She might not recover, they put killer doses of pentobarbitol into her. It didn't kill her outright, but she will have terrible chemical burns and tissue death, likely infection, and possibly organ failure or death by pneumonia in the near future.
Tbh lethal injection seems to put the target through a lot of pain to ensure that everyone watching doesn't think they are in pain. If they instead used some sort of high speed hydraulic press they could smash the head into pieces instantly rendering someone dead before they know it but that would look much more gruesome.
The point is you could crush someone's brain into a paste so fast that no human could possibly understand what is happening to them before they die, but instead we need to go with poison or something.
