis are committing and supporting (the example of being against Islamic terrorist groups while still being able to love your Muslim neighbors). He's putting words in my mouths.

No point in attempting to make a reasonable argument, complete waste of time.

1

u/ATTICUSone 19h ago

I hope you're condemning the genocide of innocent Palestinians committed by the Israeli government with the same vigor as you are criticizing blatant Holocaust denial. Anything else would simply be hypocritical.

-1

u/Anderrn 14h ago

I mean… you are aware that Israel has done well documented false flag operations to garner international sympathy and increased funding, right?

In other words, regardless of whether that’s true this time, there is a precedent for Israel to not be immediately believed.

7

u/LANTIRN_ 21h ago

There is another video where you can audible hear the wind increasing to pretty insane levels as the planes plummets from about 30 000 feet to 15 thousand feet. It was violent enough to tear out chunks of the rudder and vertical stabilizer.

1

u/Wooden-Wolverine-818 21h ago

You’re right. Next time we’ll have a pov from the pilot where he was stabbed, and then he’ll stumble out into the aisle for everyone to see. They’ll all panic and just as it’s setting in for everyone, all their stuff flies up to the ceiling as they start to plummet to their presumed death. The screams will make anyone remove headphones and turn the volume down.

Sometimes things happen in this world that don’t need to have a visual companion to be able to understand what is happening. Have some empathy for those onboard and be thankful it wasn’t you, and you need to rely on a video to get any visual of what is happening.

This is Reddit.  You can't acknowledge Islamic terrorism on Reddit... It does not exist, if it does exist then it's a false flag by the United States or Israel and then if it's undeniable that Islamic terrorests are behind it, its justified because they have no choice due to Western interference in their affairs.

At that level is misdirection, why even bother reporting at all? If a serious news outlet starts saying the earth is flat, how long do we keep listening?

Reckless endangerment? God damn, I hate that I share this earth with people this stupid.

11

u/ACorDC 21h ago

4

u/camomike 21h ago

Considering there's no context apart from the title and a video in the cabin. You don't know if it's one pilot intentionally trying to down the plane, or if the two pilots leaned on the yolk or throttle. But go off I guess.

u/Skilldibop 21h ago

FYI if an aircraft "Plummets" 17,000 ft no one is staying on their feet while that's happening.

18

u/Eagles365or366 21h ago

It happened over two minutes. This is simply not true. Once the nose is pointed down, as long as it is a consistent decent over two minutes, you’ll be firmly planted on the ground. They weren’t pulling a parabolic maneuver.

2

u/Skilldibop 20h ago

if the attitude is sufficiently nose down to achieve nearly 9000ft/min descent rate you will fall over and experience G-forces because the aircraft is accelerating. It'd be like trying to stand ontop of a car while the driver puts their foot down.

G-force is an effect of acceleration on a body not the change in pitch attitude.

I'm also sceptical it happened quite that fast as 8500ft/min at cruise speed sustained for 2 full minutes would risk critically overspeeding the airframe. The video doesn't show any evidence of that, you'd hear increased wind noise and buffeting.

I suspect this is just overdramatic reporting of an expedited decent related to the diversion.

1

u/ratbastid 20h ago

G-force is an effect of acceleration on a body not the change in pitch attitude.

Although the pitch change will be rough too. The run to the cockpit will be notably downhill.

7

u/surfryhder 21h ago

It looks like they “plummeted 17k ft over two minutes”

0

u/moonias 20h ago

3

u/BadSilent5769 20h ago

BS title. This was a terrorist suicide attempt. Stopped by brave Israeli passengers.

“Confrontation between pilots” my foot.

Israelis did good? Muslim did bad? Terror against jews? Not Palestinians involved?

Its a hard pill to swallow for the average redditor.

2

u/NewPractice8919 16h ago

By that same logic it's a hard pill to swallow that German Nazis weren't all bad, since some did good things. Bad people can do good things and good people can do bsd things. Looking at it through a microcosm lense solves nothing.

Those people, regardless of race or nationality, helped saving people and that's good.

1

u/SimilarTop352 16h ago edited 16h ago

eh I still think the organized military bombing hospitals/schools and destroying crops to also starve those people is worse. tough pill to swallow for the average idiot. the nationality of the passengers doesn't really factor into it I feel

1

u/hemorrhoidhematoma 19h ago

Sounds like quite the little disagreement they've got going on up there

1

u/KleosIII 19h ago

Legit question...what was the target? Or was the goal just "plummet it into the ocean?"

3

u/hskskgfk 16h ago

My theory is, the target would be some populated area in Israel. The Saudi airport, where they did the emergency landing is in Northwestern Saudi Arabia, very close to the Jordanian border, and not that far away from Israel as well. Technically the target could also be some Jordanian urban area, but it seems unlikely unless that Oman copilot has some particular beef with Jordan.

If Marky Mark was on that flight this would have never happened.

I've never been in a situation like this.

That being said, I don't think I would be recording. Go see what's wrong since it looks like no one else really is.

what are you talking about you clearly see people going to the front of the plane.
what you expect small kids and old ladys to storm the cabin! if you might die filming wont lower your chances of survival in a plane crash lmao
