I've been in Bangalore for almost 2 years now, but if I'm being honest, most of that time has been work → home → repeat. Life has changed quite a bit recently, and I'm realizing I'd actually like to build a proper social circle here rather than just knowing people.

I'm not looking for a huge group or a forced networking situation. More like a few genuine friendships where talking regularly and making random plans eventually becomes normal.

A little about me:

• 🎮 Gaming — single-player stuff + FPS
• 🍳 Amateur cooking — emphasis on amateur
• 🏋️ Gym + occasional swimming
• ✈️ I love traveling and have been to almost every state in India in some capacity — sometimes even if I technically just passed through
• 🚗 Weekend trips and exploring places around BLR
• ☕ Tea, cafes and conversations that somehow turn into 2-hour conversations

I'm pretty comfortable with platonic friendships across genders and have had close female friends before, so there's no hidden dating agenda here. I genuinely enjoy conversations where you can talk about work, life, random nonsense, or something that's been on your mind without everything having to become romantic.

I'm also more of a low-pressure, one-on-one or small-group person than a loud-party-every-weekend person.

So if you're also at that stage of life where you have people around you but somehow don't have enough people to casually text “chai?” or “want to go somewhere this weekend?”, say hi.

Could start with a small group, coffee/chai, a movie, a game, or whatever feels comfortable. If we vibe, great. If not, no awkwardness.

I'm making a mobile flight simulator for iOS and was keen to know: which controllers do you hook up to your iPhone to play games? I'd be keen to add support for them

I got some flat sawn sapele for like $2/bd ft from a guy cleaning out his shop so I started building the sides for a dresser. I then came across another batch of wide rift/quartered sapele at a good price (with all the stripey goodness 🤩). Now I'm looking at the plain sawn stuff and wishing I'd used the striped rift/quartersawn material for everything, but then again the sides of the dresser won't really be seen where it's going so I could still use the rift/quartersawn for the top and drawer fronts.

How do you manage this sort of stuff in your work? The differences between plain/rift/quartersawn pieces are more obvious in stuff like sapele, white oak etc so are you more picky about material selection using these materials? I'm curious how other folks are handling these decisions.

Thanks!

One thing I've noticed with smaller cyber cafes is that the problem isn't always the amount of work. Many operators simply don't have the right tools, APIs, technical knowledge, or workflows to do some online tasks efficiently.

They often have to search Google for different tools, use multiple websites, remember different processes, or manually figure out how to get a particular document or result.

That's one of the problems I'm trying to solve with CyberCafeAI.

The idea is to bring useful tools, guided workflows and automation into one platform.

For example, depending on what is legally and technically available for a particular service, I'm looking at workflows/tools around things like:

- PAN-related information and services

- Aadhaar-related services and permitted workflows

- RC / vehicle document lookup and PDF retrieval

- Driving Licence-related services and document retrieval

- GST services

- ITR / Income Tax services

- MSME registration

- RTO-related services

- Government forms and applications

- Document processing

- PDF utilities

- Passport photo tools

- Customer/application tracking

- Payment tracking

- WhatsApp notifications

- Secure document delivery

The bigger part is automation.

Instead of the operator manually doing every step, the idea is:

Enter customer details → select the required service → CyberCafeAI performs the available workflow in the background → operator gets the result.

Where browser automation or an official/authorized API is available, the system can handle the repetitive steps. If a portal temporarily fails or times out, the task can retry instead of the operator having to sit there refreshing the page and starting over.

This is especially useful for small cyber cafes where it's often the owner + one helper. They don't necessarily have the technical knowledge, paid tools, APIs, or time to figure out every new online service themselves.

I'm also including common free utilities under the same platform. Things like PDF tools and passport photo tools aren't meant to be revolutionary — they're there because I want an operator to have the everyday tools they need in one place instead of 20 bookmarks.

So the overall idea is less:

"Here's another CRM for your cyber cafe."

And more:

"Here's a digital toolbox + automation layer that helps you actually get the work done."

I'm still building it, and I'm particularly interested in feedback from people who actually run cyber cafes, Jan Seva Kendras, CSCs, online service centres, or similar businesses in India.

If you run one or have visited:

What task do you struggle with because you don't have the right tool or technical knowledge?

Which online service takes much longer than it should?

What would you love to simply enter once and let the system handle?

And if you think this idea is unrealistic, I'd genuinely like to know why.

Damn, I was gonna pick up the lord of hatred DLC. You guys think it'll go on sale maybe in a few days or?

Hello, online friends 👋

Just reaching out to know if any of you work at a company (or know of) where they hire data analysts or somewhat related positions?

I’m a fresh postgraduate with a degree in statistical data analysis and modelling. My training covered all sorts of practical topics, such as econometrics, regression, time series, multivariate statistics and methods, clustering, classification, hypothesis testing, machine-learning, etc. A toolkit that sounds a bit abstract but can be useful in so many real-world scenarios 🥲

My thesis dealt with creating a full machine-learning pipeline to identify and reconcile duplicate data among online housing datasets. I’m very familiar with Python and R, and I also have experience in compiling code into working web applications. I’m good at mining and transforming data through pipelines to achieve all sorts of informational and analytical outcomes.

My key weakness: I have little work experience in the field 🥹 So far, it’s the time of the year when companies are planning for future hiring, so it’s not going crazy thus far.

Anywho, any tips are always appreciated 💪

Cheers 🍻

I don’t know much about Pokemon, I just like to catch cute creatures, does this mean it’s a 100%? Like when the badge turns pink?
