Build/Battlestation I’m a 60 year old that loves gaming.
ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDMR OLED monitor, Epomaker Galaxy 100 keyboard /w Quinn switches, ATK Dragonfly Ultra Max 2.0 mouse, KEF LS50 Meta speakers KEF KC62 subwoofer, Fosi ZH3 DAC/HP amp Fosi ZA3 amps X2 (monoblock), Sennheiser HD 800 S headphones G.SKILL Wigidash sensor panel
Build: Antec Flux Pro Noctua edition case, MSI MEG X870E Ace Max mobo, Ryzen 9950X3D CPU, RTX 5090FE GPU, 64GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-6000, Two WD Black SN8100 4TB (Gen 5) drives, One WD Black SN850X 4TB (Gen 4) drive, Seasonic Prime PX-1600 Noctua Wdition PSU, Noctua NL-LC1-42 AIO, seven Noctua NF-A14X25 G2 fans Four Noctua NF-A12X25 G2 fans, Thermal Grizzly Wireview 2.
I posted my setup about a year ago it hasn’t really changed too much. I have a new Mobo, AIO, Case, PSU, and monitor. One of my main goals for this build is to not need any software to control the hardware (like icue, Armory Crate, etc). I broke that rule with the Wigidash but it’s worth it and the software is pretty solid and doesn’t use a lot of resources if you don’t use it with Aida64. I also use Fan Control to obviously control my fans.
Edit: added my subwoofer
Second edit: Because so many have told me that I need to toe in my speakers. These speakers are designed for no toe in. They sound worse if you angle them at your head. Their amazing soundstage collapses.
Third edit: The person in the upper left is Ringo Starr. It’s made from LEGO.
Fourth edit: I’m currently playing Starfield (300 hours in) next on the list is probably Crimson Desert or Witcher 3 remaster (3rd playthrough for this game). Also in the backlog is STALKER 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 along with many others.

I generally play one game at a time. Right now I’ve got about 300 hours into Starfield. Next on the list is probably Crimson Desert but with the new Witcher 3 remaster coming out I may be playing through that for the third time.

I’ve been loving starfield for the past 2 years. On playthrough two right now, paying more attention to detail and diving way deeper this time. I really quite like it regardless of what people say

If you want open world games with lots to explore, might i recommend STALKER 2? The original trilogy is janky, so even though they are some of my favorite games ever, can't really recommend them without a big BUT. The new one is great, lost a bit of jankiness to boot and it's just fun to run around and find stashes of loot, listen to the NPCs conversations, getting upgrades, etc...

I'm 58, a noob who just built his first budget gaming PC and I need to get to your level! BTW, this is all the space I have in my tiny house for this setup. Got some large furniture sets. And ignore the Nuvision tablet device. Found it and was hoping to install Linux on it or something but it's not compatible as far as I can tell.

Neither are in the center and they are both at weird heights.
You can actually play games like this?

Monitors are too high. Perhaps tilt one of the monitors to 90 degree (vertical) and lower it to the desk. Just a general advice. Also isn't the cabinet getting in your way ? If I was in your place I would have already broken the side panel with my legs lol. I think you can move the desk a little to the right and place the cabinet between the wall and the desk legs to the left.

Once you go studio monitors for your PC setup, you'll never go back to "PC speakers" of any sort. 😃
My PC setup includes:
- 2x ADAM A5X
- ADAM Sub8 subwoofer
- Schiit Modi 3 DAC (using S/PDIF from the PC)
Cleanest and best PC audio setup I've ever had.

Congrats on the new build. Kudos on the Thermal Grizzly Wireview 2. I would not want that cable in my house without that sort of security device checking it.
I fully understand the not wanting to install windows drivers. I personally ported to Linux. It saves me chasing all the spyware that comes with Windows these days.
Also a 60 yo gamer.

https://humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime
People in their 30s around here coping that 'their reaction times aren't what they used to be.'

u/e1m8b 22d ago edited 22d ago
I was joking in group chat that I'm getting better with age. Grew up thinking I "sucked" at reflex based games like fighters or shooters. Then one day I said fuck it and decided to really test my limits.
Turns out I'm pretty quick and still competitive well into middle age particular with mouse and keyboard. Not eSports elite status or anything but respectable enough to stay productively contributing with online play.
Specifically, I was able to definitively stay under 200ms reaction speed when fully rested and mentally 100 percent. Obviously, only during peak performance but as long as I can still hit 200ms as needed, good enough to play twitch games still.
EDIT: "Proof" of my own stats just to make this comment more interesting :)

u/Katana_DV20 22d ago
> “aren’t video games for kids”
That phrase annoys TF out of me, I have heard it too. Its such an ignorant comment
Yet these other "adult" things seem to get a free pass:
Getting drunk
Attending sports events wearing overprice team clothes
Getting stoned
Splurging on expensive cars
Smoking
Getting the boys together to watch other boys run around a field throwing a ball on a big screen
Watching cars go round and round in circles from a stand
Throwing money at Disney/Netflix/Prime etc to watch shows
Any other hobbyBut video games? Video games bad!

Man that rig is an absolute monster, like you raided a nuclear reactor for parts and somehow made it beautiful. But honestly the best part is seeing a 60 year old still geeking out over hardware, that's the real endgame. Also that 401k comment got me good cause this is basically a small car sitting on that desk. So what you been playing on that beast, gotta be something that makes those KEFs sing right?

Hi, I’m planning a build with a HYTE Y70 and a TRYX Panorama SE 360, and I’m trying to hide the AIO tubes as much as possible from the front glass.
My idea is to mount the TRYX radiator at the top of the Y70, with the tube connections on the left side. Instead of routing the tubes directly across the visible area of the motherboard to the CPU block, I’m wondering if I could route them toward the rear of the case first.
Basically, I want to use the space between the rear end of the top radiator/fans and the rear section of the Y70 to route and secure most of the tubes out of sight. Then, once the tubes reach the area above the CPU, I would bring them forward/down with a gentle bend and connect them to the CPU block.
The idea would be something like:
Radiator → toward the rear → hide/secure the tubes there → return toward the CPU → short visible section → CPU block.
Do you think there is enough clearance in the Y70 for this routing, and can the TRYX Panorama SE tubes make the required bends without being kinked or put under too much stress?
Thank you so much
