Contracted Amazon tribes

Slaves with a contract? Not during my watch!
-Amazon's upper-mid management, probably.

Mad respect but between this picture and reading the "Lost City of Z" I am good.
•
u/PineappleHamburders 7h ago
Is it good? I loved his book The Wager and have had Lost City of Z on my shelf for ages
•
u/84thPrblm 7h ago
What is this? An uncontacted tribes of ants?!
•
•
u/shoulda-known-better 4h ago
How can we be expected to teach them how to read when we can't even fit inside the building
•
•
u/Hopeful_Community_65 7h ago
Leave those MFers alone…
•
u/thekamenman 4h ago
Yeah, they don’t have to worry about KPIs, TPS reports, AI integration, or taxes. Best let them not experience the horrors of the modern world.
•
u/wjmmerea 7h ago
Jacking off seems like a stealth mission
•

•
u/airwalker08 2h ago
That's the kind of wall I'd build around my village if I wanted outsiders to leave me the fuck alone
•
u/Capone_Cologne 7h ago
Weak ass base building skills right there.
•
•
u/Careful_Coconut_549 7h ago
Yeah I mean what is this even for? To give attackers instant high ground?
•
•
•
u/Accomplished_Skin946 7h ago
True fact - They have been contacted before. They’re known as the Bezos tribe, and have a limited vocabulary that has no native word for “gullible”
•
u/pinniped90 7h ago
A few kilometers away is a separate tribe, the Prime tribe. They get all their building materials with free 2-day shipping.

Green Hell
•
u/MagmaTroop 7h ago
I was going to say it. Quality game
•
u/BrunesOvrBrauns 6h ago
I bought it on the OG switch for like a dollar and never played it. lol I assume it ran like shit on there.
•
•
•
u/squeezy102 4h ago
Green Hell taught me that interacting with these people is a very very good idea and someone should do it. Nothing bad will happen.
•
u/discomuffin 2h ago
I heard there’s this really friendly island in the vicinity of India. Senti… sentiment island? Worth a visit, just don’t forget to bring cola 👍
•
u/Stormtomcat 1h ago
Oops the reddit sniper got you when you wrote the title: you must have meant Green Hello 🤗!

I know this is not AI because I saw this photo long before ChatGPT, but the scale of the people compared to the trees and the fort (?) is eerie. If I saw this pic for the first time today I would 100% think it's AI
•
•
u/Stormtomcat 1h ago
What I find eerie as well, is the way the fort's tiles are organized.
Perhaps I'm subconsciously biased by, you know, the European building style, where houses and castles and everything have a clear front, like a draw bridge or a gate or a garden path leading to the front door (if you're living in a hobbit hole haha).
Perhaps I've seen too many horror movies and now I'm needlessly scared.
I still find it stressful that they felt the need to circle the wagons (so to speak) so explicitly.
•
u/Chamanomano 1h ago
Yanomami tribe. "Uncontacted" is humorous to say the least - a lot is known about them. They're far from uncontacted.
•
u/Multigrain_Migraine 1h ago
For real. I think the first book about them was published in 1967? They aren't unfamiliar with the outside world or political campaigning either.
•
u/FinallyArt 7h ago
I wonder how thoroughly the ethics have been debated about allowing these guys to die from things we cured long ago.
•
u/Independent-Most-538 7h ago
Very profoundly!
Especially in the context of the photo: Moxihatëtëa Indigenous Tribe, taken in 2016, in Brazil. The Brazilian Constitution guarantees indigenous peoples the right to their "social organization, customs, languages, beliefs, and the original right to the lands they traditionally occupy."
PS: They remain uncontacted to this day.
•
u/pkennedy 6h ago
This is a very interesting view of these tribes, from a Brazilian studying them. Not sure if this was the original video, but the one I found with him in it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40RfQC0ceGc
Highlights: They come out of the jungle and steal from this other tribe where this guy is working. The issue is, they're stealing clothing. The clothing has possible viruses these guys don't have, so now they have to get them vaccinated somehow.
They also don't speak the language, and try and communicate with them originally. They keep trying. Eventually they find a tribe that has enough words in common so they can talk, and also get what was said during their original meetings translated. "these guys dance like shit"
•
u/Pinkishu 2h ago
In case some alien civilisation observing us is reading this. I'm not interested in the ethics of contacting us, should I be dying of something, come rescue me.
•
u/risk_is_our_business 6h ago
It seems as though there should be some kind of overriding set of guidelines for such situations... some kind of prime directive.
•
•
u/Dark-Ganon 4h ago
Probably similarly to the debate on the ethics of making treatments to things we've cured long ago more expensive than the average person could ever afford.
•
u/NaturalTap9567 2h ago
We kill people in Africa to get cheaper phones. No one actually cares they just like virtue signaling. Same blm and anti Israel people all have smart phones and tons of other products made from slave labor which kills 10s of thousands per a year. 99.9% of people put personal comfort over others suffering.
•
u/Dark-Ganon 1h ago
You almost had a point before you made the whole thing into such a huge overgeneralization.
•
u/2930apple 2h ago edited 1h ago
Damn you had me in the first part. Phones are a necessity in the modern age for many people and some of the worst companies own so much shit it is nearly impossible to avoid them all. The problem is the people who are wasteful and buy new phones and clothes every 2 minutes and are not conservative with their food. This is hardly the strawman you think it is.
Show me the statistics that prove that anti-Israeli individuals who support the BLM movement are so wasteful and careless that their consumption alone outweighs the corporations funding and perpetuating genocidal and inethical practices.
•
u/TheNewtOne 6h ago
We have cures for a lot of things that we let people die from right here in the good ole usa
•
u/jovisomniaplena 6h ago
The other way to look at it is how they catch new diseases through contact.
•
u/kingoflint282 4h ago
You also have to weigh that against the probability of then catching new diseases from us
•
•
•
u/aimgorge 7h ago
That picture is over 10 years old. I doubt they still are that uncontacted nowadays
•
u/Flonkerton_Scranton 7h ago
i bet one of them has an iphone now
•
•
•
u/An_Ugly_Bastard 3h ago
If they were contacted by people, they probably all died of disease. They don’t have the antibodies the modern population does.
•

