Sukas, a 37-year-old Singaporean livestreamer, asked a local man for help in Giswil, Switzerland, after his motorcycle toppled over on a grassy patch. The Swiss man got angry with him for entering a restricted zone, refused to help, and even made a slanted-eye gesture at him.

Epigenetic Transmission of Stress and Trauma in Humans

I was discussing this with someone on another thread, and I thought I'd share.

As we learn more about the brain and mental health, we are seeing more evidence that trauma can alter your epigenetics and be passed on.

One specific example cited in the article is that "a 30-year study of seventy-seven families over three generations found that biological offspring with two previous generations affected with major depressive disorder had the highest risk of having major depression themselves [64]. Likewise, grandchildren of Holocaust survivors have been shown to have a higher incidence of PTSD, depression, and anxiety [65]. In animal studies, there has also been some evidence that paternal postnatal trauma can have behavioral effects on or up to, the fourth generation";

Regarding studies on animals, the article says "In utero exposure to synthetic glucocorticoids in guinea pigs was shown to influence the cortisol response to stress in the offspring, and they had increased stress-related behaviors [80]. However, this effect was also observed in the next generation, with evidence of long-term programming."

It's a very interesting read, and I thought I'd share.
