Has anyone ever really REALLY thought that? The concept of Republicans caring about people as a whole is diametrically opposed to everything they campaign on in every election.
There was a shift in Republican Party ethos after Lincoln freed the slaves. The party, generally, felt it was a mistake because of the Civil War and long term after effects, and felt the fed had impinged on states rights too
Much. They’re been riding that paranoia ever since.
Which is crazy because how do they stay rich if they break everything? If America collapses, which seems to be the goal, then how will their dollars matter anymore?
Why teach how to fish when you can damn the seas to constrain supply, fatten up those points on the dollar, why when their is nothing else left you can charge infinity dollars and they'll have to pay you to eat.

Dems will take the house in November and with it they will control the purse strings. First thing they can do is defund this project.
Let's see if they do or if they are just token opposition beholden the same special interests.
