There are more PCs who suffer like this in the corporate world than there are those that are cleaned regularly in the consumer market. In a major city there's likely mass PC torture chambers on every block.
Just looked inside my PC, haven't cleaned it in 6 years. There's not even remotely this much dust in there. I do have HUGE corsair filters on the case though.
In school I remember them telling us how toxic that dust was. Gives me chills every time I see pics like this. You’re just helplessly covered in this dust that gives you all sorts of terrible medical issues. Sometimes not until decades after exposure.
IT dude here. We had a miniature leaf blower for dusting out PCs, we would take em out back and blast em from 10-15 ft away, the couds of dust were always satisfying. We had one guy bring his PC in, smelled like an ashtray. It was caked in dust.
Took out back and hit it with the air....no dust came out, it was cemented in with cigarette tar. Boss refunded the guy and told him we would not be able to get it to stop overheating....and to also quit smoking.
Question? how does your PC get to this place without you noticing any of it my man? And if thats what your PC picked up imagine what you been breathing in?
Sitting on the carpet as far back under the desk as it can go because they think the case is "ugly". Notice the fans slowly getting louder, but just shrugging it off as the performance degrades until the day the system refuses to boot.
My brother in a nut shell, plus with the add bonus of a shedding dog and cat and a cheap ass Dell computer using one 120 fan and a shroud over the CPU for cooling. The shroud was packed with animal hair, a straw like substance, and dust. All coloured yellow from his smoking a pack of cigs a day.
As part of a bunch of computer stuff I picked up, I got this HP 6200 pro which had been running continuously for probably 13 years, maybe sitting on the carpet. Had large piles of dust inside. Ran OK. Cleaned up pretty nicely with an air vompressor. Put in more RAM, fitted a GTX 660 and it is a fabulous gaming machine for XP.
Out of sight, out of mind. This is part of the reason every computer I've ever owned has taken up desk space. I wanna be able to see and hear what it's doing from time to time.
That carpet looks pretty matted. Wonder the last time its actually been washed.
Its probably caked full of OPs skin and hair which gets kicked up any time he rolls his chair around blowing straight through the pc aerosolizing and landing back on the carpet (and also back inside OPs lungs).
yo, i clean my pc like once or twice a year, so not very often. i do smoke a lot of weed and have a dog, that loses a shit ton of hair, but my rig never looked like that, not even close lol
a fluffy cat could shed enough fur to create a mat like that.
or if OP or their family does a lot of sewing and is frequently cutting lots of fabric. but yeah that's pretty impressive amount of unusual looking dust.
On the contrary, I’ve have 6 cats and one that sits on top of my computer from time to time. I haven’t cleaned my PC in at LEAST 5 months and it doesn’t look like this at all. It doesn’t even look remotely close. In fact, side by side you might mistake my PC as brand new in comparison.
I have no earthly idea what could cause this level of filth.
Yeah, same. I built my PC in late 2020 and really haven’t touched it since. I can see some dust on the leading edge of the fan blades, and a light layer overall throughout the pc. But it’s hardly noticeable.
This guys’s PC… I really feel he’s shortening his life. If the PC looks like this, then he’s breathing that crud in as well.
I live in a dusty 107 year old home. I have a shedding dog. Even in my worst times it got no where close to this bad. How did you even get to this point?
im sweating bullets trying to figure out why my 7800x3d is 48-49c idle in windows (3-5% cpu usage, with a h150i elite capillex xt, room temp is around 29c)
and this guy.. idek what to say
Go take a fucking shower, and scrub EVERYWHERE please, your ass, every bit of fucking skin, scrub that shit with some soap. Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo and then when you're done, vacuum up your fucking house.
Fun fact: dust accumulations like that triggers fire. 🔥
Somehow my parents room had the absolute worst air quality in the house, a computer I built for them lit up, opened the case to find basically that but with a whole lot of charring. House was on a major road about 100yds from a highly traveled 3way street light. Betting most of that dust was road dust since the front of the house would get blackened by dust yearly.
Just had to sand down that popcorn ceiling, didn't you? (BTW, don't ever do that yourself or let someone who is not a professional do it either, that shit goes everywhere including your lungs)
