Whilst I cannot be certain that this is truly Violet because my saltid ear tag reader's batteries are dead again, I feel sure that it must be her. She's moved far from the lime tree though if so; I'll have to try and find where exactly she's been living. Maybe she's shacked up with the green tree frog living in our outdoor pot plant..

Violet is an Elegant White Moustached Violet Simaethula, aka Simaethula violacea, or just Violet to her friends :)

I’ve had jumpers before but none of them have ever done the “uppies” motion as much as this one does. She’s also just reluctant to jump in general, and sometimes when she does she’ll just like. Try jumping straight up vertically. And end up falling on her back. She’s never hurt herself as far as I can tell but it’s very odd (and silly). I know this interpretation is anthropomorphizing her a bit but… does she maybe have bad eyesight?

If I didn't know better I'd think that the fame is getting to her head! Almost every morning this week it's the same: As i walk down to the lime tree she calls home she emerges, perching on the edge of the tallest branch, on a leaf that is right at head height, watching me approach like the great lumbering oaf that I am.

Since keeping my phone steady is so difficult at the levels of zoom she requires, (my heartbeat shakes the picture substantially) I have taken to placing her on a wooden garden seat nearby for our photoshoots. Rather than resent this and scurry away immediately as I had originally suspected she would do, instead she starts with the bum wiggle almost immediately when j approach, leaping off of her leaf and onto my hand the moment i extend it out towards her.

From there we move to the garden bench, where I can rest the phone on thr stable surface and get a steady shot for you guys. Once i'm all set up, I swear violet seems to show off for the camera - i tried watching her without it once, and she just stood there unimpressed before strolling off; nary a spin nor twirl in sight 💜

I was sitting in the climbing works bar and heard a teeny thud, and saw this guy sitting next to a spider-shaped chalky mark and looking confused. honestly the best experience I’ve had in a while.

also, can anyone ID? jumping spiders aren’t really my forte and the internet is being useless for identification.

Was in target of all places with my son when he noticed this little guy on our cart. We removed the carts items and walked it outside where it promptly jumped into a bush. Wanted to share this video with you guys.

This happened a while ago now and I posted it on the spiders sub but I didn’t know there was a sub dedicated to jumping spiders at the time so I wanted to share here as well

Over a course of a week ive slowly got to introduce myself to this cute girl. I found her at my job about a week ago and Ive been holding her everyday on my break and shes slowly gotten used to me. What to do yall think? Located in maine.

Update: I will not be housing her after all the feedback I have always enjoyed jumping spiders and have recently thought about purchasing one and just happened to find this beautiful girl and was just asking for opinions. Thank you everyone that answered with helpful info and cute comments.

This fellow is an adorable tiny beetle mimic from the genus Porius which lives and hunts on the undersides of fan palm foliage. Apologies for the poor video quality; filming such tiny critters with just my phone gets tricky.
