Before anyone says this is underwhelming for GI considering two-banners & top-up reset do realise:

  1. Genshin patch released later in September and their prior banner was Flins & Ineffa's second rerun so it wasn't great for the month prior to 7.1
  2. On JP/KR (and some more regions) the prices on iOS are higher
  3. The Top-Up center has extra rewards for each banner since 6.5 globally (except CN) and they've been very heavily promoting it (CCs included)
  4. The PC/PS revenue is significant (it's still rank 1 on the JP PS store)

You forgot to mention and emphasize that Genshin never milk its anniversary. Genshin anniv is far from being a revenue-booster thing.

They reset topups so that people will spend on anni, greedy bastards /j

Honestly, I was kinda dreading a spending event this year after they ramped up spending events in zzz/hsr. I didn’t feel pressured by those, tho UI theme was really tempting. But genshin would’ve gotten me for sure

Jokes on me tho, I definitely spent enough for whatever a spending event would’ve been anyways. the damn fairy was so cute and fun to play that I ended up going pretty deep. And that’s how genshin does it I guess lol who needs a spending event when the banner is already enough incentive to swipe

Some people yes, but for most players who are veteran, I believe they are not fomo anymore to topup straight in 3 days after reset. I believe most of them will just wait till Tsaritsa arrive, especially mid-high spenders.

Whales don't care though, cause it is only 1 time purchase while they already used to topup multiple times.

The only "milk" they do is run both new chars in the same phase. Which is kinda weird they dont do that with nordkrai banner

I just appreciate that by gacha standards Genshin is really tame in terms of monetization. It never throws packs in your face, the shop is quite discreet, no spending event, no "one time only" collab, mostly reasonable powercreep, and an economy that has remained consistent throughout the years so veterans know exactly how to plan their savings.

Genshin approach is really different compared to all the mainstream gacha. Genshin truly "sells itself" by releasing its core contents in high quality consistently and always improving. The true free contents for everyone.

While other gacha-games tweaks the monetization to pull and attract players, Genshin does the opposite, it keeps the monetization "stable" since day 1, so people becomes familiar with the gacha economy, expect nothing more or less from it, cause they know Genshin doesn't tweak or modify the gacha monetization over time.

And so over time, players becomes focusing and even more focusing toward the core contents themselves, which is actually free for everyone, no money stuff involved. Good and bad times, up and downs, they are all about the core video game contents and not about the consistent/stable gacha economy and monetization.
