Ich bin selbst Millennial und spreche fließend Englisch, für meine Alterskohorte vielleicht etwas ungewöhnlicher als Gen Z. Ich habe schon relativ früh englische Inhalte konsumiert, arbeite beruflich auf Englisch und habe außerdem einige Jahre in Tulsa, OK gelebt. Gerade deshalb benutze ich im Deutschen so gut wie kein Denglisch. Wenn ich Deutsch spreche, spreche ich Deutsch. Wenn ich Englisch spreche, spreche ich Englisch.

Was mich besonders stört, sind Wörter wie „literally“, „basically“ oder „actually“, die ständig in deutsche Sätze eingebaut werden, häufig nicht einmal in ihrer korrekten englischen Bedeutung. Dann wird aus einem englischen Wort plötzlich ein Füllwort, das ungefähr alles und gleichzeitig nichts bedeutet. Und nein, das hat für mich wenig mit normalem Sprachwandel zu tun. Sprachwandel bedeutet, dass Sprachen sich verändern und neue Wörter aufnehmen. Wenn aber englische Begriffe lediglich als vermeintlich cooler Ersatz für vorhandene deutsche Wörter dienen, ist das etwas anderes.

Besonders befremdlich finde ich diesen künstlich wirkenden, übernasalen und affektierten Gen-Z-Sprech. Das wirkt ungebildet, nicht international oder besonders sprachgewandt. Je stärker man zwei Sprachen permanent vermischt, obwohl man sich problemlos in einer von ihnen ausdrücken könnte, zeigt dass man in beiden Sprachen absolut scheiße ist.

Nachtrag wegen des hohen Zuspruchs:

Cool, Millennial und Co. sind im Deutschen etablierte Lehnwörter. Sie stammen zwar ursprünglich aus dem Englischen, sind aber längst Teil des deutschen Wortschatzes. Genau darum geht es: Das sind etablierte Lehnwörter, für die wir entweder keine wirklich gebräuchliche deutsche Entsprechung haben oder deren deutsche Version wir schlicht nicht verwenden. Das ist etwas völlig anderes als „literally“, „basically“ und „cringe“, die einfach vorsätzlich durch englische Begriffe ersetzt werden, als bedeutungslose Füllwörter oder um maximal prätentiös zu wirken.

I recently found out my 32m brother is dating a girl who is 20f.

This has really been bothering me. I have my own trauma with my brother and this is reaffirming my negative feelings towards him.

I feel like it is predatory to date a girl so young. They are in completely different stages of life. He is a fully grown man with a well-paying career and a house and has lived independently for over a decade. This girl still lives with her parents and is in school.

He mentioned once years ago he is a fan if Andrew Tate. I keep thinking of how Tate and other far right men in that sphere talk about young girls. They blatantly go after young girls and admit it is because they are less experienced and easier to manipulate. I keep thinking of this and I feel sick knowing my brother is now dating a very young girl.

I feel like my parents will not say anything negative to him about it as they let so much of what he does slip under the rug. The whole thing just makes me feel gross and I feel so bad for the girl.

Sup! I'm looking for something similar to Mushoku Tensei, or something with a protagonist like Rudeus.

Trespassing is being on someone's land illegally. Now it's evolved to mean the act of removing someone for trespassing, such as, "they trespassed him for his bad behavior.".

Sometimes the removal from someone's land isn't even for trespassing, it's a removal of a person who was somewhere legally but just acting poorly.

I don’t understand why people get upset when someone chooses their pet over a stranger. I guess, I can see the take of “human lives are valuable” but let’s be for real here, not all human life is valuable. Why would I choose to save a stranger vs a valued member of our family? Why would I choose to deal with my family being upset for days because we lost a member of our family. Yeah…. No. Sorry not sorry. I love my family to much to watch them sit in sadness, when their are happy I’m happy.

Why?

Both Deadlock and Overwatch are releasing a new black character with PEAK designs this month (yes ow2 character with a good design, insane sentence) meanwhile rivals’ last black character release was more than a year ago.

Now I’m not feeding into that “ netease is racist “ topic, but we still need more black people ( and other minorities that aren’t asian ) love in this game.

