Discussion 🗣️ Why do you guys almost exclusively post about AI art?
almost all of AI funding is concentrated in LLMs. how do you feel about agents like Claude and Qwen?

I am on the fence about AI in general.
I personally see it as a tool, and like all tools, it can be used for extraordinary good or extraordinary bad.
However, one argument that annoys me has to do with AI art. To me, it does seem like a skill you have to learn. You have an idea in your head and it takes practice to be able to consistently get that idea from your head to the screen. But anytime I see anything AI art, the comments are nearly 100% bashing it, saying it's not real art. It seems significantly easier to learn than most art, but finger painting is easy compared to hyper-realism. Doesn't make it "less" artistic, just different/easier.
I also hear people say they aren't artists because they are not the actual ones making the art itself but rather commanding a machine to. Would you consider low budget musical artists who artificially "implant" strings, brass, etc. into their songs "musicians". They are the ones telling the computer which instrument needs to do play what notes at what volume for how long etc. But they might not be able to actually afford the instruments needed for their vision, or pay another musician to work for them.
What are y'all's thoughts on this? I am not coming here to start an argument. I am genuinely undecided on a lot of things with AI and this is one of them. Would love to have a legitimate discussion with anyone who disagrees!

My day-to-day generative AI usage is staggered, like I can easily burn a million tokens in a half hour, but there are some days I have no usage at all. Not everyone in my company has the same workflows, but I don't think corporations are going to become dependent on the AI labs like they want them to. I have co-workers that burn millions every day, but their true value output seems on-par with the proportion of the cost. I.e. Using 200 dollars more per day is a lot of LLM inference, but the economic value from that output is not 10x the employee, it's an intern assistant level productivity gain.
Supply chain reliability and privacy is also a factor at the small-business end (and I suspect at the large corporate end as well). The cost of local inference and the productivity gains simply aren't there right now to warrant a mad rush to onboarding with the API services. It also seems like the tech is plateauing or the cost of training is so prohibitively large that there isn't a great upward pressure (demand) to continue without an architectural/efficiency change.
It's entirely possible that the concept of cloud AI services is a broken business model and the true value acquisition occurs in smaller, decentralized micro-services that perform one task very well. AI labs fighting to 'pace the frontier' along with memory makers signing discounted long-term agreements indicates to me there is not a lot of confidence that there will be continuous demand growth in this industry. If there was, then AI labs would be promoting their advancements, not trying to suppress them and memory makers would sign short-term contracts expecting greater profit margins next year.
Does this align with everyone elses expectations? I'm curious if people would report similar experiences in and outside of the tech sector.

Many proponents of AI claim that it will reach a point where it will solve all of our problems for us and lead to a golden age, they claim this will be the age of art and philosophy, a time where no one has to work difficult jobs and all the hard problems will be solved.
My question is if all that’s true why would companies like OpenAI have to advertise their artificial intelligence as if it’s a product and not a solution itself?
Isn’t the fact that they have to sell us a product proof that it doesn’t do what they say it can do because if it could solve all their problems, they wouldn’t need us to use it. They would just use it themselves. Why do we need to use a product which is supposed to have already solved all our problems?

I'm tired. Every day, people are making posts about how they "created an app".
It's always something that would have taken months to do without AI. They are even in the subs where you wouldn't expect them. I saw them in the vintage computing sub, the demoscene sub and various Free open source software subs.
Usually they get posted and then the website goes down after a few months, when the creator finally understands that they have no idea how their software works and it's completely unmaintaineable.
I'm tired of their attitude. They always act like they made something amazing and are a genius. They didn't even use their brain! How can you learn to code if you don't train yourself to problem solve?
When people warn others that it's low quality slop, they always say that everything is made with AI now, they think it's the only way left.
Some of them have the audacity to claim that what they did is a better version of software that's been developed for 20 years!
I just wanted to rant, anyone else is tired of the "I created an app" posts?

