Damn near certain that over 95% of the people complaining about HSR still play it daily

209

u/Thick-Paramedic-7528 5h ago

because HSR is the true traditional gacha like FGO its quick and doesnt require much stuff even if many people say they hate it

116

u/joobroob98 4h ago

>doesn’t require much stuff

HSR fans after performing 1/1000th of the resource grind of an FGO fan

65

u/Icy-Minute-6738 4h ago

FGO retain their playerbase because of an 3rd party auto farming app never stop being funny.

•

u/JustARedditAccoumt 2h ago

That app is Android-only; iOS users get to grind manually.

•

u/Thick-Paramedic-7528 3h ago

FGA will forever be the goat

•

u/NeoBasilisk 44m ago

I've been playing FGO since launch and never used any kind of automation tools

•

u/MaimedJester 9m ago

How's your class scores looking?

500 Golden Statues for each class,  and then probably another 150 for the extra classes.

If you've got the loop down, and are going to use the apples then just set up FGA and one night clear out whatever you're gonna farm. Watch an entire season of a fate anime and come back to 500 million QP or whatever from treasure vault runs.

It's not like any built account has any trouble clearing farm maps,  at least until Grand Hardest Difficulty farming and that's just because of class specific limitations,  not exactly any meta Lancers known for farm buffers.

If you can 3 turn the Kazuradrop Event 90++ node..  why bother directly playing it... 200 times yourself doing the exact same 15 button presses in a row?

Hell if you're farming with Ciel and Summer BB like I am, there's not even much RNG left in the game. Just if the starting crit card is 90% or 100%

Even then i think if my extra class 1 score got higher that would be 100% all the time.

•

u/JustARedditAccoumt 2h ago

Eh, if you do a few lottos, you're (mostly) OK.

•

u/Xaldror Loves Raikou's "Ara Ara" 2h ago

Honestly, I think FGO requires less grind, because we just need what is essentially a Bill of Materials to upgrade our servants.

HSR characters require specific sets with specific stats in particular alignments to be good.

•

u/ARGHETH Epic Seven 53m ago

Okay, but you need to manually do everything unless you use a third party, Android-only app. That makes FGO more grindy basically by default.

•

u/RoughInBed 10m ago

I kinda disagree in a weird way. Simply due to old unit still being viable…I don’t know how to describe it.

Like I can clear the end game content with my year 1 unit in FGO since the buff happens often enough and the equipment is universal. However in HSR I have to PRAY for Novaflare or a unit that can support the DPS and in the latter I have to grind for equipments again which is way worse since you can waste time autoing and achieve nothing for several DAYS just for semi decent foot and chest piece.

•

u/Skneet 2h ago

Fgo is grindier, but content can be cleared even with mid investment.

FGO doesnt really have super hard content, only the new monthly one in JP and the Grand Servant ones (where you can borrow a whale and just 1-turn clear it lmao). I dont play much but the best units in the game rn are pretty much overkill vs the content the game has

The reverse is true with HSR, the grind is easy but optimization is hard because of relics. The banners have guarantees so a daily login player could roughly pull at the very least 1 new unit every 2 patches. And endgames require skill in terms of game knowledge and planning, min-maxing etc. Being a mid-spender can make you skip some of the optimization part, but I guess thats the main revenue draw

•

u/JaegerJaquez25 2h ago

Tbh relic farming is just as bad, if not worse than mats in FGO

8

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 5h ago

And yet, FGO still puts its revenue toward new anime for the Fate franchise. God only knows where HSR’s money goes. I would’ve believed it went into HNA, but that game is just as much of a low-effort asset reuse slop as HSR

25

u/Thick-Paramedic-7528 5h ago

It goes into dawei’s power plant that is used for his ai data center

7

u/DevolayS Genshin Impact 4h ago

Considering how much cool stuff is happening in Genshin since Nod-Krai, genshin is my bet haha

•

u/VIIsor 3h ago

Pretty sure genshin with its revenue don't even care about HSR or ZZZ money.

6

u/Long-Condition-5119 4h ago

Obviously go towards Dawei's beloved HI3 and GGZ.

•

u/Fluid-Sort-7699 3h ago

A part of the revenue if I go by how inconsistent fate anime quality is. Most it to all shareholders who put money into the franchise and copyright IP.

