That sounded suspiciously like one of those "hint" things

Too true! Whether she's joking or flirting, if she's a coworker then it's best to keep her at arm's length.

Get her number though. Just in case.

Even more so if it's an intern, even if there's no coercion at all, you don't want anyone to think there's something untoward going on

lol, a huge number of people in this world have gotten married by dipping their pen in their company's ink. It's the people who couldn't maintain their relationship that are pushing this advice.

Yeah but thats because some relationships should come to an end. I've dipped, dove, ducked, and dodged in the company ink and its never been worth it for me.

I did however end up in a wonderful relationship with a customer from the bakery I worked at, and we have a beautiful child.... and thats kinda like dipping it in the ink.... so i guess I cant really talk.

while this is true that it can definitely go right, when it goes wrong in that setup, it can go terribly wrong. Hence the quote

Yeah if you’re in the working world that seems like the best shot you’ve got lol. Either that or a bar or apps. I’d take some awkwardness at work over dating app hell

I've seen three couples formed at work that ended up in marriage.

And one pregnancy.

I would need a solid hour to jot down the other, unsuccessful ones (there were that many, but tbf many were while working at a restaurant).

It the people who couldn't act like respectable adults afterwards.

You can hook up, date, and even have a relationship - as long as you can treat each other respectfully after.

Nah fuck that. You can always get another job.

I dunno man, I keep hearing stories about how hard it is to get a job these days

Easier to get a job than a gf from what I've heard. When is Tinder going to start asking for references?

That's what the employers want you to think.

She’s an intern. She’ll probably be gone in a few months anyway.

A lesson you only need to learn once. Or ideally never.

Iv watched other people learn the HR lesson. Not worth losing a good job and especially if the other person wants to turn it into a lawsuit of your words vs theirs.

Back when I was single, I didn't even look at girls in my apartment after a bad work experience. The best policy is to completely divide your everyday living situation and work situation from romantic partners. Its hard to predict how bad things will go when/if it does go south.. but it can be extremely bad.

Especially interns or subordinates.

I learned a hard lesson this way. I was working a part time gig for extra beer money and the new boss was this stunning redhead. We went to a few out of state meetings and chatted casually but nothing came of it. After a year or so we ended up having a few drinks and one thing led to another. We now have 2 kids and are happily married for 18 years in June, lesson learned about "company ink".

Shit, I wouldn't even be alive if my parents followed that advice some 45 years ago.

I highly recommend it. Get paid to get off.

Just don't do it as a manager.
