A lot more can cut diamond than diamond, and law enforcement aren't (usually) thieves, you don't need AI if you just figure out what it's looking for.

Cyberpunk 2077 has this AI called the Blackwall. AIs devoured the Internet decades in the past and threatened to overtake a lot more. Humans fought back with the Blackwall. It's only job is to keep the other AIs penned up on the old web. Reaching through it is basically black magic, pulling incredible, malignant power from entities that would destroy the world if they could ever pierce the veil.
