You can go into the app details and click option for open supported links which then redirects to yt revanced

Nothing like finding a workaround only for it to create a whole new problem

Yeah I noticed it too. So usually, if I need to search, I search on google and it gives me the best reddit result.

Adding "reddit" to the end of every Google search is the only way I survive.

Real. Google even shows the answer below the link, but if it's a long answer i gotta click on it and then it takes ages to find it on the reddit page. Well not anymore since they added comment search but still.

Google just has more advanced and precise search engine. Looking a problem up on Reddit directly they kinda just throw what they got at you that matches your search. Google brings up the best results, plain and simple (and the help from AI makes their search power even better)

It's almost like it's a search engine or something

You would still expect the app to be able to search through itself better than something else. No need to be passive aggressive

Google pays them to keep it bad because capitalism. It'll only get worse under AI, because capitalism.

At this point I’m starting to think it was designed specifically to test our patience

- Google uses a massive presorted index of the web and a pagerank algorithm. It's literally the best at its job for so many reasons, not least of which is the investment of vast amounts of compute resources to constantly refine this function.
- Hardly anyone wants to use the second or third best options when you get worse results, so the audience stays and they use that advantage to keep their product better.
- Now that is not to say you couldn't make your own search functional tools, but there is no incentive. How much will a company make because their search tool on their website was better? None that's why they only invest in things like the retention algorithm that controls your feed (and probably outsource that in most cases too)

To search only for reddit or another site use in your Search Engine:
site:reddit.com <text>
works with google and duckduckgo, probably with other Search Engine too