•

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 3h ago

In reality, everything is much simpler. Some Japanese animation studios just have a lot of issues with overwork and low salaries, which is why some series come out with not-so-good quality. And unfortunately, they can't just hand everything over to Ufotable, because they already have a ton of work

•

u/TYGeelo CZN | ZZZ | SwordxStaff | Battle Cats 2h ago

Lol...this subreddit is so ignorant

1

u/satufa2 5h ago

Is it? I droped it partly because i started having a herd time keeping up with the content (and frankly it wasn't even good).

I mean yeah, the daily stuff is fast and braindead but i never had a problem with that part in any game.

15

u/PatheticAndTragic HSR 5h ago

Main story for Amphoreus was pretty long, otherwise everything is pretty quick

What do you play now that you feel like you can keep up easier compared to HSR?

3

u/YukarinVal 5h ago

Hi, different person, but I also dropped HSR not because of the dailies. Pretty early on. I just can't deal with how wordy yet empty the dialogue is. Somehow if you give me a world to walk around and NPCs to talk to I will have to. And boy oh boy are they saying a lot and nothing at the same time, was my impression.

Now I just play NIKKE for the plot and plot. I think I started near half anni.

-2

u/satufa2 5h ago

It's not just the length but the length combined with me just not enjoying it. By that point, there was basically n part of HSR other than the personality of the characters that enjoyed.

I pushed though Penacony for the story alone but by Amphorious, i was strugling to get through that too and it got longer aswell.

Whatever. My point is that obviously those who coplain about the HSR of today likely play the game. I literally can't complain about it because o have no clue what's it even like right now. Sure there must be some of the Tectone type wierd obsessive people who follow everything about a game they don't even play but that's not normal.

56

u/raffirusydi_ 4h ago edited 4h ago

Can't tell you how many youtube or tiktok videos i saw that said people are quitting the game. I guess minority really are the loudest

•

u/MaleficentNobody100 Input a Game 3h ago

Always is

•

u/Skneet 2h ago

The thing is those who quit probably dont spend that much in the game hence no loss in revenue.

People who spend monthly jades/BP can easily get 1 new character per patch, while smarter players can save for new character/dupes to improve their team. So my crackhead theory on this one is that hoyo adjusts powercreep relative to what monthly jades/BP buyers should be able to clear because thats the playerbase they cater to.

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 3h ago

When I ask them what the problem is in those videos, I never get a proper reply. They don't know what they want from the story, they complain about characters not getting enough time yet want new new new every month, etc. While I definitely agree that the events have sucked and been very little, 4.x has been Star Rail at its best in story department for me.

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 3h ago

Here's a clear answer:

Endgame enemies doubling in HP every 2 months is bad

Having teams being formed by all five star limited characters or a steep dropoff if you substitute four or unoptimal characters is bad.

The story having no real stakes, very poor build up, being hyper shounen coded, being hyper verbose is simply bad writing. Himeko alter comes in seemingly out of the blue to spew some cool lines, okay?

The game having not evolved at all on the turn based gameplay front for 5 years is bad. When you strip away the final fantasy summon animations, HSR is still the shallower than an oil slick turn based game it came out as. The entire gameplay still only centres on gaming the turn table, there is still no even basic features like wait a turn or defend for a turn or team positioning mechanics or atb mechanics.

You shouldn't need someone to explain these things to you if you actually play the game. Just say you are okay with all of the above, very obvious problems, and move on.

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 2h ago

Okay, so it's a matter of your expectations being out of tune.

Endgame I agree with, but that's miniscule compared to other more important parts of the game which would be midcore and the casual area.

The battle system is never expected to have sweeping changes, that is completely unrealistic. It will also always be in this simple and shallow state due to the primary userbase that engages with it. It's not meant to be Persona or the Kiseki games. Their focus should be introducing fun gimmicks within the characters which we have seen with Himeko or Silver Wolf.

Yeah, so again, you don't know what you want from the story nor have any idea what you're talking about, lol. The story has plenty of stakes, especially for what you'd expect of Star Rail which has stayed consistent with the tone it's gone for and MHY has stated explicitly the kind of tone they want. Not to mention, as a live service game, it's perfectly in line with that.

4.x has had a strong build up and vastly improved how they handled antagonists and took their time. Fullwish and Asat Pramad were not rushed through at all and they learned from the overly poetic diatribe that plagued Amphoreus alongside not making it too obvious the banner characters are forced highlights. They also improved significantly on making sure patch characters don't disappear after the banner is over. Himeko Alter did not "come out of the blue" it was based around Planarcadia's wishpower concept and your Stellaron that's housed within you. Asat explains it quite clearly that the one in your body differs from the Stellaron that comes from Xipe and acts based on your actions.

