"Bernie Sanders is anti-Semitic" - Israel probably

52

u/TheWatersOfMars 12h ago

Unfortunately, this accusation is increasingly being leveled at Jews with even moderate criticisms of Israel. Just look at what's happening to the NAZA documentary filmmakers - being told they're not welcome back in Israel, even being threatened with the removal of their citizenship.

It's exhausting, honestly, because it always feels like you're a "bad Jew" to someone somewhere, no matter what you believe, no matter what you do or say.

13

u/newbrevity 9h ago

Don't worry about what other people think. You know that murder is wrong. You hold that as a foundational belief. If someone calls you a "bad Jew" because you're against murder, you know they're full of shit. I'm going to go out on a branch here and assume that you're not in favor of murder committed by Hamas either. Because you and I are rational people who understand that both sides are wrong and careless about the deaths of innocents but also that killing more people will not solve the problem. It makes perfect sense and yet to those in power, it's a foreign concept.

-17

u/Ragnar_Dragonfyre 6h ago

You’re only a “good Jew” if you criticize Israel according to a lot of people on this site and outside of it.

Which means that the overwhelming majority of Jews are “bad Jews” according to those same people since most Jews support Israel what with Israel being absolutely central and core to their faith.

9

u/SalmonSmokedSalmon 5h ago

It's because the state of Israel has conflated Jews with Zionism/Israel for decades. We shouldn't be looking at whether someone is Jewish to determine goodness, only whether they are Zionists. In which case they would be bad PEOPLE regardless of religion.

-10

u/Ragnar_Dragonfyre 3h ago

It takes two parties for conflation to be effective.

One party to do conflating and the other to accept that conflation.

Pro-Pallys have wholeheartedly accepted that conflation.

Do you believe in a two state solution? Yes? Congratulations, you’re a Zionist.

u/LadyPaige 5h ago

The sad thing is, it’s not Jewish people in general that are doing this! It’s Netanyahu and his government. To say people are being antisemitic because the actions of those in power is like saying all Americans are MAGA because the orange jackass and much of the government is.

2

u/ScenicAndrew 14h ago

If only everyone at his bar mitzvah knew that they were in the presence of one such young man.

-13

u/gospdrcr000 17h ago

You can't support one or the other without being anti Jewish? I don't care what your fucking book says, can we all just try to get along

21

u/inotparanoid 13h ago

I think they are pointing to the irony if Israel calling a Jewish person anti-semitic.

Sanders is Jewish.

96

u/CaptStinkyFeet 18h ago

I’m fully withdrawing into the fantasy that Bernie won in 2016 and this nightmare never happened.

79

u/LittleKitty235 16h ago

In my view Bernie losing the democratic primary in 2016 was the last chance we had to catch ourself before falling down the mountain.

33

u/danielstover 15h ago

Debbie Weisserman-Schultz is to blame

We don’t deserve Bernie. Still going after all that. What an absolute man.

31

u/Dark_Shade_75 14h ago

I remember back in 2016 people said we can't vote for Bernie because he was too old and would likely die while President.

Ha. Hahaha.

4

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 13h ago

Beginning to see why he lost. He wasnt a big supporter of israel even then. Thats how he got shut out.

7

u/KingSwank 9h ago

The DNC destroyed his chances of winning and put everything behind Bubba’s wife…gee I wonder why

-13

u/Cleb323 8h ago

Right. And people still want to argue one is better than the other.. They're both the same wings of an evil shit bird. An evil shit bird that is owned by another country

0

u/westdl 16h ago

Amen, LK.

71

u/ratherenjoysbass 20h ago

Tag all of the people who have been chiming in on Bernie refusing to call it a genocide

15

u/Stubbs94 12h ago

He has changed his tune recently, but for a long time he was refusing to.

7

u/rectumrooter107 7h ago

Uh... because he wasn't. Just as he was still recently saying it was ok to split Israel with defensive military aid.

