I am pretty sure you're alluding to WuWa. In which case I respectfully disagree, the initial buff matters a lot more than you think. The initial hype pretty much decides the best possible future of the game, aka the ceiling. The game may do worse than that depending on how they manage the game, the marketing, the PR etc. But they can't get over the absolute ceiling the initial hype and launch success have already set. Genshin has had a ceiling far beyond any other gacha game and it's not even remotely close. Obviously the game has been doing really well ever since which reflects on its current sales.
On the other hand, WuWa started very poorly with CBT2 story rewrite that completely butchered early Jinzhou story because Kuro chickened out from harsh Chinese player feedback and ended up writing out a bunch of scenes and characters that used to be there (or planned) on CBT1, very buggy initial release and inaccurate weapon descriptions that led to massive distrust towards Kuro as a company after people were misled by Jiyan's weapon effect as though it was the best weapon for Calcharo (when it wasn't), among other things. Its absolute ceiling had already been severely below Genshin's. But they have learned from their mistakes, fixed most of the issues, released banger regions and kept improving on the story so that the game is close to its ceiling now. And anyone who thinks WuWa will ever approach the 2 main Hoyo games in terms of popularity or revenue, or Kuro as a company to Hoyo, is delusional, especially given Kuro is now a Tencent subsidiary while Hoyo is an independent mini-conglomerate. It's not even remotely comparable and unless some really insane stuff happens in the far future, it never will be comparable, long overdue that both sides should stop meaningless tribalism
Tbh this is kinda bullshit point considering that Vesna's main selling point is her exploration ability and that barely anyone cares about Stellar Swirl.
Brother the only difference is vesna is dependent on your stamina bar which h means it going to last longer. In actual practice th3y do damn near the same thing

I refuse to believe you’ve played both of them in the open world lol there is no way in hell you’d say that if you had
I think with diona/barbara and anemo res, vesna flies about 4 times farther, she can go vertically infinitely more than Mizuki, she travels like 2-3x faster..
It feels like you’re basically saying a brand new lambo and a 2001 Honda accord are the same thing because they can both drive from point a to point b lol
Sandrone already mogs Mizuki with a similar hovering skill that has no downtime compared to Mizuki's 10 seconds downtime and only lasts 5 secs, Vesna on the other hand has a flight mechanic that is faster and lasts much longer and even scales with stamina buffs and passives if you want to go crazy with it.
Even if you sprint with Mizuki during her hovering state using stamina, she falls behind quite a lot from what I've tested in co-op compared to both Vesna and Sandrone.
Your comparing mizuki to a character that has 0 downtime and another character whose is based on your stamina. Yumemizuki still floats and still does the exact same time vesna dies to a lesser extent. The value in natlan characters weren't because of thier uptime but because of what they are able to do. If not the natlan characters downtime would make them irrelevant for exploration
Point is that it's not a slightly worse exploration skill, it falls behind quite a lot. Even at longer distances, where you just jog while replenishing stamina, Mizuki cannot catch up fast enough because without sprinting, her hovering state is really slow.
Natlan characters are so good, I got them all because I love exploration skills, Not only do they not use stamina, they also do actually have good uptime, people just got used to the ridiculously long uptime while in Natlan that skews their perception.
Pairing Chasca and Mavuika bike hopping was my go to for so long. What I'm using right now is a combo of Vesna, Mavuika, and C1 Yelan, 0 downtime and covers almost everything, fourth slot is a flex, replacing any of them with Mizuki would make them slower.
