A whole country trying to please their crazy, insane dictator, just so they can live another day. I can’t even imagine what fear they have to experience every single day.

Imo, the spookiest part of modern regimes (and historical) is mostly the social pressure of the masses as a whole

There aren’t really armies with enough willpower to take insurgencies that don’t want to be taken, but it’s for sure going to be a witch hunt if you break a superstition or the neighborhood sells you out