11

u/SQD2_Insquidious 20h ago

Seriously. fuckers have been spouting that to high hell

24

u/Excgagurated 19h ago

I mean, until now he didn't right? It's a mark against bernie and not the reality of the genocide to be clear

11

u/n0_punctuation 16h ago

Bernie is still incorrectly labeling this as a Netanyahu issue and not an Israeli society issue as well

10

u/ratherenjoysbass 15h ago

There's constant protests against netanyahu in tell aviv. No people are a monolith and there's plenty of people that have consistently voted and moved against the current administration, much like the US

17

u/QuotingZion 14h ago

That's meaningless.

64% of Israelis believe there are no innocents in Gaza. Keep in mind 20% of Israelis are Arabs.

https://mondoweiss.net/2025/07/poll-overwhelming-majority-of-jewish-israelis-share-genocidal-belief-there-are-no-innocent-people-in-gaza/

1

u/ratherenjoysbass 13h ago

And 1/3 of the US voted for a known criminal and pedophile

6

u/David-Puddy 7h ago

What about....?

And what about....?

But what about....?

6

u/Cleb323 8h ago

33% compared to 64%.... Hmmm

7

u/KSW8674 15h ago

How many in Israel see Palestine as a country and worth existing?

-10

u/ShakaJewLoo 8h ago

It's not a country and doesn't exist.

1

u/Cleb323 8h ago

You get those $5000 checks huh?

-10

u/ShakaJewLoo 7h ago

For pointing out truth and reality?

4

u/n0_punctuation 15h ago

Some Israelis having an issue with him does not mean that the majority don't support the genocide. The way the iof conducts itself should be evidence enough for that.

1

u/Stubbs94 12h ago

The opposition to Netanyahu, the ones that liberals and centrists want to win is saying Netanyahu is not militant enough.

1

u/awawe 9h ago

The problem isn't the people of Israel, it's the state of Israel itself. You cannot have a settler-colonial ethnostate without genocide.

-5

u/zampe 15h ago

So then its a Hamas issue or all of Palestinian society Issue?

6

u/Stubbs94 12h ago

Hamas, the PFLP or any of the other resistance groups are not an issue for Palestinians. They only exist because of the occupation.

2

u/n0_punctuation 15h ago

Does every Palestinian serve in hamas ? Even if they did Hamas has caused far less harm than the iof.

0

u/shaceyboy 10h ago

Hamas (and armed "resistance" in general) is overwhelmingly supported by the Palestinian people. They're not looking for a two state solution, they want a single arab state with no Jews.

Hamas and the Palestinians who support them got the war they wanted when they slaughtered and kidnapped Israeli civilians on October 7th. Come to terms with that, and then you can start having an actual discussion on the topic.

2

u/n0_punctuation 10h ago

I don't blame the Palestinians for feeling that way considering how they've been treated by the Israelis. Of course they hate jews when the star of David has been a symbol of oppression to them their entire lives, and their oppressors wear Judaism like a shield against criticism. Of course they support armed resistance, not only is it a legal right but peaceful options have been tried and failed. And of course they don't want to live with the people who have put them through all this and sing kumbaya. What a ridiculous thing to expect.

I am of course paraphrasing Norm Finklestein here as he relates this idea back to how his parents who were holocaust survivors hated all Germans. He didn't like it, but he understood why based on what they'd been through.

Talking about October 7th at this point is so beyond disingenuous. Not only did history not begin on October 7th as everyone knows this kind of reaction doesn't come out of knowwhere. But also the fact that the response was so violent and completely out of proportion that it constitutes genocide as collective punishment. And lastly there is strong evidence that the Israelis not only allowed October 7th to happen as they were warned beforehand. But also it's likely they killed their own via the Hannibal directive. Unless you propose hamas militants had 30mm autocannons strapped to their gliders ?

Any other stupidity you want to throw my way or can you just block me like every other hasbara freak eventually does.

-6

u/zampe 15h ago

So its ok to do war crimes as long as theres less war crime than the other sides war crimes?