u/PaleBlueCod 7h ago
Tiny people with huge biscuit walls.
•
•
u/deFleury 3h ago
We used to have breakfast cereal that looked like that. One piece was a decent breakfast for a kid, a hungry adult might take two pieces.
•
•
•
u/Jaded_pipedreams 4h ago
I hope they are left alone. We have examples of what the colonisers did to all the other groups.
•
•
u/venusdemaui 2h ago
And if the person used a drone to find them, and this is not some satellite image, they are truly a soulless asshole
•
u/HumbleAnxiety7998 1h ago
not gonna knock their tech level, but.... they should be able to have learned how to close those gaps in the Panels.... seems like a easy fix to weave so its a solid perimeter.
•
•
•
u/urbanhood 4h ago
I would like the explanation of why they have this big thatch roofs/walls angled like that?is that their shelter? their house?
•
u/Lagoon_M8 6h ago
Can they evolve into different human species if they are isolated from us for hundreds of thousand of years?
•
u/Grobo_ 5h ago
This happens even without isolation, the people from the Himalayas have unique genetic traits that let them breathe at heights without extra oxygen.
•
u/bottomlesstopper 5h ago
And the free divers island people with bigger lungs and +1 in holding breath underwater.
•
u/ChefArtorias 3h ago
That's not the same as being a different species.
•
•
u/HumbleAnxiety7998 1h ago
its a start, its called differentiation, like the coloring of a birds feathers can change even when they can still mate, eventually though they evolve enough to where their genes are no longer compatible, and thats where they become a different species all together.
•
u/littleproducer 3h ago
It is an answer to the question though. Yes, over time even humans will evolve if isolated from the rest of the gene pool.
•
u/ChefArtorias 3h ago
I mean, of course they will. To think humans wouldn't evolve any further would be asinine.
Their specific question however, if thousands of years is enough time to produce a different species, is not answered by citing a random adaptation by people who live in the mountains.
•
u/littleproducer 2h ago
Many adaptations over time is what produces a different species, yes. You know this, I know this, but evidently the person who asked didn’t. They asked specifically “Can they evolve”
•
•
u/AlternativeBurner 6h ago
I've always wondered this. These guys are definitely not isolated long enough for this to happen, but it's believed the North Sentinel Islanders have been isolated for possibly upwards of 60,000 years. Might not be long enough for a whole new species but they might be different enough to be subspecies.
•
u/NeededMonster 6h ago
Except all of these tribes are in contact with other tribes. They're not totally isolated. They are often somewhat aware of the existence of the outside world because they were told about it by neighboring contacted tribes. It's common to find modern items these tribes own when finally contacting them, that they traded with others.
•
u/Ohgood9002 5h ago
The north Sentinel tribe is isolated to an island. They see planes fly overhead, they find trash on their shores, but they are isolated and not contacting other tribes
•
u/NeededMonster 5h ago
Indeed I just checked you're right. I was sure I'd read somewhere that the tribe there had contacts with other tribes around them. My bad.
•
u/Electrical_mammoth2 1h ago
Nope, and their isolationist ideology will hurt them in the long run. Their gene pool is very limited as is and without fresh genetics the subsequent generations will have higher and higher chances of disastrous genetic defects.

I thought someone took a screenshot of my first starter base in valheim. But turns out this was in amazon.

You know they have no contact with other tribes... they have no real walls at all...

Aaaaaand a photo of the tribe freaking out ‘cos they didn’t understand the noisy, not-bird thing above them
•
u/Multigrain_Migraine 1h ago
Given that people in the Amazon have been studied by anthropologists for decades they are probably more annoyed at yet another intrusion.
•
•
u/4rt4tt4ck 1h ago
How did they get tax payer funding for the football stadium. Everyone knows they can't get built without taxpayers footing the bill.
•

•
u/Chytectonas 5h ago
There’s at least one cut from the same cloth as me who’s ready to be contacted and whisked away to a liberal city.
•
u/Life_Standard6209 7h ago
Let them chief has his child wifes (multiple)! It is written in the sky by the gods!
•
u/brute-forced 6h ago
Remember redditors whenever you a headline like “uncontacted“ in 2026 that it’s total bullshit and it’s to get you to click on it
•

•
u/ReadInBothTenses 7h ago
This photo has been posted so much, the redditors on this app are less contacted than the tribe.