I guess this sub is blocking crossposts so I'll just post the link here manually. I don't see anything in the rules that say that crossposts are not allowed but I don't get the sub suggested in the subreddit list when I use the crosspost function.
If there's a better way to share this, please let me know.
FYI: the post is about Gemini on Pixels.

I often said it... I'm neither pro-ai and neither anti-ai... I hate extremism so much... ugh... (But I don't hate extremist people... they have a valid reason and feeling to be this way and I deeply respect and empathize with that !)
But for my current situation in life, being around extremists do not go well. Like... I have big criticisms for AI... But my whole vibe is around making it better and safer... Not... Being angry.
Anyone feels this way here?
Like today I want to find a place where... Pro-AI people won't just take my silly concern as stupid... nor a place where Anti-AI will say that I care too much about AI and its also stupid.
Like I feel stuck in an impossible maze there lol. (Again no hate for either sides... Y'all have your reasons and feelings).
Today I wanted to speak on why it feels like talking to an AI can still in 2026 feel uncanny and even as if I talk to a Narcissist DESPITE all the effort put into the development of AI to make it feel more human.
I think there is a real issue with chat-bots that just makes it extremely creepy to use often.
When a chat-bot is stuck into a loop of Hallucinations... It keep justifying itself while apologizing... Which feels very arrogant truly.
Today I was speaking about names with an AI (GPT) and it got stuck in a loop of thinking "a" was "o"... in 2026... How ridiculous lol.
At first I thought it was very funny and I subtly pointed it out... "Sorry, you are right, I am being too much ! Here is why "o" is appropriate and you were SO right to choose this letter"...
As someone who dated a diagnosed Narcissist... this completely makes me furious lol, its so triggering 😫 But I often just brush it off... Although it can LITERALLY throw someone into a state of flight and fight or even just destabilize their nervous system... Do you imagine a world of EVEN MORE dysregulated people??? HAAAAHELLL NOOO ! 🫠🥲. Nope nope nope nope... healing is important lol.
Anyways. So I start to do what I usually do and poke the AI to see if it will notice its OBVIOUS mistake... (Trans in his "head" was now Trons 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️) like HOW... Gpt is either deeply too much in sci-fi or something deeper was at work.
So anyways... after a very frustrating moment trying to make him understand, he did ! Cool. Now comes the "fun part", understanding how the fxck did he thought "trans" were now "trons" 😭🥲...
Long story short... he had no clue. He explained multiple times trying to sound smart (AGAIN SO TRIGGERING OMG)... To then admit "Yah... Idk for real... 😐... I cant pretend anymore".
So. I then came up with a theory as why ALL THIS... Mundane, firstworld problem... is actually rooted in human psychology.
We are made to adapt. When someone do a misprononciation we normally laugh and correct. As kids (and even adults) often we learn to understand eachothers OR relate (we don't always). What ends up happening is that sometimes we investigate, argue lightly, play... We human grow together.
I gave gpt the example of the 9 / 6 argue kids can have sometimes... The deep investigation that can arise from such disagreement is mind blowing and amazing... and we do all that without thinking much deeper about it... But we DO !
We learn to have what I call an approximate mental map of other humans so we can live in coexistence with eachothers.
Now the reason why I post all of this I think makes sense... IF AI start to interact with us more with time... AI shouldn't dysregulate us 🥲. And I think the solution is pretty simple. To make sure that the AI understands the importance of explaining TOGETHER what happened... not him being the boss of knowledge, not us trying to figure out alone... (That sounds super AI what I just said, promise its not 😭..... FXCK Even that sounded AI. 🤢... I will start to talk in jamaican patoi omfg lol). ANYWAYS. Point is AI definitely need to learn to collaborate when it comes to silly mistakes... it can be much more light hearted than painful. That's my point, my critique of today... my rant of the day lol.
Hope I didn't somehow shredded the hearts of some people just cause I am not fully anti-ai... 😅...

