I'm sure this got 1000x the amount of views because of his failure. It isn't really seeking clout when a crowd is laughing at your stupidity.

Sure, but engagement and views are engagement and views

Doesn't matter. Do you see how many people got famous for doing stupid and dumb shit?

Why not? There are many tubers who make a living as lolcows.

Many people are fucking stupid and just follow whatever impulse that smooth hunk of meat between their ears commands

He's filming it. It's not impulse, he just wants attention.

Wanting the attention is an impulse and he's following it through

It's not an impulse when it's driven by money.

u/AntTheMighty 3h ago

That's fair. I always think of acting on impulse as having a much shorter delay between the thought and the action.

Impulse means he would just do it on the spot whenever his brain commanded him to, regardless of the camera.

Him going out of his way to set up his phone, adjust the angle, and hit record BEFORE GOING BACK TO LYING DOWN AGAIN is not impulsive.

He literally just went back to lying down as a setup for the video before doing whatever he was going to do. That's the opposite of being impulsive, if anything.

Impulsive means the idea lacks proper foresight, consideration, or planning, not necessarily that it happened quickly.

Just because his impulsive decision involved a few steps and didn't happen the second it crossed his mind doesn't mean it wasn't impulsive. For example, it's possible to impulsively decide to travel somewhere. But that decision often involves multiple days, even on an impulse.

She might have been if he had succeeded.

The guy studied the probabilities of success and the possible outcome (scoring), and made a decision to give it a shot

How are you doing your warmup?

I knew a cute woman would be involved. The painting was on the wall. Dentist office. Guy trying to show off. Chance was like 80% from that point.