You shouldn't need someone to explain these things to you if you actually play the game. Just say you didn't pay attention to the story.

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

And here we have an example of why HSR still makes money despite delivering a very substandard product.

Some people genuinely enjoy the taste of trash. 🥲

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 2h ago

You didn't pay attention to the story, I called you out on it. I even agreed with you in one aspect and explained that what you want won't be in a gacha game generally, but okay. You and your ego can take a hike.

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

Whatever you have to tell yourself. By the way my mouth or body didn't move at all when I said that. 😂

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 2h ago

Yawn. When you're ready to given actual rebuttal, let me know.

•

u/fipseqw 1h ago

Not everybody can be a cultured person like you.

•

u/gale99 2h ago

Having teams being formed by all five star limited characters

Rmb when HSR players were shit slinging that Genshin has low pull income? That's the trade off. That's why veterans keep telling them the "generosity" comes at a price

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

I was saying that since Penacony and I was, am still being downvoted for it. I love watching a stupid player get exactly what they deserve.

•

u/Visual_Historian6180 2h ago

As long as the game is this profitable, no big changes will be made. From the deluge of “everyone is quitting hsr” content in my feed, you would think its at least not in the top 3 but look at that, revenue actually increased lol

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

HSR lost 40% of its revenue from the same cycle last year. Its decline is catastrophic.

And don't think you don't see me shifting goalposts right in front of me like I'm blind.

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 2h ago

It is not "catastrophic" that's just exaggerating it because it's a standard year on year trend. Also, what are you talking about? 40%?

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

HSR went from 420 million revenue down to 266 over the same span since last year.

•

u/sirbucelotte 2h ago

Are you talking about sensortower calculations?

Which they changed since last year which made every gacha in the list drop its revenue? As sensortower never made accurate numbers and are used as trending metrics only?

•

u/Katicflis1 1h ago

Theres no doubt HSR revenue went down a chunk but some of that is releasing 3 less characters this region.

At the end of the day non push banners went from ranks 5-17 to 7-24. Not the end of the world. This isnt like ZZZ going from 10s-30s in the first half of 2025 to 30s-115 in 2026.

•

u/Visual_Historian6180 2h ago

I dont play the game, quit after acheron release. And everybodys revenue declined from last year. Hsr is number 3 in revenue and youre still calling it “catastrophic” hahaha. Let me give you a piece of advice: quit. That game is shit, was shit and will always be shit. Its not going to change no matter how many “everyone is quitting” yt videos you watch cause its still raking millions and always among the most profitable. Hoyos not going to change the formula, period

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 2h ago

? Genshin revenue went up by 20 million since last year. 😂

•

u/Visual_Historian6180 2h ago

Yes, and among the big ones only genshin. On the szechnaya (or however its written) patch, which is the culmination of like 7 years of story and after a kind of weak year from what ive heard.

Again, hsr is still top 3 my guy. If rev declined year on year, it did so less than the market cause thats how math works. You cant fight numbers and as long as hsr is at the top of the charts, its not going to change. If you are disatisfied with the direction of the game, drop all hope of it changing course and find a new game like i did

•

u/TamakisBelly Delete Male Banners & FeMC 19m ago

Genshin also has fallen year over year. It’s nothing bad, just a natural decline.

•

u/sirbucelotte 2h ago

That game is shit, was shit and will always be shit.

I dont play the game, quit after acheron release.

lol of course

5

u/maxdragonxiii 4h ago edited 20m ago

I do want HSR to improve dont get me wrong. but dailies are so simple and easy its sometimes the only thing that keeps me playing unlike Wuthering Waves, because you cant skip farming or playing with dodging.

12

u/hitmobilegamehsr 4h ago

It's like those Genshin boycotts around Natlan where many twitter accounts would yap daily about boycotting, but then post their pulls next day lmao

22

u/Azitzin 5h ago

*pay it daily

12

u/Xlegace Genshin|HSR|ZZZ|Wuwa|FGO 5h ago

*don't pay a dime and the ones that do stay silent

•

u/ARGHETH Epic Seven 2h ago

HSR has quite literally no competition, it’s kinda funny. I don’t think there’s another 3d turn based game on the list, and not a lot of ones that you can play this casually as a side game.

•

u/tyranthym 1h ago

the truth is something reddit losers never believe : HSR is still an extremely successful game. It is too hard to beat it. If the game is that bad and easy to be copied there will be tons of competitors show up. I hope one day there is a real competitor shows up so those losers can finally leave HSR. it is so annoying

•

u/bumblebyOfficial 1h ago

I hope one day there is a real competitor so that hoyo actually starts putting money and effort into the game like they were forced to with Genshin when its competitors showed up.

