Just the hubris of thinking you know better than everyone else and they’re so stupid for having a different idea. Spirituality is probably the area people should be most humble about in their beliefs - nobody REALLY knows. Goes for both religious and non-religious folks. Christians comment stupid shit all the time and literally noone cares. Noone ever talks about the 10 million "jesus loves you" comments under anyone who dresses alt anywhere on the internet. Why is there this double standard?
Obviously you shouldnt argue to like grieving families that their faith is bs, but this isnt that at all who gives a damn. Do we not care about truth suddenly just because religion is involved? Nobody calls you cringe if religious beliefs come up and you say you’re an atheist. But that’s usually not the case. As seen in OP’s comment it’s often a snide comment that dismisses the beliefs of other people and implies they are stupid for believing them.
Someone commenting Jesus loves you is not equivalent. The equivalent would be Christians saying snide things about how stupid the idea of evolution is or how gay people are going to hell or something. At which point they definitely get roasted.
Meh, I don't care. Religious people have dominated America and traumatized people since the jump. They tell kids that they're being constantly watched, and that they're at risk of eternal torture 24/7. Pastors and priest child abuse is rampant. They've fought for decades to take away women's bodily autonomy. They use their faith to hate and a lot of people have died because of that hate.
But if you make fun of them even a little bit in come the white knights to defend the assholes who have been duped into fucking all of us over for years. So yes, I'm not going to act like a professional in a scholarly journal when some butthurt sychophant comes at me.
You're doing a very good job of making any atheist look as 30 IQ as you.