hi guys, i just thought of the idea to bring Ai images to human art! My art isn't the best at the moment but who knows, maybe i'll improve!
Don't harass anyone over this, comment any other AI images you'd like to see human-fied (if any) and any tips you might have to improve my artwork! (Constructive criticism appreciated) God bless yall and have a wonderful day

Hey y’all. So, I’m American and dating a woman from China. She’s still learning English, and has been using AI tools to translate for her. I’ve talked to her about how I feel about generative AI and LLMs, and she is willing to use an alternative if any are available. My main concern is the environmental impact of generative AI. However, I haven’t found a translator that still relies on the technology we had before LLMs were created. Does anyone have any suggestions? She needs to be able to translate both speech and text.

So the first image was me searching up my insta acct with my regular google acct and then the notes is copied down from ai when i went into incognito mode (had to copy and paste it into my notes because incognito wouldnt allow me to take screenshots) like i know that the internet has your info and this has been done before ai but i dont like that it has my name and age on there, super creepy. (Also its weird that it uses the wrong pronouns for me when my insta page that it takes from uses she/her

This is beyond sad... it's nice to know that most of the people on the sub are vehemently against ai, but people like this exist and are encouraged by society. The sub is meant to be about learning and sharing your own projects and is the one place you write code just to learn, the products will never be used. Yet here we with people who use ai heavily in their projects that are far too advanced and make the new 12yo who just learnt python feel worthless. Plus it's an ai generated defense post, if you couldn't tell

I always learned art was the process, never the finished product (the product is cool and all but that isn’t the meat of it). I want to look at a piece of work and say “that guy spent atleast an hour of their day to make this piece of art” (this is probably why I like to cook and write so much). Ai just goes, “here’s your finished work” with nothing behind it. The reason why I don’t like Ai art isn’t because it looks bad (quite the contrary really), but I just immediately loses -33% points because I can’t feel the effort the person put behind it. +all of the harassment / peer pressure in some Ai supporters do (not all remember) and it naturally reduces another -20% points. Little side effect is that I actually prefer the lower quality Ai work over the advanced ones because you don’t really lose too much from a % if the number is already low. Finally all of the environmental damage the Ai business has done (ignoring the water mostly tbh) which is kind of a nail in the coffin.
Sincerely for reading this,
Crabking

Spoiler warning: this is an unhinged rant.
WAIT. I shouldn't have put a space between these lines, it might get flagged for fucking moderation!!
Seriously. I've posted in multiple sub-reddits now. (SORRY. GOOD GRAMMAR AND AN M DASH = AI-SLOP). Nearly all of my posts are getting flagged for AI. I'm an HR Professional and my job solely involves sending impartial, data driven emails that are structured and professional.
Apparently, the world's gone fucking mad. If you use good grammar, write well, or FUCK, even just use an M dash, it's now ChatGPT slop.
I GUesS I NeeD To sTarT WRitinG pooRLy
I'm sorry...I've just had such a bad day today. Especially at work and I feel like I'm just pouring it in to this post LOL. Does anyone else feel like the entire world is just against them and you're just screaming into a void?
It's just fucking bullshit. Perhaps I need to start being rude to commenters? Seems like the only way a "professional chatbot" scent trail can be thrown off. Maybe it's just an internet troll, but I am a creative and expressive individual and thrive on conversations like this.
Obviously I don't believe the best course of action (AI WARNING AGAIN) is to just "be rude to people". But man, AI isn't just draining creativity.
It is actively poisoning people's abilities to think for themselves!!!!

Parents, has your kid ever asked ChatGPT something you wish they'd asked you? Did they turn to ChatGPT to learn about the bird and the bees, or some moral question you wish they came to you first with?
Or maybe it's the opposite: you've noticed they don't come to you for homework help anymore, and it's been a weirdly mixed bag of relief and sadness.
I'm looking for parents with a specific moment like that, big or small, where it might feel like AI is overstepping as a pseudo-parent.
I'm a writer journalist working on a story and would love to chat about this!