11

u/n0_punctuation 14h ago

Glad you agree with me that Israel does far more war crimes than hamas. Welcome to reality it must be scary for you.

What you and every other zionist on here ignores is once again power dynamics between the two groups.

Why do you bother anymore honestly? Nothing will save Israel from what is coming. All apartheid falls.

-7

u/zampe 14h ago

You said they do more, implying its ok for the side that just does a little less. You dont have a problem with war crimes in general?

13

u/n0_punctuation 14h ago

Okay so we agree Israel does more war crimes and you choose to defend them anyway ? Thats kinda weird dude

6

u/zampe 14h ago

Im repeating what you said in order to understand your position. You seem to be trying very hard to hide your position because it is hypocritical.

6

u/n0_punctuation 14h ago

My position is that since the iof is a people's army with mandatory service. The actions it carries out is reflective of their society. As the majority of gazans are firstly children and secondly not members of hamas that would obviously not reflect on them. My comment on the quantity of crimes was just to point out how idiotic yours is.

Is that simple enough worm ?

17

u/xExerionx 13h ago

Accuses?? Netanyhu us a internaltional criminal because of what he did down there

4

u/shaun2312 9h ago

"Sen. Bernie Sanders Accuses Israel Of Genocide"

He calls it like it is.

10

u/Brutzelmeister 7h ago

Israel learned a lot from the nazis and their tactics. You would think they have learned other lessons from that time but here we are...

7

u/bjarnimaur 19h ago

they only need to tell the truth that bibi has nukes and then taxpayers in the united states can not by creed and law give them aid ----The Symington Amendment (1976) ----The Glenn Amendment (1977)

4

u/Alt-F-THIS 10h ago

Accuses? Israel is committing genocide

7

u/Patara 17h ago

"Accuses" objective facts are accusations now?

5

u/awawe 9h ago

This was Netanyahu's idea. He has openly stated he wants to stop accepting military aid. The idea is for Israel to get aid in other ways, like research grants, and use the money saved to buy the arms instead. In effect, nothing really changes.

The only way to actually stop supporting this genocide is an arms embargo.

-8

u/PShelley 13h ago

It’s only a genocide if you never look at any data, remain completely disingenuous about what constitutes a genocide, and never compare it to anything else we have historically understood to be a genocide.

8

u/IBYCFOTA 10h ago

'The ICJ Report and a formal finding by the UN Commission of Inquiry stated that Israeli military actions and policies in Gaza violate the 1948 Genocide Convention."

I'm sure they're just being disingenuous and haven't examined the data or other genocides though.

-2

u/PShelley 9h ago

This is an incredibly disingenuous comment. The ICJ has not ruled that there is a genocide in this case. It just hasn’t. You can look it up. Mentioning the ICJ in this way to claim their authority without clearly specifying that they have specifically not found a genocide is textbook misinformation.

The UN Commission you are referring to is just some commission with no authority to rule on genocide in any way, and it’s composed of members who have been commenting about a Jewish cabal controlling the media, to give you a flavor of the kind of people we’re talking about.

-3

u/jhf2112 8h ago

It's the commission of inquiry established by the UN Human Rights Commission to investigate actions in Israel and Palestine, not just "some commission". It hasn't made up the actions of Israel and the IDF out of whole cloth and in the findings of the commission they believe those actions violated the UN definition of Genocide.

Also the commissioner said "Jewish lobby", not cabal, and clarified in his apology he meant a concerted effort by pro-Israeli and Zionist organisations to attack the commission. This is the classic "only Israel gets to conflate Jews and Israel".

Talk about disingenuous.

0

u/jhf2112 12h ago

No offence but I'm going to believe the International Association of Genocide Scholars understands genocide better than a coping redditor.

5

u/shaceyboy 10h ago

Ahh, the one that allows you to be a genocide scholar for the low low price of $30?