Of course this comment could just be summed up with white text over a black screen, fading into the main character putting their hand over their chest.

8

u/FemmEllie 5h ago

I mean if you’ve already dropped the game I don’t see why you’d even bother to engage with it anymore anyway so that makes sense to me

19

u/Xlegace Genshin|HSR|ZZZ|Wuwa|FGO 5h ago

You need to spend more time on gachatwt lol (jk don't)

There are losers that hatewatch games they already quit so they can talk shit and fan the flames whenever there's a commotion

•

u/pikachusalad 3h ago

its actually absurd how much people out there that do this shit. Entire accounts dedicated to hating a game they proudly don’t play anymore, posting multiple times a day about how they hate everything new about the game. Im seeing them on tiktok now too

Most redditors dont know the true depths of gacha tribalism hell.

•

u/helpmeobiwont 2h ago

People complain about HSR, but those of us who are online enough to complain are well aware that 4.x got knocked off-course for CCP reasons. I think a lot of people are hanging on until 5.x (which will allegedly revive old team archetypes) to see where things are really headed.

•

u/Chez225 1h ago

Probably going to get tarred and featherd for saying it, but it might be time to accept we're in an echo chamber lol. The Aha banner is going to be hilarious too.

7

u/one1cookie 5h ago

Of course why do you think we're complaining lmao?

•

u/ThirdRebirth Golshi 3h ago

Feels good being a 5%er what can I say man.

•

u/Vaiolette-Westover 3h ago

They complain because they care about it, it's when they stop complaining that mihoyo should feel terrified.

HSR is very close to people giving up en masse I think.

•

u/batenkaitos77 1h ago

I complain about it but still play it, but at least I stopped spending 6 months ago. I don't really have much hope for the future (powercreep, shilling, possible paid buffs on the horizon), but I still have fun with it for now.

•

u/ToastedDreamer 1h ago

I don’t play much anymore, not after picking up an mmorpg and watching my Phainon team do less and less in a very short time span

•

u/yan_yanns 1h ago

Half the time the people loudly complaining arent spending as much money as the average casual player

•

u/3stoner 3h ago

that's pretty much true for most live service games and it's especially true for gacha, stockholm syndrome for years yet still getting their fix lol

•

u/PalapaSlap 2h ago

I haven't played it in two years cause it disappointed me a lot but I just don't talk about it

•

u/Blobsobb 2h ago

Considering the main sub will have complaint threads where the OP will say they quit the game months ago.

No, the people complaining dont play anymore but still want to scream about it in the most annoying and usually incorrect way possible.

Nah. As with most games, those happily playing them are not posting angrily online.

See Genshin Impact doomposters lmao.

-21

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 5h ago

I mean Genshin revenue has dropped significantly compared to where it was a few years ago. Remember when this game used to pull in over $100 million a month single-handedly? Now, even combined with HSR, they barely hit that number. There’s still a toxically positive part of the playerbase that’s willing to pay for literally anything in Genshin and HSR, but the falling revenue for both games speaks for itself.

28

u/Rosha13265 5h ago

lI would argue that says more about the global economy than anything else. People want to save their money now.

7

u/LongjumpingAd2274 4h ago

Also every game has been dropping their earnings for quite some time. Especially due to the raise of oil due to geopolitical turn of events.

I am wondering how next year will be like.

-13

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 5h ago

If people wanted to save money, they wouldn't be spending hundreds of millions (and major gachas obviously make hundreds of millions across all platforms) a month on some gacha nonsense

23

u/Xlegace Genshin|HSR|ZZZ|Wuwa|FGO 5h ago

And those people did... Which is why the revenue for all games dropped

Genshin is still at the top because it has the most people left who didn't have to cut their spending

9

u/CornerEmotional69 5h ago

Genshin has already crossed over a billion in revenue this year across all platforms btw. It will cross 1.5 billion after the year is done

-4

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 4h ago

And it's still less than what they had before

11

u/WeHaveCookiesBro 4h ago

still doesn't mean a whole lot. NO game that's several years old makes the same revenue consistently today that it did when it was in its early release era and such. go ahead and show the class which games DON'T fall into that category.

you are making the most obvious observation of what happens to any on going game after running for several years and acting like it somehow proves something about the game itself.

8

u/LongjumpingAd2274 4h ago

Agenda posting is down the street my dude.

