Firing squad it is then.

Supposedly anyone who's crimes were committed before January 1, 1999 could choose the electric chair. She apparently asked for the firing squad but it's not an legally approved method in the state

u/Stuck_in_my_TV 3h ago
I really donāt understand why. Itās obviously the cheapest, fastest, and cleanest method humans developed.

Really depends on what you did and how hated you are by the community.Ā Itās still a person pulling the trigger and deciding to aim center mass vs limbs and stomach.Ā

With lethal injection, itās still a person taking active measures to end someoneās life, this whole making it easier for the executioner is a cop out.
If something like this messes up the people doing it, maybe we shouldnāt be doing this.

Perhaps its time to check online and realize only 50 third world countries + usa and Japan still do this shit at all and wonder if this is a good company to be in.

u/thebunnyrocket 5m ago
We have drone technology. We can simply make a robot do it.
I find it hard to believe that it would be more difficult to find a marksman willing to end a life when there are medical practitioners willing to end them.

From Tennessee. From what I heard she told them she has bad veins but electric chair was against her religion. Which Iāve never heard of. She also request to be hanged.

u/xdrag0nb0rnex 12m ago
Never heard of that either, and quite frankly, I don't think I care what is or isn't allowed in her religion.

The old days of if you survived an execution it was seen as an intervention by God have long gone
1
u/SteveoberlordEU 51m ago
Tbh you either hung by a rooe or held air for a long time. You did nor survived a blade in the neck, you bleed out after just slower.
1
u/soliera__ Linux User 1m ago
Proper hanging doesnāt involve suffocation.
Judicial hangings are a long drop, combined with a knot that jerks your head back. The end result is near instant death by snapping the neck.
The other type of hanging blocks blood flow to/from the brain via the jugular vein and/or carotid artery. Done properly, the airway is not fully compressed, and you can still breathe.

The more I lve learned about lethal injection the less humane it has appeared to be, and now add ineffective to the list. Go back to something effective.
2
u/Legendary_Mav 54m ago
It really is. Lethal Injection is entirely for the observers to witness what looks like a peaceful death when in reality lethal injection is one of the most agonizing and painful ways to die.
The worse part is the person injected is feels it all and is literally have a systematic shutdown but they're unable to move, struggle or even show pain due.
There's a reason why lethal Injection is getting less popular, it's inhumane and the mass majority of the medical field is against and refuses to sell lethal injections to states.
If given the option over firing squad or infection, any reasonable person will choose firing squad because lethal injections fail in how they're supposed to work a high majority of the time.

Do we know if sheās⦠āalive aliveā or just ānot dead.ā What I mean is they used some fucked up off brand Chinese Draino Bullshit - is she like brain damaged or stroked out now? I can go either way on the death penalty, but if weāre going to do it- it needs to be instant. Just bring back the firing squad. Lethal injection is bullshit. No real doctor or nurse wants anything to do with it.

Iām against death penalty no matter what form, but taking that option off the table, if we have the death penalty it should just be firing squad or even bringing back the guillotine. Those donāt fail and honestly are more humane (I use that lightly) than this. I donāt know why we go through all this when we can save millions of dollars by using a few bullets.
Again, I donāt think killing people to prove that killing is wrong makes a whole lot of sense, but still.
1
u/Jomgui 49m ago
The guillotine could fail and would result in horrible consequences for those viewing and the guy getting killed, the blade could get stuck halfway through the neck and just leave the guy bleeding to death while his head hung from what remained of his neck.
The firing squad used to put psychological pressure, which leaders tried to alleviate by filling almost all of the soldiers' guns with blanks and not telling anyone which is which... It wasn't all that successful.
Honestly, they could just do it like veterinarians do with dogs and put the to sleep while stopping chest contractions.

Yeah I think the only reason we don't put people down like animals is because there's some sick fucks out there that want to see people suffer, at least a little, before they die. I don't see any other logical reason for the situation we're in
1
u/asmallman 48m ago
Thats a batman mentality. If you kill one murderer, you are no better than the murderer.
But if you kill a lot, you are better because you offset the score.
Its just logic!

The death penalty was never about proving a point that killing is wrong. It was purely for removing the person from society as quickly and cheap as possible, and not have to support and house them until their natural death they would otherwise already be sentenced to.

u/n33dwat3r 8m ago
Except death row inmates actually cost more than lifers due to the fact that they get more appeals.

Why not send her to Canada. Their great at killing the informed. A death row inmate should be no problem. Or at least adopt their process.

She did deserve the death penalty. She bragged about having a peace Colleens skull and she carved pentagram into her chest while she was alive

u/Mortal-Instrument 2h ago
Well that certainly doesn't sound like letting her go is an option then, does it? Life in prison it is then.

Or, we could stop this lethal injection shit and just shoot her. Firing squads really were effective.