0

u/jhf2112 8h ago

Ok that's fair, but there is still the UN Human Rights Commission, Genocide Watch , Amnesty International, B'Tslelem, and MSF to fall back on as more reputable organisations calling it a genocide.

MSF in particular should be listened to since they keep getting killed in IDF double taps when trying to save civilian's lives.

3

u/Goosentra 4h ago

My issue is that each of those orgs has either shown corruption (with this investigation specifically) or had members who were blatantly working with terrorist organizations, which includes Hamas, the elected government of Gaza at the time

2

u/jhf2112 4h ago

They've been accused of that by Israel and pro-Israeli organisations, because of their accusations of Genocide. These are baseless accusations made to protect the perpetrators of genocide. B'Tselem is not working with Hamas.

0

u/Goosentra 4h ago

“Genocide scholar” damn, didn’t see that option on the list of potential majors.

0

u/capt_fantastic 2h ago

the events in gaza meet 4 out the 5 criteria cited in article 2 of the UN genocide convention. so there's that.

1

u/saarlac 14h ago

We don't have the money to bankroll anyone. We are in debt up to our eyeballs.

-2

u/ThisOldHatte 15h ago

To be clear, this is not a call for an arms embargo on Israel. Netanyahu himself has called for an end to subsidies specifically for weapons. Under either of these plans Israel would still be free to exterminate Palestinians armed with US weapons.

-5

u/Ahenshihael 10h ago

Accuses?! Media still running PR campaign for biggest genocidal apartheid regime in the world.

It is a genocide. Even if we ignore all assassinations, destabilising the region, even if we ignore targeting journalists, even if we ignore buying US and EU politicians, even if we ignore ties to Epstein(and in turn partly bankrolling every single far right force in the world), just Gaza alone has enough shit to land every official in jail.

Netanyahu, every single politician and entirety of IDF belong in trials in Hague. And even then even rotting in jail for rest of their lives is too good for those monsters.

-1

u/maxis2bored 9h ago

Everyone that votes no must be identified on public record.

-5

u/LiorZim 3h ago

there is no genocide, next lie please

1

u/ThinkinDeeply 1h ago

Sounds like somethin you mighta heard some dudes sayin leading into the WW2 era. Thats the thing about these kinds of conflicts. Theres the people saying theres no genocide, and then theres the people who cant say there is because they are dead.

1

u/Lift-Dance-Draw 3h ago

There is no genocide in Ba Sing Se

-18

u/Graviturctur 15h ago

Fuck that old hag.

0

u/pomod 15h ago

He's only repeating what virtually every genocide scholar, human rights organization or legal expert in international law have already declared.

-11

u/Graviturctur 15h ago

No not "every."

-6

u/aobmassivelc 13h ago

Yes, they mentioned "scholars" and "experts" - your terrorist Hasbara propagandists don't make those lists.

-23

u/evilpercy 19h ago

Isreal is comiting genocide to prevent genocide?

41

u/hoggytime613 19h ago

Oh yeah for sure, Bernie Sanders, the 325th wealthiest member of congress out of 535 members is DEFINITELY in it for the money after almost 36 years. He's worth 1/26th of what MTG is worth, though, so I guess he's just bad at bean counting.

-42

u/AmbushK 18h ago

-1

Enjoy your bigotry

-3

u/roguemenace 10h ago

Calling Israel an apartheid state is deeply dismissive of the conditions black South Africans were subjected to.

0

u/realchoice 5h ago

It isn't in any way at all. If you don't understand it let's talk. But please do not dismiss my care and attention of the people of South Africa who lived under apartheid. It has been a subject I have studied at length and was alive an aware of when it fell in 1994. If you don't understand the word let's talk.

-2

u/Leggomyegg 8h ago

Refusing to call Israel an apartheid state is deeply dismissive of the conditions Palestinians are subjected to.

-12

u/AmbushK 18h ago

bots gonna bot

1

I see so you just like to complain and not give up anything to stop what is happening. bots gonna bot.

1
