Endfield and Neverness to Everness makes me wonder how Ananta will be received.
Don't get me wrong Ananta looks great but had a similar vibe to N2E, which makes me think if people will dip out a few months later
The market is just way too saturated. It's at this point the older games like WuWa, Hoyo games for the big budget 3D games have established their audience and it's free falling from there with the next big thing (Ananta, Silver Palace) going to cannibalize the playerbases of games that are still getting their foot out the door. Of course this is all armchair speculation since for all we now they're doing completely fine with the relatively new model where mobile isn't the end all be all for earning
Analysts definitely realize this, better than we do. As they study market trends and social trends. It's very likely why we've been seeing 2026-2027 titles abandoning most of the gacha elements (maybe cosmetic gachas or have 100% banners or guaranteed pities much sooner). They aren't going to reel in those audiences without making compromises that may appeal to players. They'd rather make decent money than EoS out of attempted greed. Ananta and Silver Palace are popular enough to probably do fine. Maybe Azur Promilia and Honkai Nexus Anima due to IP/dev trust. Most others will struggle (Astrae Oratio, Sea of Remnants, Kaleido Rider, several others) because lack of familiarity.
I concur, I think Ananta managed to get the "normie" attention going by the people I've seen talking about it, Silver Palace has the advantage of being the first big budget Korean gacha game so that might give it an edge over other CN games especially in the story department since I've heard China has some restrictions on what's allowed to be portrayed, and Nexus Anima is both a Hoyo game and a Honkai so at least that guarantees a lot of people are gonna try it when it comes out. I'm a bit worried about Promilia tho, haven't heard a lot of buzz around it and the devs don't seem very interested in the western market at all but we'll see.
There are so many gachas out there now that it's becoming increasingly harder to get new players to pick up your game, even if they try it, it becomes an issue of wether it's worth it dropping one you're currently playing, an issue of the gacha market is that unlike with full-price games you aren't competing with just the current releases but every gacha game ever released, I've seen people drop WuWa to play FGO.
Other Hoyo games I agree, but I feel like Genshin is pretty much immune to falling off at this point. It is way too big to considerably drop in the foreseeable future. Easily the biggest player retention of any game in history, even most players that quit come back at some point to spend on their favorite characters and a lot of players buy the welkin (there is like 60-70 million monthly players iirc, I could be wrong, but that figure is just massive on its own, so let's say 5-10% players at least buy welkin, that's at least 3+ million welkin buyers which would translate to at least 15 million in welkin monthly revenue alone, not to mention the big spenders)
You really don’t need to spend in NTE, and you’ll still get most of the characters and their weapons. Their Cons aren’t really must haves either, so them making 5 to 7 million every month is pretty expected.
Usually the big spenders aren’t the ones logging in everyday and caring about f2p pulls amount. Genshin which has people still perform 4 star clears is kinda proof that people just spend for their faves. Only exception might be hsr, that game has people by the balls pulling cons and weapons.
Honestly, I think Hypergryph is fine with that as well. It's at a steady enough revenue, and may have a slight bump when they finally start releasing skins. Arknights was like this for a very long time as well, iirc.
Double? So you can't baicang solo on one side and mint solo the other side in BTR anymore? Clear times in 1.1 and 1.2 were already cutting it close when doing that..
Neither of those have genuinely new or good gameplay.
Nte's biggest selling point for many was the GTA aspect. Except the vehicles drive LIKE what you expect from a cheap mobile game. The bicycle physics especially are an utter embarassment. The moped movements, they all look embarassingly incomplete, even worse than FFXIV's mount movements and that game has awful feeling mounts.
Endfield's biggest selling point were the story and factory, except the story is dog doodoo, and the factory basically only amounts of making daily currency.
They're both somehow still seen as glorified genshin clones because they don't bring genuinely new and good gameplay to the table.
Ananta needs to understand that slapping performative new features into an open world without depth and flexibility, ie. Gameplay, will not get it an audience.
Endfield gameplay is easily the best we have right now, the issue is that outside of CC there is basically no difficulty so barely any point in engaging with the mechanics. That doesn't make the gameplay bad though.
it depends on what the gameplay even is. We barely even have any idea of what it offers besides a main story and a hodge podge of random shit. Since it's a Netease main title and not Hotta it will defintely be more polished but if the gameplay loop is literally just the gacha one slapped onto a non gacha model like CZN i doubt it would find an audience.
Also I personally think a big thing all these "anime GTA" type games are getting wrong is the lack of the crime aspect. A big appeal of GTA to many is the ability to wreck havoc and fuck around in a "realistic" open world. There's a reason why the early appstore was filled with these shitty mobile GTA clones that was basically just sanbox city games with guns and cars. When you are unable to even attack NPCs or blow up cars it kind of kills the vibe. I'd put Ananta above NTE if driving into pedestrians meant you hit them and didn't just phase through.
dont let this revenue chart fool you , perfect world finencial state that they are making 90 mil+ from july 1st to august 18th , nte is one of those game that we actually know how much it made , and there will be another paper at the end of this month so i expect nte revenue come out on top again.
It depends on whether Ananta can deliver on the hype or of it ends up being surface level. No shade towards NTE but I personally found it to be generic and forgettable.
Srsly, I don't expect anything that game to be successful
High spec if you see ppl cry about wuwa requirements,
and here they ask for more, 3080 recommended, not just existing gacha game, they also compete with AAA
No gacha only focus on skin, what do they expect? That game ain't Honor of Kings nor Mobile Legend that can sell any skin like chips
Nah the skins and lack of gacha aren't the issue. What's gonna happen is a Where Winds Meet situation: huge influx of curious casual players at launch who saw all the "anime GTA" hype, then a huge drop when those casuals go back to GTA 6 after finding out they can't do actual GTA stuff due to Chinese censorship. It's gonna be a small player base left over of ex-NTE players, anime fans that don't like Western violence/sex, and primarily Chinese players that literally can't play GTA 6.
Ananta won't be gacha games, open world games is oversaturated. It's so tiring to play so many open world games, only way to this game just to survive make gacha games non gacha anymore
