[Shelburne] The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to American businessman Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record breaking price over $12 billion, multiple sources told ESPN. Kushner and Iger pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter.

There's so much capital flowing to the top 0.00001% that they really have nothing to do with it except stash it in as many different assets as they can. They will basically own everything of value in the near future.

About 10 years too late for that. Been in the works since at least 2017 in ohio

https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/central-ohio-news/federal-officials-plan-to-open-2840-acres-of-ohios-wayne-national-forest-for-fracking/amp/

I know National Park =/= National Forest but the point is that it’s all on the block eventually without intervention.

I think they are more likely to jack prices on everything. Ticket prices are going to double in the next three years, and everything is going to have an upcharge with it. All concessions will have to be preordered on the Lakers' app and you pick up at a kiosk. With a convenience fee added of course. Become a premium Lakers' fan for only $250 a month and you get access to streams of practice and a Lakers' trainer will set up a workout plan just for you (totally not one of five premade plans they email you) so you can train like a Laker.

213

Yeah Ballmer is cheating the game but arguably is nothing of a bad person compared to a Kushner. This is the guy who was trying to fuck with Fifa WC. This is terrible

21

u/mistervulpes Aug 12 '26

Do we mean the same Kushner family, where one of them received a $2billion "investment" from Saudi Arabia? The same Saudi Arabia that the US recently announced will allow to develop nuclear program? The same US that had top secret files hidden in a former president's bathroom right around the same time as the $2billion "investment?"

138

u/Thornton__Melon Rockets Aug 12 '26

Ballmer I see as a passionate owner - built the arena with his own money - and just really wants to win and did some crooked shit. I don’t see him as evil.

Kushner/and his brother’s in laws (and his brother) - evil.

Surprised Iger got involved with this, there was reports he was thinking of running for president, that ain’t happening now.

87

There's only so many people that can buy an NBA team nowadays. Small pool of bidders. Mostly have ties to gambling or political corruption.

Seeing the kushners get involved in sports makes my heart die a little more every time. Between this and Dundon the NBA is going down a dark path

u/asetniop Celtics Aug 12 '26

And of course there's also Oak Tree Capital getting a foothold in with the Suns/Ishbia, and Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont and the Mavericks...

Fun fact: Josh Kushner is the majority owner and managing partner of Thrive Capital, which is a minority owner of the Miami Heat. Bob Iger serves as an adviser to Thrive Capital.

Conflicts of interest don’t matter anymore.

At this point, they got the all the Gulf nation's money via the protection racket Trump is running, and constantly milking more by poking Iran every few weeks.

The cynical side of me thinks that the Trump Admin. secretly told Mark Walters they would drop the SEC and Federal investigations into his related party transactions with Guggenheim and his insurance companies if he sold his stake in the Lakers to the partnership of Kushner/Iger.

I feel it is a full propaganda push, so not organic.

But I am always amazed about how much shit Hunter Biden still gets over a couple of laptops, a job he got thanks to his dad.

Yet the Trump or the Kushner get a free pass for stealing, rug pull and every shady deal.

Here's hoping that Iger runs the show and it's just Kushner's money in there. If not, we are about to see some drama.

So Mark Walters makes $2b just for having $10b in the first place while the rest of the country stresses out trying to afford groceries. Cool system we have here.