-2

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 4h ago

No, the agenda is right where it belongs: in a subreddit full of clowns celebrating other people earnings

•

u/LongjumpingAd2274 1h ago

Says the guy who is angry his game isn't even on top 10 and has 40 comments on this very same thread downplaying the rest of the games here.

https://giphy.com/gifs/n1qrZkwr4Fcj51XAQi

•

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 1h ago

Your favorite HSR made a lot of money, but the quality was trash and will stay trash, but you can go ahead and celebrate it lol

•

u/CornerEmotional69 1h ago

It earns 3x more than wuwa across all platforms btw. So if it's bad for genshin then it must be muds for wuwa by your logic

6

u/HopeCold1650 5h ago

We also don't know how much of that is migration to the top up website since they have went very hard with the promotion of it.

It's also the only big gacha that has gone up in revenue in the last year.

1

u/Particular_Web3215 Jenshin | Limbus 4h ago

the longest declining road is Mt Everest and Genshin Impact

7

u/speganomad 5h ago

Okay but genshin is actually genuinely in a much better place overall than it was during that time period or at bare minimum equal. We got some powercreep but way more to do and quality of life in exchange so it kinda evens out. The game is just old and long af so pulling new players is insanely hard so as people drop out for a variety of reasons it’s just hard to replace them.

1

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 5h ago

Many people left in the first place because the game didn't improve for a long time. I agree that for the past few years the game has felt better than before, but it's unlikely to bring back the players who already left

2

u/Particular_Web3215 Jenshin | Limbus 4h ago

genshin has actually increased in yearly revenue post fontaine. obviously no more raiden debut types of high, but it remaining stable while everyone else falls is an acheivement of its own

28

u/Legendary-Fleshbeast 5h ago

if HSR adds paywalled character buffs in the next patch

You: "I want to spread unverified leak information EVERYWHERE on the internet so that even people who don't look at leak subs are forced to absorb information from leakers who caused a similar shit show over at ZZZ because they're clout chasers that don't care about how accurate their leaks are."

HSR players would find some self-respect and stop throwing money at the game?

People literally play 100% AI games and games with 3 million VIP tiers, mandatory PVP, and power that you can buy. If you think this is the bottom of the barrel you REALLY haven't seen how shitty gacha can be. And for that matter how shitty MMO's can be.

-2

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 5h ago

HSR players and their lack of reading comprehension. I literally said "IF".

People literally play 100% AI games and games with 3 million VIP tiers, mandatory PVP, and power that you can buy. If you think this is the bottom of the barrel you REALLY haven't seen how shitty gacha can be. And for that matter how shitty MMO's can be.

I mean, just because shitty browser games exist doesn't make HSR any better, especially considering how many marketing gimmicks and monetization-shit (like chimeras gacha) they've been adding lately.

•

u/Kitchen-Resource-676 3h ago

they give 24 pets for free

Oh wow, how generous.

brave yourself and quit game to show your manner

i quit the game since 4.5, u know. Because I'm sick of this dogshit, low-effort content and the devs absolute lack of care, despite making that kind of money. Even Genshin, for all its flaws, has started to improve. HSR, on the other hand, only "improves" when it comes to shitty, manipulative monetization mechanics.
That's why it's even funnier to me how HSR players who hate ZZZ end up throwing money at HSR, only for that cash to go anywhere else but back into HSR

•

I literally said "IF".

Yeah dude. You and every other person like you plays coy.

"Tee hee I didn't just reveal leak information everywhere! Look! I have plausible deniability! I totally didn't disclose something nobody would know if they didn't follow leaks"

Don't leak stuff everywhere on the internet. ESPECIALLY unverified leaks. People get angry or disappointed over stuff that ends up never happening just because leakers want to clout chase. They did the same thing over on ZZZ with the "paid buffs" controversy that ended up being a nothing burger. It's basically a rerun of every time Genshin/WuWa players expect a selector that never materializes because people can't shut up about leaks in non leak channels.

I mean, just because shitty browser games exist

Thank you for rewriting gacha history to suit your narrative. And also I like the fact that the things you dislike must definitely be browser games.

monetization-shit (like chimeras gacha)

This is the only new monetization and it's literally divorced from any story or gameplay content. It's essentially a shittier and less impactful version of what Genshin is doing. The only difference is the fact that most people are visiting anyone's worlds to see their chimera because nobody cares about HSR pets that much.

I don’t know how people even have the time with how much rng grinding is in the game. I finally broke free a while ago, there’s way better games that respect your time.