Also this is not glaze to Blizzard or Valve. Because Blizzard neglects their black characters the same or maybe even worse than Netease. Meanwhile, in deadlock, black characters : Calico and Wraith, are criminals and Sinclair (a black couple ) is trapped in a WHITE mannequin.
( obviously a joke if you can’t tell that they clearly aren’t finished )

I was talking with the fever fan. I said well Caitlin Clark told a fan to “shut the f up” wow in Las Vegas, which breaks the no space for hate rule. Yes, I think Aja broke the rule. But so did Caitlin Clark and those fans won’t see that at all and it’s actually terrible

My other problem is they think that Caitlin is the best in the league , she’s top 5 maybe but to say she’s the best is like saying “I know nothing about the wnba” and it’s sad they only watch the fever and don’t enjoy all the amazing women that play the sport

This isn’t to undermine the greatness of Caitlin but I think it’s just silly to say she’s the greatest or favor her in situations that happen where both clearly are in the wrong , the fever are a great team I don’t hate the team or Clark but I hate the fanbase that is cultlike that follows her

I really didn't wanted to play Arc Raiders at first, it just looked like another basic mainstream title. But the more I saw of it, the more interested I was, and once I got the game, I had a blast for months. But slowly the game has been shifting into something I really don't think is for me.

I have so many memorable matches of me talking someone out of a fight, making a deal with other players to take down an extract camper with powerful weapons, tense meetings in extract where nobody wants to press the button and dance parties after killing a queen AND a sniping rodent. It really felt like a game like no other where players you meet made every match feel unique and tense.

But now, it no longer feels like a PvPvE game. It's a PvE game OR a PvP game. I like to be friendly, but I still want people to attack me from time to time to make games unpredictable. But slowly I always find myself in carebare lobbies, specialy since now self defense dosent count towards ABMM.

Now, after expedition, I managed enough to save for a deadline to kill a bastion and get my gear bench 3. But as soon as I did, some came and decided to just start looting. I asked them to stop, gave two warning shots to the ground, and eventualy shot the guy once. He ran away calling me a rat, throwing 3 snitch scanners at me. I cleared the arc and continued to loot, and he started to snipe me from afar. So I tracked him down and killed him.

Great, now I'll go into some mixed lobbies right? No, straight into shoot on sight zero comunication lobbies for the rest of the day until I'm back into zero communication friendly lobbies. And that just kills me, either I hear gunfire and flares from the moment I load in, or I don't, and I don't have to worry. All the uncertiaty that made games unique and memorable is gone. Not only that, since people know how matchmaking works, they rarely talk, since they already know if the lobby is PvP or PvE, there is no need to comunicate or parley.

And now with the new PvE event around the corner further separating the players into either PvP or PvE instead of a mix, and seeing people in this sub talk to anyone who dosen't want to be 100% friendly all the time as if they were the scum of the earth, I think that the game has become something that is not for me. And that's just really sad...

I work at a sports bar, & have been here for just over 3 years now. Since the beginning, ive had this family of regulars come in multiple times, & every single time i have them, they work me ragged, & then NEVER tip. They have even flaunted the idea of tipping me TO ME, & STILL left nothing. & it makes no sense, because every time I have them, they eat me up, & tell me how great of a server I am & how attentive I am. Yet they NEVER tip me. So at this point, whenever they come in & sit in my section, I let my manager know they are there, & that I am refusing service. I never have said it TO THE CUSTOMERS, just my manager. The manager is understanding, & another server does typically pick it up, but then THEY are also stiffed in the end.

I guess my real question is, is it wrong to refuse service to a customer if I know 100% they will over work me with no tip? Can I TELL them that?? & if so, wtf do i say??

There are tons of spaces (here and elsewhere) that normalize misandry yet I rarely hear people complain about it. Even on popular subreddits like [r/popculturechat](r/popculturechat), [r/Fauxmoi](r/Fauxmoi), and [r/twoxchromosomes](r/twoxchromosomes) you’ll often come across negative generalizations about men with no pushback and tons of upvotes. I always hear complaints about misogyny on here but rarely about misandry. It seems like it has been normalized as “punching up” and is increasingly prevalent both online and in real life

Edit: honestly I didn’t need to provide examples. Most of the comments here prove my point

I swear no matter where I go, other than the free way, it seems like people think the speed limit is 35. Whether it’s on Morse road (past 71), Sunbury, Bethel, Olentangy, even sometimes going down 23. All of which are like 45-50 speed limit
