A whole country trying to please their crazy, insane dictator, just so they can live another day. I can’t even imagine what fear they have to experience every single day.

Not just themselves their entire family.

You fuck up bad enough and they kill everybody.

Exactly. “Have you ever watched your family get skinned alive, Joey?”

Sure, that’s a totally sustainable and logically feasible system and definitely not propaganda

So you're saying for sure that's it's not threatened and that it had definitely never happened?

It sounds very unlikely. And even if it were true, after the shit NK has been through, I’d give it a free pass on pretty much anything short of genocide

You will not find kindness defending this point around here, unfortunately. Reddit liberals would rather feel morally superior dunking on the regime of a country that was bombed to damn near mental oblivion and defended their territory against multiple invaders.

Yes the DPRK has a history of violent reprisal and repressing individual rights, severely.

They literally could not kill everyone the western world acts like they could, and still be growing at the rate they are. At the end of the day, it’s internalized racism and Western-exceptionalism, and the people who talk shit about the DPRK do it as a security blanket that “at least we aren’t them”.

Literal child brained behavior.

Sometimes you don't need propaganda.

I've read autobiographies by North Korean refugees. They had a lot of anti-US propaganda growing up. Every single bit of propaganda about the United States was factually, verifiably true.

No reason it can't be the other way around.

North Korea isn't important enough to go to the effort to make up propaganda about it any more.

Nearly all of the time North Korean defectors give very cartoonishly exaggerated stories with no evidence so I’m inclined to not believe them
