I remember when Google Glass was a thing being thrown around 10ish years ago. Sure it seemed cool and interesting but so many people were surprised at just how much privacy goes away.

Today though? "Nah, we don't need privacy. These look cool as heck!" Can only wonder what caused such a massive social turn.

These things have actually gone a ways towards solving the problem of weirdos recording people in public. Before, hidden cameras in glasses were rare enough that you would almost never think to look for them. Now everyone is aware of them and recording this way is actually less viable

not even in most regular porn websites either, as those types of videos filmed without consent will be taken down. such a stupid advice "play disney music" ... like what? what if they're being filmed in public, do they expect them to blast off disney music in the subway? Would be better to cause a scene and break the glasses of this pervert at this point. Such a stupid post, stupid idea, stupid everything! I can tell this thread is full of boomers caus they have no idea how any of this works

It's delusional to think any variety of music could ever possibly stand in the way of this "content" being monetized... either predators pay for the footage, or they don't. The audio is pretty much 100% irrelevant for this sort of thing. It's like saying "if you don't want your art stolen, just put your name in the corner", completely ignoring all the people who will 1. steal it anyway and 2. crop your name out. The bad guys in these situations do not care.

Im not watching a 25 minute video. 

The glasses have a light on them when they record right? And meta bricks ones that have been tampered with.

As far as im aware, its no different than the multitude of other cameras recording people. I fail to see what people are doing that is "creepy bullshit."

What kind of creepy shit are they doing in public that they couldn’t do with a cell phone?

Honestly asking. I bought a pair of these to use for work. I work as a penetration tester, and I use them to record things on physical break-ins. I’m super careful about wearing them because people are very aware of what they are, and there’s a very obvious light when you’re recording. I just find them to be a very convenient hands-free way to record my POV while I’m doing my thing for work when nobody is looking. And they’re great for that. They’re terrible for recording surreptitiously because they’re so obvious.

The only other cool use I’ve found for them is that they work great as a bone conducting headset, and I hate ear buds. Otherwise they sit in their case while I’m not doing a job 🤣
